    I have in ground gunite pool need to lower water in order to blow air out of returns but how can i lower the water if the returns are lower than skimmers ??? For the purpose of closing for the winter.

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  3 года назад

      You should have a ball valve or Jandy valve you can turn off for the skimmers and drain down the water from just the main drain that’s the drain on the bottom of the pool. It would take a very long time if you had the skimmers open because the air would get into the line causing the prime to stop off and on.

      Put a vac hose and connect one end to your skimmer and other just drop it into pool.

    hon i know your not an expert but maybe you can help me. I have bubbles in the chamber basket by my filter with normal level of water in my pool but when I fill the pool with water above my skimmer the bubbles go a way. Could the skimmer pipe be sucking air from crack in the skimmer fixture when the water is at normal level?

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  2 года назад +1

      I would make sure that your skimmer is not channeling water kind of like a tornado action if you know what I’m talking about I’ve seen that in skimmers and when the pool water in the skimmer is higher then there’s no funneling of Air. Take a look at it the next time you see the bubbles in the actual pump basket and just check the skimmer and see if you see swirling water/air going down.

    Can the resign hardner be used on the pool plaster for a crack as well?

      Yes it will bond to pretty much any surface

    what does the die do when you squirt it in there when there is a leak, can you see the die going out the crack?

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  11 месяцев назад

      All it is is kind of like food coloring. If there is a hole, it will be sucked into it you should be able to see it go in then you will know it’s a leak.

    will the skimmer still have a good bit of water if theres a leak....its sooo hard to find people in my area to come and look

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  2 года назад

      Yes if the water is halfway or 3/4 up in the skimmer you could have a steady leak may be in the bottom part of the skimmer so it will take a while for it to drain down. Have you tried using the Dye kit to check yourself?

    • @philhare7851
      @philhare7851 2 года назад

      i have not

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  2 года назад

      The dye kit you can get at your local pool store there maybe 3 to 5 dollars and anywhere inside your skimmer that you think may be a hoe or a crack you can check with the syringe that has dye in it if you find an actual leak you can use the two-part Epoxy they sell also to seal it up.

    How does the dye actually help you detect a leak?

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  2 месяца назад +1

      If you think you see a crack slowly push some dye near the location if it goes into the crack, then you know it’s leaking at that particular spot

      Do you have a built-in overflow valve by any chance? Also, is this a vinyl wind pool or a Gunite pool?

      @@ClearlySeen it’s a in ground pool with liner. No overflow that I know of? I inherited this pool when I bought house a few years back so had to learn about how to operate. Had a new liner etc, new sand filter & pump, seems odd it always stays at same level? 🤷‍♀️

      You could have a leak right at where the pipe meets the skimmer if so, that will have to be temporarily epoxied, but the real fix for that if that is the case it’s going to be a new skimmer installed. I think you’ll save a lot of money. If you just call a swimming pool, leak detection company, let them find and patch the leak where i am located it’s $350-$450 but we’ll worth it in the end.
