Malle, the Mozart of cinema, ranks among the very greatest directors, and is almost certainly the most underrated of all filmmakers. "Murmur of the Heart" may well be among the ten most extraordinary works of cinema, alongside "Rules of the Game," "Amarcord," "Persona," "Pather Panchali," "Vertigo," "The Searchers," "Viridiana," "2001," and very few others. His absolute honesty and resolute refusal to call attention to technique stand supreme among all filmmakers.

@@frankpontone2139 I have lived an amazing life blessed to have known as colleagues the greatest stars of film, and music, from Sinatra to Burt Lancaster to Paul Newman and many others-- and also to have met heroes of science and industry-- in nearly one hundred countries. How about you?

Not interested in what others say, I gave her an Oscar for Soldier Blue in the movie she was perfect. No matter how she plays. No matter how she looks. She deserves a little respect as most people. I bet if she was sitting across from you and she would have told you, she would respect you.

that is exactly what she would never have wanted cuz she always felt she got almost everything underserved and it made her very uncomfortable

Your reply is typical of those who have lost on point and can only resort to a personal attack. Rewording my statements and hurling them back is another indicator you have nothing orginal to write and very flattering to me. I have to make this short. I'm taking my 10 year old to the movies today.

No matter how hard you try to change the subject the word talent cannot be applied to Bergen and your real admiration is for a fictional character called Murphy Brown. As for my moniker it was chosen to draw out the true character of the beholder and with you it has achieved its goal. You are just like my wife. She cannot figure out why women come on to me all the time either. Like her you will end your days trying to figure it out.

She must have played that role with mastery if people think of her as Murphy

she did and she was quite good in other movies too-Like Carnal Knowledge ,Starting over ,Rich and Famous and most of the ones she makes now-She is talented she only never really wanted to be an actress, that was the problem-she had not much passion for acting when she was young and it showed-Just like someone who has great musical talent but for some reason refuses to practice an instrument-You have to read her books though to understand that, especially Knock wood-Candice Bergen when she was young was a master at sabotaging herself-btw she also sort did the same thing with her private life-this is why everything that in the end really matters to her and made her happy came so late in her life.Candice Bergen is a very lovable but also very complex human being@@youreaquickone

Oscars have no credibility. They are given out by the same politically correct group where she belongs. I don't care what she portrays in private. I care about what she does publicly.

@sexy4yourmama Boston Legal did fine before they hired her. She is a no-talent actress with a deadpan delivery and adds nothing to the show. Her political left leanings are the only thing that gets her work in Hollywood.
