    I used my Wise card and had no issues at all. I only used the tap method in Japan. Never needed to swipe. Although I mainly used 7/11. Family Mart, Lawsons and 7/11 are all basically the same type of store.

    You have to enable the contact less payment method in the app for it to work

      @@everythingjapanchannel Just a guess but Japan's most common contactless payment for Visa card are QuickPay and iD pay. Not sure if Wise Visa has either of that logo. If not, it probably has Visa Touch which isn't as common and the attendant in Japan might literally have no clue how to switch to it.

    Hi would like to ask a couple question.
    1. when you convert myr to yen you pay a small fee already. Is there another fee for each tapping on your card in japan?
    2. When tapping in japan, will it automatically deduct from ur yen balance or do u preselect the yen currency in the app while in japan?

    • @everythingjapanchannel
      @everythingjapanchannel  3 месяца назад +2

      Hi
      1. After converting to yen, there is no more fee. Each tap will just minus the exact amount of yen you used. Everytime you spend the wise app will be updated and notify you on the amount spent
      2. Yes it will auto deduct your yen balance. Based on my understanding should your yen become insufficient, if you have any credit in other currencies, they will use that and convert for you automatically.
      Hope this helps.

    Hey mate, I've ordered myself a Wise card too. I'm wondering if it would be better to put yen credit on there, or if i should stick with euro balance. Any tips?

    • @everythingjapanchannel
      @everythingjapanchannel  Год назад +7

      In my case i had already prepared wise account 2 months prior and the yen was at its low so i converted my myr currency to yen during those period. I'm not sure how the euro/yen stability but for my case i got a really good deal converting early. So in Japan when i spent it just automatically minus the yen without any further conversion, you could say that i got like a fixed rate. If you think that your currency is strong enough to hold againts the yen during your trip then you can also remain the balance in euro. As for me, the myr againts the yen can fluctuate easily like it did during the trip so by converting early at the cheaper rate i got some advantages. Hope this helps.

    Do you think it’s more cost efficient to convert MYR to YEN in wise and then withdraw cash in Japan, or directly exhange YEN in Malaysia?

    • @everythingjapanchannel
      @everythingjapanchannel  8 месяцев назад +2

      If i'm not mistaken there are charges when withdrawing cash from atm machines in japan hence what i see others do is withdraw the max amount instead of multipe times. In my case i topup my wise to buy small stuff like food,drinks at convenience stores by swiping the card. The rest i still bring cash that i have converted to yen in Malaysia.There are still places that accepts cash only. I also bring along credit card for emergency cases. Answering your question, i will not withdraw cash and spend directly using the card. Withdrawal is my last option if i run out of cash/or my credit card dont' work, as for cash money i will just convert the rm to yen before flying to japan.

    hi, have you tried to use the apple wallet method instead?

  • @milzam_hutomo
    @milzam_hutomo Год назад +5

    The problem probably comes from the EDC. Either hasn't been updated for a while or anything else.
    Because, for example, in Indonesia, there are several EDCs which are only accepting contactless payment from specific cards. Mostly credit cards. While the other will be declined with various message, such as "Declined", "Insert Card", "Pin Blocked", etc. However, when we try to use the declined cards using different EDC which is already use the latest software, it works without any problem.

      its the type of account. Savings and checking acc/current acc. Saving is like normal acc when people open up at a bank to save money. Checking/current is the one where you use cheques. Its also usually use for business purpose. I've only tried withdrawing at my local bank in malaysia and i choose savings at it works. The checking/current is refering to a friend of mine who had tried to withdraw in atm japan and he told to pick checking/current at the atm machine. Thats all i know@@myloveforever1962

Pastu kan bla kta nk tambah duit dlm kad kta pilih yen berapa yg nak pastu bawah tu akan appear bapa total duit malaysia kan. Lps tu bla kta dah beli yen. Mksdnya nnti duit dlm kad wise kta tu akan ada dlm yen ke? Pastu klu nak bayar apa2 nnti trus dia deduct dlm yen ke atau akan ada convertion apa2 dri malaysia ke yen? Sorry noob skit

    • @everythingjapanchannel
      @everythingjapanchannel  10 месяцев назад +1

      Basically kita deposit thru fpx tu nanti dalam wise akan jadi myr dulu. Lepas tu baru kita convert kan ke yen currency dalam apps wise so that duit kita semua dlm yen , pada currency myr pula dalam wise kita akan paparkan 0. Sampai di jepun nanti bila kita bayar semua tolak dari yen tersebut. Itu purpose wise sebenarnya basically kita nak lock satu kali convert supaya sampai dekat jepun xde conversion2 dah. Contohnya masa saya pergi hari tu ada 50k yen dalam wise saya. Bila saya beli first time contoh 1000 yen, nanti dekat wise akan dapat notification saya belanja 1000 yen dan paparkan balance 49000 tepat.
