  • LG Gram 17 (2021) review: A huge screen and weight of under 1.4kg make this a compelling thin and light laptop, though its not without compromise.

    I have been using LG Gram 17, 2019 model for a while. I just can't go back to any smaller, heavier laptop anymore.

    Screen looks like it wobbles like crazy. Can you use it on your lap and still read text?

    When you were waxing lyrical about how fragile this allegedly is, you could have read the spec sheet which lists this as mil-std-810g. Of course its easier to nit pick though.

    • @TechyTalkUK
      @TechyTalkUK  3 года назад

      Can quote whatever spec you like, this thing won't stand up to being sat on or wedged in a bag as well as a Dell XPS 15. Could snap that screen with one finger. Simple as.

      @@TechyTalkUK worst possible reply. Mil spec is not a theoretical test, it's carried out by US military certified laboratories. Watch Gerry Rig Everything video where he torture tests this laptop, including standing on it, and he cannot break it. SMH.

      What, the one that's four years old where he drops it from a table onto a carpeted floor and stands on it closed and flat? Yeah, that is not a thorough test. Don't get me wrong the flexible nature of this machine that allows it to absorb impacts and pressure definitely holds up in some ways but it also very much has it's limitations. The mil spec testing on this machine is very specific and limited and not really all that applicable to real life.

    Heard there is no option for virtualization, so that lg gram do not support any VMware like softwares😐😕

    4:14 that display gloss is AWFUL. What was LG thinking by putting the crappy display in this wonderful laptop? Thanks for the review.

    Great review, thank you! Any idea if the RAM is user upgradable once you remove the feet and open it up?

    If it was a matte screen I would get one. Disappointed. Glossy screen a big no for me.

      You could just buy a matte screen protector.

    Where did you see the freebies listed with the lg gram as per your video?

    • @TechyTalkUK

      I believe it was for direct sales from LG but I can't find any now (I did confirm they were available before posting the vid) so they might have already sold out. I'll drop LG a line to check for you.

    I've a question, do you clean your laptop's screen or covers to kill germs, if so how do you clean it?

    3:12 4:14 Blimey, that super glossy screen. I've seen less reflections in a mirror. Big no no! You should have opened it up and you'd have seen why it's so light. It's like a crisp packet inside...full of air.

    • @TechyTalkUK
      @TechyTalkUK  3 года назад

      Yeah, I would've taken it apart if it wasn't for having to remove all the feet. Could quite easily ruin them all in the process - and thus why it's an annoying thing I point out in the video.

    • @DanyhzVideos

      It's actually good imho. I own the 16" version of the new LG Gram and I love the glossy finish on the screen. As long as I'm using it at work or at home and not in the street (which never happens) so all good.
