    Having used the ACER Swift SF514-54T for 2+ years now, I would not recommend it. Its build quality is poor. After about 6 months, the touch screen had problems with responsiveness. And in the second year, the back cover started to warp quite badly. For info, I am a careful and light user - have always kept it safe, no knocks or drops, no exposure to sunlight etc. My previous laptop, a Sony Vaio lasted well over 3 years and was still good - I changed only to have the hardware updated.

    Would you rather go with Intel Iris plus or with NVIDIA MX350 ? Mainly for programming, basic photo and video editing, site management and school stuff.

    I’m confused by the noise test. Is it from Swift or XPS? You said it’s barely noticeable. But it sounds noisy in the video.

    Hello, Does the program Visual Studio Code runs with no problem on this laptop? I am trying to buy one but I have doubts if Visual Studio Code runs well because I use it for web pages constructions.

      It depends what software you run. If you run demanding 3D CAD software, for instance, it might be a little slow. That said, there are versions with faster CPUs, so they could be worth a look.

    Please do your homework before uploading a review. This laptop can charge through USB-C with no issues. Otherwise, great and informative review.

    • @TechyTalkUK
      @TechyTalkUK  4 года назад +1

      Ah, good to know. I'll admit it was an assumption on my part given the inclusion of the none usb charging port.

    • @brainactivity737
      @brainactivity737 4 года назад +1

      @@TechyTalkUK It's like the HP Envy line. You can charge through the original charging port and USB-C. Also, have you checked the newer Swift 5 2020 model coming this November? It looks incredibly sleek with significant improvements. It's definitely worth a look and maybe a future review?
      Thanks.

      Yeah, I'm certainly hoping to get it in for review, and I shall test the usb charging this time!

    should go with this model or go with m1 air ?

    • @TechyTalkUK
      @TechyTalkUK  3 года назад +2

      Very much depends what you need and what you're used to. If there are no apps holding you to windows, the M1 air is a much better machine overall, in terms of build quality, performance (for most things - app dependent) and battery life.

    how do you connect ethernet cable?

    • @TechyTalkUK
      @TechyTalkUK  4 года назад +1

      You'll have to buy a usb Ethernet adapter. Increasingly common on thin and light laptops.

      @@TechyTalkUK do you think that this is better than the spin 5 for editing 4k and photo editing?

    • @TechyTalkUK
      @TechyTalkUK  3 года назад +1

      I've not used any recent spin models so hard to say. I'd have thought you get more bang for your buck with the swift, though - you're not paying extra for the swiveling screen. And the swivel wouldn't be useful for the tasks you mention.

    An absolute nightmare in my case. After 6 months, it started switching off by it self; it can't handle a Zoom presentation -- it switches off complete; sometimes it turns pitch black while you can still hear the sound of whatever you are hearing. The Charger -- the stick that goes into the whole, to be precise -- is very thin and is no longer working after 10 months. Curry, the shop where I bought my computer, does not answer phone call and it states that it only accepts returns within days after purchasing the device. My £600 Acers usually for more than 5 years! DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP or at least not at Curry!
