Hi, I'm so glad I came across your channel. I purchased a Samsung 4 door family hub last December. I'm an Apple user and I have downloaded SmartThings. I am in no way using the fridge to its full potential. Am I able to pick up calls from my Iphone on the Family Hub? Also, my screen is constantly freezing on me and it's hard to swipe from screen to screen. Any advice? Thanks very much.

But you can use the speaker as a Bluetooth connection and do it that way. As far as your screen freezing that sounds like it's running out of ram. I would try doing a manufacturer reset of your hub. See if that helps. Great video, best comprehensive video on the Family Hub yet. You mentioned a USB port on the top of the fridge.... what exactly is it’s purpose? I assume it will recharge devices, but anything else?

I think it is always a good idea to have a way for a direct connection incase broken software updates happen and you need to download the software from a pc and put it on your hub. Unfortunately, Samsung's documentation on this model is very poor and does not explain anything. Your two videos came as a blessing. I have all settings correct for screen but it rarely goes to sleep mode. I have to manually turn of screen on the fridge. Is there anything I am missing? I will appreciate your reply..

If you want your screen off move set the time on to the lowest possible I believe that it is 2 minutes and shut off motion detection. But you still can use voice assistant apps to share list ect. This was not due to the refrigerator really it was because that was all through to old family hub app. Samsung dropped the app and consolidated everything into smarthings ecosystem and that feature will return eventually. To get app Style what you want to do is click on the internet quick link widget on the top right-hand corner you will see a little plus when you press this plus it will take you to the web browser once you go to the web browser this way go to the site of your choice and then save it it will now save it as a nice little icon all together on One widget. Just so I'm getting this out correctly do not access the internet from the web browser tab on one of your friends screens you will see the widget with already several save to it you're just going to be adding to that

I've got the rf65a977fsr been working fine for a month or so, then both temperatures have shot up from 3 degrees in the fridge to 17 degrees, and from minus 19 degrees in the freezer to plus 18 degrees, any idea what's wrong? Cheers

The board is on the back towards the bottom usually a 4 screw plate that you take off. If its under warranty than great have them fix it. If not call a local supply store like a sears parts and buy the board yourself it's a 5 minute fix that someone will likely charge you 6 to 800 to do. You can likely do it yourself for the part around 120.
Yes, the problem is Samsung. They sell lemon appliances for thousands of dollars. It will continue to have problems. They will never admit to the temperature issues.

This is the counter depth they have other sizes. Also in the specs part of the video I list all size spec sheets for my exact model. But I can measure from any part you need😊
We ordered the counter depth with the bevarage center in door so it should be the same as this one just in Stainless steel. Think the model is RF23A9771SR/AA. I couldn't find anything on how long the hinges are from front of hinge to back of hinge.
No worries OK so from the top front of the door to the back of the hinge it's exactly 1ft. The complete top including including the width of the door is 28" from front to back so only 1' of that has a hinge that protrudes up So you should be good If you're not you might even be able to remove the plastic housing housing that covers the hinges this is not ideal but can get you out of a bind at very least
Hello again. I have learned a lot from your videos. I am writing with three more questions. I would greatly appreciate your help. I recently got the family hub 6 and tizen 6. The first question is-with tizen 4.0 I could add you tube to the home screen as a shortcut which looked like an app icon. But I am not able to do that anymore. Is it still possible with family hub 6.0? The second question is I have the trivia app version 6.0, however, I still can't see the word of the day and on this day in history. I keep seeing only daily inspiration. Do you have the same version? Do you see the same information? The last question is - can we remove the whole cooking board? Many thanks for all your help.

To add a app look you must use the internet widget for RUclips or any other site you want. On the Internet widget you will see on the left "Internet" and on the right top a little box with a plus symbol press the plus Box and go ahead go ahead type in RUclips on the browser when you access the browser this way now you will have a shortcut as a app look in the widget. For the Trivia app make sure that you do all the app updates you want to be on 6.0033 I am able to see word of the day. On this day and daily inspiration. In order to see each Box remember you must click the heart icon on the top right corner on each Box that you want to set as your favorites and see them. As far as removing the board this is possible simply hold it down and slide it up to the trash on to the trash on top just like you would do an app on your phone you also can add pages and delete complete pages so you don't have to see them simply by holding down the page Then delete it. Am I missing any step? Also, for the trivia app, I checked that the latest version is installed. For me it shows the version to be 6.0.3. Is it because I am in Canada that I cannot see the entire functionality of the trivia app? Many thanks.
No problem 😊 so if you don't access it through the widget like I explained it won't look like the app it will be that box. As far as the app not offering your word ect in this case it should be the same. I recommend doing a manufacturer reset of your hub. Once it's completed it will lead you through setup as if your refrigerator is brand new and hopefully will resolve your software problems.
So u don’t have any issues with your ice maker freezing up?
The double ice maker is outstanding. I have had zero issues. It possibly might be the best ice makers in a freezer yet💯

Its true that you need to open the top right door before the left one? Cause if you open first the left you can break the rubber part of the cameras

You can directly access Spotify on the refrigerator and play it through its great sounding Built-in Sound Bar. To extend the sound to other speakers while the actual hub is the main outsource it must be done with Samsung smarthings. It must be to devices that are compatible with smarthings or Spotify pretty much all Samsung products within the last few years work. Through this is a great outsource that can run music through your Entire home with many different products. It definitely is not the same as running a simple Bluetooth speaker from a mobile phone unfortunately. But most of Samsung phones within the last few years allow you to run to separately connected devices at the same time. I just got a family hub fridge delivered today. How long did it take until the view inside feature recognized that food was inside? I get a default picture and it tells me to add food. But we already transferred the food from our old fridge.

My camera doesn’t show the food inside! I also get the default picture! I’ve had it a year and the camera hasn’t ever worked????
If your camera is not working properly check the column of cameras and remove the protective film it shipped with also make sure tge camera slot is opening when you shut the doors to activate them. If you do that and still nothing try a hub master reset

Having said that yes most features you will have in some form they may not be as good or work the same in all ways. You will Not be able to screen share with another brand tv ect. As far as cameras and doorbells any ring products cameras ext will work and Samsung smarthings cameras will also unfortunately nothing else yet. This is because every company has its main partnership and usually has to stick to its own. Like Google won't allow alexa/Amazon products and Amazon won't allow Google products and they are the two main and largest video doorbells and Ai assistants . It has gotten better though in the beginning iPhones did not work at all with most of this stuff. As far as the shelf goes, I'm not fully understanding what you're asking. If you're asking what product to use, or if you're wondering about taking the shelf out to clean it, the shelf pops up and slides out completely so that you can clean it under water if you'd like. The top came out just fine but like other Samsung refrigerators there is a small pocket between the glass and the glass white frame holder. Somehow something leaked on this shelf and got between the glass and this frame. Other Samsungs have clips that holds the glass to this frame securing it whereas this one does not. No idea!
@tatianajursa4673 Oh, okay. Now I understand what you're saying. Okay, so there's actually a small slit, and you just need to aim your faucet at the slit when you're washing the glass. The water will go in between and rinse out any spills. I'm not exactly sure why they leave that pocket there. I think it has something to do with cooling and the crisper. Plus, however, look under the white area, and you will see a small slit. Just pour the hose or faucet there, and the water will go through.

I can't find how to send a note through smart things using whiteboard to our fridge. This is the one thing I am frustrated about. That and the coordination of family schedule. We like to have to do lists for our kids but I would like to edit using my phone as well.
You can't. That feature is not available in the new app.

Hello, I am sure I will rewatch your video as I purchased the hub but haven’t plugged it in yet. Question: when I do plug it in should I be prepared to complete a start process I.e. log in or can it be plugged in and left till I am ready. Silly question I know but odds are my electricians will need to plug it and I don’t want to be fussing with log in stuff while the are around. Essentially what happens when you plug it in. But you can skip all of it once the screen boots up and just set your temperature to your liking until they leave. When it turns on its alot like a new boot up of a phone or tablet. Can Alexa do everything Bixby can do as far as controlling the fridge functions or are some voice functions limited to Bixby only?
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 💯 Great question and to be honest with you in the past it has been Bixby had more clearance if I'm putting that in the right words as far as being able to do things like open your garage door through Samsung SmartThings. However, what I have found is Alexa specifically through the smart fridge hub functions as well as a normal Alexa device and Bixby combined allowing you to do in my testing. Everything I've tried the same as Bixby but when you move over to a separate Alexa device it will not allow you to do certain things.
@@JbTechFanatic So fridge specific functions like asking to show what's inside, etc work from Alexa too? I watched a video from Samsung where they were showing off the features and all the things specific to the fridge (showing the contents on the screen was the example I recall) she switched to using Bixby. I am hopeful Alexa can do everything Bixby can and she isn't a second-class citizen.

@@JbTechFanatic I guess I am curious about the stuff from the "Explore Bixby" section. I understand you can tell Bixby to add something to your shopping list... Alexa has her own shopping list functionality, but when you ask her to add something, is it integrated with the fridge's shopping list or only in the list on the Alexa app? Same for memos, timers, etc. Also can you ask her to show the contents of the fridge (via the cameras)?
The great thing is Bixby is still activated as well as Alexa. What I've noticed the major difference is you must specify specifics with Alexa. If you want Alexa to list on the Samsung SmartThings app my shopping list you must specify it. But not with Bixby Timers and almost all other functions are available with Alexa. However, the view inside the fridge has been finick ie at best with Alexa. But with Bixby it works perfect every time. but the nice thing is they both can be activated at the same time. But it's safe to say Bixby will always be your best option with the refrigerator as it is Samsung's own. And Alexa is definitely their for those who prefer that ecosystem. Also, it might be helpful to go to Best buy. They have this unit on display and you're able to play with settings ect. This might help you in your decision making. Also the best way to view inside the hub is the double tap feature. It's fast and easy.

If you don't want the screen to turn on at all open the door with the screen. Inside the top of the door you will see a little removable plastic piece push it off and there will be a switch. Nice review! But there's still no way I'm ever buying any Samsung appliances because of the recall I found out about over the years. The refridgerators failed to stay cold, and the washing machines had blown apart. That is why Samsung getting like a 50%. GE is twice as better.

I own them use them and they have been outstanding products. I buy a lot of appliances and giftt them to families in need and continue to keep track of performance. I have to say this years top tier Samsung appliances i have reviewed are on a entirely new level they have been fantastic 👌 I also know that nothing is perfect and any brand can have problems with some of their units. People are much more likely to share a negative review than a positive. My last Ge profile Refrigerator stopped working 6 times in 3 years it was a horrible experience of course but I still like Ge Profile because I realize it was just a bad unit and it doesn't mean ge is bad. All appliances and electronics I recommend extended warrantys for the simple fact like I said before any thing in this world can fail good and bad. They come from very far away on ships are moved from place to place before they get to our homes who knows how they have been treated this can open a can of warms also. Has anyone else had problems getting Amazon Alexa or Google assistant on their fridge? I have the latest software installed 6.0 and recently the fridge popped up with an update and notification saying amazon Alexa now installed. Yet it does not respond in any way to Alexa. It is not showing up in the settings menu either. Only Bixby. I have connected smart things app on the phone to Amazon Alexa and Google and still nothing visible on the fridge giving access to Alexa. Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 💯 sounds like a software glitch what you will need to do is a complete manufacturer reset of your hub. This will restore the hub to like new so you can start setup over and will usually fix your problems. It will delete any photos stored on the hub though. But Once that is done then hopefully you will have alexa in the settings Once you do remember you will need to use the Alexa prompt and Amazon code it will give you during setup. Then find the device under alexa and set it as a device that receives your alexa notifications. What you need is a Samsung SmartThings account. Once that is set up you can either sign each device into your Samsung account using your email and password this is the easiest and best option or you can invite and give other members of your home control of your Samsung SmartThings account. Simply open up your Samsung SmartThings account in the top right-hand corner press the plus sign scroll down to member clock it and follow your preferred invitation method

When I see notification for a food item expiry, I don't see any option to remove that message anywhere. Sometimes food item has already been consumed but it still gives you warning for the expiry. I don't see any option to remove that notification. I will appreciate your help.
No problem 😊 you have to manually remove them in your food list. It's designed for you to rebuy and set the new expiration and once its gone for you to remove. You can also use Bixby to add and remove item's 😉

Keep a few things in mind it must be a compatible tv. The tv and refrigerator should be signed into Samsung smart things and on the same Wi-Fi network and 5ghz Wi-Fi band. This feature needs a very capable wifi router as it uses you router for most of the work through wifi direct. And leastly don't forget that you must authorize it to connect on the tv and refrigerator . So during the first time connecting make sure somebody is holding the Samsung TV remote and in front of the TV and that somebody is in front of the refrigerator so that you can okay it to connect when it props. Otherwise it will continuously not connect. Once you do this once, it will be a easy process as long as you have a capable router.

It sounds like your hub doesn't have a solid internet connection. In the right top door facing the refrigerator is a red on off switch flip it off wait a full 60 seconds than back on. Next attempt to go to wifi settings and reconnect see if it helps

Anyone have issues with icemaker yet? Just got my fridge last night. This morning only 1 or 2 loads dropped. Power went out for 6 hours early in morning. Once power came back on and freezer came down to temp ice will not drop. The ice will drop with reset button. Fridge says making ice. I have waited between 2-3 hours multiple times and it only drops when i hit reset. Just replaced 4 year old samsung from hell and my techie side couldn't get another fridge without family hub. I think i made another expensive mistake.

First turn on ice maker in the hub screen make sure you turn dual ice on so each one is makes ice. Also Remove all plastic from your freezer. Than run 3 full gallons of water through the main dispenser. Now Give you refrigerator 3 full 24 hour days for ice. Also Make sure that your freezer temperature is set correctly and that you keep it closed as often as possible. I recommend going extra cold for the first few day's to help. @@JbTechFanatic thanks, I guess its working 36 hours and bin is only half full, disappointing. With 2 icemakers I thought I would have a lot of ice for coolers for kids sports events almost daily.
I have 3 kids always taking ice and we always have ice. Here's a Few more suggestions The reason its a good idea to let it get completely full before using ice is so its not always playing catch-up waiting and having zero ice. once its fully operational and making ice you now want to let it get really full the Tip is to take the scooper and slide the ice from the back forward as the sensor will think its full if the ice is stacked high in the back but not the front. Each day it should improve as all the lines and plastic are solid frozen. I keep ours at negative 2 and another huge thing I forgot to mention is I shut off the government energy savings override as this slows all performance of your device. Go to fridge settings than go to demand response and turn off peak demand override. This will seriously help you have better experience all around 😉
your screens show both tizen 4 and tizen 6 as the current operating system...this is what is confusing to me...you even say its 6.0 while the 4.0 screen is up...I only point this out due to the hundreds complaining about 6.0 and Smart things app which Samsung forces you to use for 6.0 (no longer supporting or allowing the original Family Hub app) and that's where everyone says all the goodies fell off...Help!

So everything you see in this video is 6.0 the screen shots you see are from Samsung website that list specs. Because they have so many variations of the hub they keep that until they all update. But what you are watching is the newest and top hub model available. All features I show you have also on hub 6.0. Please note I have had hub 6.0 for over a year even on my other hubs as I was a beta tester.

Quite useless this Family Hub! I bought one of these fridges recently! Very limited quantity of apps, we can only see inside of the fridge on your phone if you are connected to the same wifi of the fridge and it won't work if you are remote or away from home. Yes! It has Alexa but also with very limited capacity.
If you own a family hub I have done specific videos on using the hub. It sounds like your not aware of what it can do.
