Age of Sigmar Spearhead is a great starting place for wargaming.

One page rules if you have a limited budget.

@@kelvinsantiago7061 Whilst it's a great set of rules, it's probably a good place to start unless you already know people who are wargamers and play One Page Rules. Most of the games I included have starter sets and are relatively easy to start with. I'd highly reccomend One Page Rules to progress to.

Frostgrave was the first game I played after a long long time away from gaming. 6 years later we still play the game.

Not sure about WH 40k. The game has a fantastic lore, however, the miniatures are expensive IMHO.
Unless you pick up used minis from Ebay.

@@MrTryAnotherOne I chose it because of how easy it is to access. People are able to walk into a shop on the high street, get a demo game and pick up everything they need. It's probably the easiest way into the hobby and that's one of the main reasons for choosing it. On top of that it's the most popular game in the hobby which means finding other players is easy. Then there is absolutely. absolute tonne of resources/content online for the game.

@@MrTryAnotherOne it’s maybe not the best game in this bunch but you can’t fault it for the amount of people it has got into the hobby. The lore, the online presence, the miniatures etc . Without 40K I honestly believe there would be less players in general.

I agree, ask any wargamer under 50 how they started in the hobby and most will probably reply via Games Workshop. For all it's faults it has done more than any other game for bringing in new people to the hobby of table-top wargaming.
