Pokémon has always had creepy/disturbing lore, Drifloon is literally known to kidnap children, Hypno is straight up a pdf-file, Tinkaton uses the remains of another Pokémon as a weapon, and Team Rocket literally kills a Marowak in the original games (this is just a few examples)
To be fair, a LOT of the Pokedex entries allude to some sick and twisted stuff, a legends Arceus side quest also alluded to (basically confirmed) human pokemon relationships but this is a wow moment that more freaky stories are made and confirmed by game freak 😅
The Pokemon manga also has some decently graphic moments as well. He's reading this out, and it honestly isn't really that disturbing in comparison to what they've already done in the past. Old Pokemon games used to literally say that Pokemon die. It's not that far-fetched.

If anyone has looked into any of the more obscure official Pokémon material, then this honestly isn't that surprising. Even just a lot of NPC dialogue and Pokédex entries allude to some pretty mature stuff that you'd never expect in an E rated game. Pokémon-Human marriages, child kidnapping and deaths, some ghost types being the reanimated corpses of people, and so on and so forth. I think some people and Pokémon die in the mangas.
This, you can tell from the games and shows this stuff is happening in the background. But with Pokémon usually having a younger audience, never actually made a game that show these themes probably a worry that the kids playing normal Pokémon will see the Adult show/game showing these themes and get backlash. I think they wanted to make Pokémon more dark, or at least have darker games/shows for Adults, but just can't because of the overall audience is too young and would accidently watch it...

I would say it’s creepy but not surprising since they add a few disturbing things in the Pokédex like Cubone wearing the skull of its dead mother or drift bloom taking children away up into the air or the fact how the first gen that have you fight literal ghosts heck in the manga a Arbok got Chopped in half or a disturbing scene in Pokémon origins where a squirtle bites a charmander in a disturbing fashion where you can see its tail’s flame slowly going out indicating that it’s about to die.
As a longtime Pokemon fan, a grand number of us knew that the lore was wild and out of pocket. And while some of these are suspected to be fake (according to some), it's not as farfetched as one might think given what's in the games, anime and manga too (including the violence humans have done to pokemon like team rocket mutilating Slowpoke for money or a king wiping out pokemon and humans in a war)
these were obtained from a hacker phising and Nintendo admin so it's real. There's a lot of stuff that confirms that it's real. I can give an example if you want
There are actually multiple instances of humans in universe falling in love with pokemon and some even marrying the pokemon. But yes there are several more adult aspects of the pokemon history that Gamefreak will never go into. The great pokemon war is one of them which could be straight up rated R material

It's pretty interesting to think about the alternate timeline where Pokemon doesn't go child friendly after Gen 4 and goes full yokai horror. There was a interview a while back where GameFreak admits going into Gen 5 they tried to soft reboot the franchise to make it more appealing to children. I always thought that just meant simplifying the gameplay and stories a bit, but I guess this is what they meant.

This was stuff cut from the Gen 4 Library, but these were based on Yokai stories, and Japanese folklore can rival Greek folklore with how off the wall it gets.
Pretty sure the point of writing all those things is to see how far they can go with dark themes, they needed to cross the line by a long way to see what they could put in the canon lore. The greatest example I can give is Epic Mickey, they made so made horrifying drawings to see where was the line for Disney to say “no”. It’s interesting to see how it works. Surprisingly... This is common in Pokémon, specifically in the manga. Like this stuff was morbidly common. In one chapter there was ghost types using a psyduck corpse for a body.
This confirms 3 things that ruin my childhood, if not pokemon itself for life. 1. Pokemon can straight up be KILLED by ordinary people, they do not magically faint in the show. 2. I only believe the leaks that have visual proof, like unused game models and what not. These stories could've been made by a fan and added to the leaks. There's no proof that any of these actually came from the Game Freak.
I'm a bit surprised so many are taken aback from this when greek mythos levels of shenanigans were hinted at in the Pokemon myth stories in the library from saphire and ruby. I really like the delta diagram of the legendary, mythical, and pseudo legendary Pokemon.
It should be noted that none of this story stuff is canon. Seems to be mostly based on Japanese folklore and yokai which really isn't that surprising considering that many pokemon were already inspired by this stuff
Pokémon has had a BAD year so far. First they are hated for going after Palworld over “patent infringements” than this happens. They have been getting incompetent over the years especially with their deadlines and so much content getting cut for the games. In one of the confidential documents, they even explain why they finally ended Ash's journey which involved a decline in viewership with kids as they cant grow and relate to Ash at all, constantly resetting to a noob level every region he goes to, as oppose to over 30 year old fans who they really don't want to market to. They had to tread VERY delicately as to answer the big question as to why Ash has still not become a Pokemon Master even after 25 years of being on screen and winning the Alola Championship.
I do think Nintendo is giving them a fair chance after the whole scar/violet situation. My only problem is said leaker isn’t a saint because he’s going to ruin a bunch of unannounced games that were being made and developed. Also, another fact that he also has personal doxxing data of 2000 employees at least.

Considering information we have about Pokemon currently like how marriage was said to be a thing in lore since Gen 6, how a bunch of ghost Pokemon are theorized to be deceased people or Pokemon or have stories about kidnapping people, Pokemon and humans killing each other for sport or food, Mewtwo’s backstory, the Beast Trio being revived by Ho’oh, etc. It doesn’t sound too crazy to hear relationships between humans and Pokemon were… closer than we have seen before

If anyone has looked into any of the more obscure official Pokémon material, then this honestly isn't that surprising.
Even just a lot of NPC dialogue and Pokédex entries allude to some pretty mature stuff that you'd never expect in an E rated game.
Pokémon-Human marriages, child kidnapping and deaths, some ghost types being the reanimated corpses of people, and so on and so forth.
I think some people and Pokémon die in the mangas.

This, you can tell from the games and shows this stuff is happening in the background. But with Pokémon usually having a younger audience, never actually made a game that show these themes probably a worry that the kids playing normal Pokémon will see the Adult show/game showing these themes and get backlash. I think they wanted to make Pokémon more dark, or at least have darker games/shows for Adults, but just can't because of the overall audience is too young and would accidently watch it...
Them going the extra step and emulating older yokai stories was the logical next step. And considering I love old Greek/Roman/Japanese myths, these weren’t really that shocking lol
@@arcadeportal32yeah it’s a little like Star Wars where there’s tons of stuff that’s implied happening in the background but most of the media isn’t focused on that aside from some form of allusion to it.
Only thing I can say against some of these Pokemon stories is that they’re just extra explicit compared to other things where there could be a little bit of interpretation but that’s probably why the stories were scrapped and left on the cutting rooms floor
@dustyfedora I have looked some of them up, and yes, some of them were very, very explicit and dark. Even more so than Palworld, which says a lot.. that's if there are all legit stories pulled from gamefreaks servers.
I would say it’s creepy but not surprising since they add a few disturbing things in the Pokédex like Cubone wearing the skull of its dead mother or drift bloom taking children away up into the air or the fact how the first gen that have you fight literal ghosts heck in the manga a Arbok got Chopped in half or a disturbing scene in Pokémon origins where a squirtle bites a charmander in a disturbing fashion where you can see its tail’s flame slowly going out indicating that it’s about to die.
As a longtime Pokemon fan, a grand number of us knew that the lore was wild and out of pocket. And while some of these are suspected to be fake (according to some), it's not as farfetched as one might think given what's in the games, anime and manga too (including the violence humans have done to pokemon like team rocket mutilating Slowpoke for money or a king wiping out pokemon and humans in a war)
these were obtained from a hacker phising and Nintendo admin so it's real. There's a lot of stuff that confirms that it's real. I can give an example if you want

There are actually multiple instances of humans in universe falling in love with pokemon and some even marrying the pokemon. But yes there are several more adult aspects of the pokemon history that Gamefreak will never go into. The great pokemon war is one of them which could be straight up rated R material
When I asked for a more serious themed Pokémon game, I was hoping for a Pokémon: Team Rocket Edition (the romhack but an official version). But instead I got Pokemon: The Freakoffs where Diddy is the League Champion :(

It's pretty interesting to think about the alternate timeline where Pokemon doesn't go child friendly after Gen 4 and goes full yokai horror. There was a interview a while back where GameFreak admits going into Gen 5 they tried to soft reboot the franchise to make it more appealing to children. I always thought that just meant simplifying the gameplay and stories a bit, but I guess this is what they meant.

Pretty sure the point of writing all those things is to see how far they can go with dark themes, they needed to cross the line by a long way to see what they could put in the canon lore. The greatest example I can give is Epic Mickey, they made so made horrifying drawings to see where was the line for Disney to say “no”. It’s interesting to see how it works. I’m actually glad these got leaked, it’s makes the Pokémon world feel more real and alive… since in our world messed up stuff happen daily !

Surprisingly... This is common in Pokémon, specifically in the manga. Like this stuff was morbidly common. In one chapter there was ghost types using a psyduck corpse for a body.
This confirms 3 things that ruin my childhood, if not pokemon itself for life.

I'm a bit surprised so many are taken aback from this when greek mythos levels of shenanigans were hinted at in the Pokemon myth stories in the library from saphire and ruby. I really like the delta diagram of the legendary, mythical, and pseudo legendary Pokemon.

It should be noted that none of this story stuff is canon. Seems to be mostly based on Japanese folklore and yokai which really isn't that surprising considering that many pokemon were already inspired by this stuff

Pokémon has had a BAD year so far. First they are hated for going after Palworld over “patent infringements” than this happens. They have been getting incompetent over the years especially with their deadlines and so much content getting cut for the games. In one of the confidential documents, they even explain why they finally ended Ash's journey which involved a decline in viewership with kids as they cant grow and relate to Ash at all, constantly resetting to a noob level every region he goes to, as oppose to over 30 year old fans who they really don't want to market to. They had to tread VERY delicately as to answer the big question as to why Ash has still not become a Pokemon Master even after 25 years of being on screen and winning the Alola Championship.
I do think Nintendo is giving them a fair chance after the whole scar/violet situation. My only problem is said leaker isn’t a saint because he’s going to ruin a bunch of unannounced games that were being made and developed. Also, another fact that he also has personal doxxing data of 2000 employees at least.

I’m surprised ppl r disturbed by this stuff. I remember reading all the Shinnoh tales in the Canalave Library back during DPPt days cuz I found the weird mythology cool. Pokemon lore has always been interesting to me.
Thing is, not everyone read those. We call those ladies and lads casuals, and it's no wonder they're surprised by that. Definitely recall seeing that lore myself, though.
Honestly these leaks sound cool because it adds some insane new lore and perspectives to the pokemon world that we never heard or really thought of in an official capacity. Considering information we have about Pokemon currently like how marriage was said to be a thing in lore since Gen 6, how a bunch of ghost Pokemon are theorized to be deceased people or Pokemon or have stories about kidnapping people, Pokemon and humans killing each other for sport or food, Mewtwo’s backstory, the Beast Trio being revived by Ho’oh, etc. It doesn’t sound too crazy to hear relationships between humans and Pokemon were… closer than we have seen before
