Great story, well told, interspersed with the language. It may or may not be entirely accurate, and the Daodeching quote may apply. The sage believes the truthful and that of the Liar because even within the Lies, there contains some truth. I found the admission that not all arts came from the Shaolin may reinforce what Taoists' monks, including Blue Mountain, have stated that there had developed martial arts prior to the Shaolin perhaps they were the source from which it developed, even transmission may have occurred to the Indian.
This was Very Good and even though I learned this history some 40+ years ago, by both my Sifu/Shifu as well as reading various articles, it's still Great to hear them. Buddhism is said to have been introduce in China is 206 BC-220 AD before that Taoism and Confucianism already existed as well as most of all kung fu or martial fighting have existed before the arrival of Shaolin kung fu. Even in Korea and Japan there were warrior monks of Buddhism. In Japan it would not be Shaolin kung fu that would be known best warrior but the samurais. In China many martial art fighters either in their retirement or seeking refuge retreated and seek refuge inside Shaolin temple that was when Shaolin was introduce to martial arts having time to spend and meditate they were able to improve or expanded martial art techniques.

No, Indian your bias is showing. You and I are born a degenerate age. Because of your evil intentions and actions in past lives and in this life, we cannot practice such advance teaching. You need to build purify your mind and build merit for all sentient beings. Then and only the can you practice such advance teachings.
Also, the enemies of Buddhism has reincarnated in China. The Lotus Born Buddha predicted this in 7th century. A power evil god of Tibet died and was reborn as a tobacco plant in China. This allowed powerful evil spirits to reincarnate their. Shadow of evil grew there and now they seek to destroy Buddhism. That why even now they try to invade your lands to destroy Buddhism. That the Buddhist of this era employ powerful Buddha's from Hell Realms to stop them from entering into India.

Top elite Shaw Brothers Films and etc - I've watched well over 10,000 hours of classic Chinese Kung Fu movies in my 30 year tenure and only 3 have been of Bruce Lee - no disrespect. I've always wondered why the Priest would greet with one arm. Wow. The knowledge you provide on your channel is priceless to us who have never actually practiced, or no those who have, or actually were and still are fans of those old classics - sound effects and all, because behind the so called fantasy there was always truth behind it. Thank you
Bodi was not just a not just a Martial arts master but also a well known herbalists. Yes he knew kalari but traditional kalari was for the soldiers of the kingdom, if you search or see any kalari demonstrations you will see urmi(bending sword) and a small shield as the basic weapon, as well a single hand sword, spears etc. Bodi could not teach them all but only the hand to hand and staff version, because he had taken up the sage role and wanted to teach the common people. This base led to may various form and established morden day kungfu. Morden day complete kungfu is not just what bodhidhrama taught but is one of the base. You can see that even now, where they teach kungfu it's starts from breathing exercises and his basic movements established.
As an Indian i came to know about him only after a movie honestly we should study in book so that later generation would remember. I was surprised that as living for 25 yrs I didn't know
And they would be right! You would certainly see some semblance of Kalaripayattu or even acknowledgement of its origin in MA practiced by other countries. Time for you to crawl down from your arrogant nationalistic high horse, son.@@ftu2021
In truth, Bodhi Dharma knew many other things apart from body practice in Kalari, Marma Vidya, Arma Vidya, Eye Science, Kol( stick)Pravya, Ayurveda and many other things. He was able to take the mind to another level in Yoga.
Luohan has several usages. My favorite is "GUARDIANS OF BUDDHA". Some monks claim their are 18 of them and some say 36. I once saw an ancient painting of Buddha surrounded by 18 Luohan who each had a different Chinese classical weapon. The 4,000 pound staff of The Monkey King was stolen from a Luohan of Heaven. A mortal could not pick it up.
Bodi did not go to China, and meditate in a cave for 9 yrs, to teach a matrial art. He was dedicated to spreading Zen or Chan Buddhism. He only taught the monks 18 luohan, which was possibly an old form of Mahayana Yoga, for health.
It was Kalaripayattu, the oldest indian Martial art system. That is what Bodi taught the monks in order to improve their health which they then turned into the 18 Luohan system for their eldest monks and the various Kung Fu styles for their youthful.
