  • This video is the first in a series of videos to learn how to use the Vevor 3 gallon alcohol still for essential oils, full spectrum oil, and alcohol.
Here, I specifically review how to clean, prep, and modify a 3 gallon Vevor alcohol still before using it for distilling essential oils.
I also show how I modified a vegetable steamer with 3.5” stainless steel nails to allow space for about 3 Liters of water to fit beneath the herbs.

thank you. Just got same one single thumper keg.
not fully set up , tightening pipes and
fittings. Wanted to see what vinegar run
would look like? I am going to store where
they have bamboo steamer basket for the
essential oils extracts. Free weed / herb around
punk tree maleleuca Alternifolia. with a wonderful smell, (leaves)
cleans and bug repellent (mosquito plus?? )
like nothing else. Related to the world famous tea tree.
I want to get started on been decocting gallons of it - main use for cleaning
deep down with some isopropyl and minute soap , drops only. Want the essential oil maybe better? meds uses.

You’re welcome! I am so glad I could show you what the vinegar run looks like. Unlike an essential oil run, steam is also coming through the collection tubing. The heat and the steam are what we’re after for that final cleaning stage.
Stay tuned and be sure to keep us update with your steam distillation.
Just a thought about the bamboo steamer:
I wonder if any bamboo oils will be present in your final product.

Hi! I’m so excited that you have a still!
I did a steam distillation with about 3 L of water beneath the vegetable steamer and herbs.
I modified a vegetable steamer to be 3” tall. This way, the water sits beneath the herbs and the steam rises through them.
You might want to also watch the lavender essential oil video for more details and tips! :)
Feel free to ask more questions, I am thrilled to help!!!

One thing I would change. Those nails you use, stick with stainless only! Those nails are made out of unknown steel and it can be toxic. Get some ss bolts in the length you need and some ss nut and your set!

Thank you for the comment! I appreciate your concern and warnings.
I would never use random, unknown metal nails. Everyone who watches and reads these comments should also be aware of the dangers around using just any metal.
The nails were stainless, which I did mention in the video.
However, I switched the stainless nails to stainless bolts with nuts, so they are secured to the steamer better. You can see the change in the lavender video.
Again, thank you for the heads up.
I will post the video where I show how to attach the bolts to clear up any confusion for future viewers.
The lavender video shows the vegetable steamer with 3” stainless bolts instead of 3.5” stainless nails.

After re-watching, I noticed that I did not mention that the nails were stainless!
Even more grateful that you pointed that out!!
