Part 1/4 - Behind the Scenes: Animating for KLOMP! Kids - Full Process Uncut

You can see our lead animator, Davor Bujakovic, finishing this animation for the @KLOMPKids app. The recording starts with polishing the last few frames and adding some in-betweens.
For the rough frames, his main focus was on the action and establishing the poses. When refining (tightening down), he concentrates on the character’s shapes, ensuring that all elements are clear and move in smooth arcs. After the tightdown phase, he would normally proceed to cleaning, making sure the lines are crisp and free of gaps. This would make the coloring process much faster.
Since the animation is still quite rough-around 600 drawings-coloring takes a long time. Finding the most efficient way to color is always a challenge. He may have done some unnecessary work on the spines, but experimenting is part of the learning process. Sometimes, you realize certain approaches aren’t the smartest, but that’s just how it goes.
