I’m due this surgery next week. So far the only info I’ve had is “the wound often breaks down and we don’t give cushions in hospital, bring a couple of towels to sit on”. Nothing more. Thank you for all this information. The info on you tube has been so helpful in trying to get prepared.
@@charlottejewkes9792 home after 1w. Still adjusting but hopefully cancer free. The bottom is just the worst! Barbed wire stitches! I wasn’t expecting my buttocks to be sewn together either…. But it’s early days. Thank you for asking ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing this. My boyfriend is about to prep to have this procedure done and isn't the most comfortable in facing the fact its happening and/or wanting to talk about it quite yet. I'm doing as much research as I'm able to look into how I can help him when he's home recovering. I know the hospital stay will be longer this time around but the fact after this one we should be done is a big relief and hope. Again: appreciate you sharing this.
Hello, no I didn’t have a wound vac, but I know that sometimes that is needed after this surgery. For getting into bed, I required help. I would stand at the side of my bed and have my top half of my body fall on its side onto the bed, while someone would grab my legs at the same time and lift them in. Doing it this way helped keep my body straight and made it so I didn’t have to sit, which helped greatly in my recovery.
I had surgery June 6th,2022 and got a barbie butt but I think it just opened up and I don't remember doing anything for it to open up I am passedbmt 6 weeks. I have a message for the Dr so we will see what happens
Very helpful information for other people with the same surgery. Great help.
I will be having a colostomy with Barbie butt in a month, this is SO helpful!! Thank you!
I’m so glad you found it helpful! Sending you all my best with your upcoming surgery, good luck and I hope it goes well for you 🙏

I'm scheduled for APR surgery, due to a cancer recurrence, in about a month and I'm scared to death!!!
Good luck! It is a nerve wracking surgery, but you’ve got this. Let me know if you have any questions
Great video. 2 questions. Did you have a wound vac? How did you get out of bed without sitting up first?
