Therapist Reacts to Nero Forte By Slipknot
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 13 фев 2024
- Therapist analyzes the lyrics of Nero Forte to encourage people to externalize their depression. Once the depression is externalized it is easier to understand and fight against. We can fight and conquer the things that we understand. In that way the lyrics "That's what I do best" become a rallying cry to encourage yourself "That's what I do best, I overcome this enemy".

Also i believe this song was dedicated to Corey's ex-wife. In the bridge you can hear the backing vocals sing one word at a time which if i'm correct translates to "why did i not see your true face".
Until it was too late. You were on track
(Why) why was it easy for you?
(Did) did I deserve the abuse?
(I) I can't believe I let it
(Not) not what I wanted
(See) see through your bullshit
(Your) you're so dramatic
(True) true to your form of
(Face) every consequence
(Un-) unintimidated
(-Til) 'til the very end
(It) it'll never happen
(Was) was it all a lie?
(Too) many motherfuckers
(Late) that's what you do best
(Lie) that's what you do best
(Lie) that's what you do best
That's what you do best
Thank you for beating me to it! 😁
Never realized this before. that's so cool
The vertical lyric is fucking genius
Listening to Slipknot helps me reign myself in. All the chaos, anxiety, depression in my head that makes me wanna scream, goes quiet.
Everything I'm thinking about and feeling are in the lyrics of most of Slipknot's songs and listening to the rage in Cory's voice, helps me channel my own rage to do something constructive and positive.
Fucking corny!
Depression makes sense, but I kind of always took it as the feeling of being manipulated by a narcissist
And coming to that realization
Satan is a narcissist.
Like his ex wife
This is one of Slipknot's best songs.
Lots of anger, yet it keeps it melodic core.
A real toe-tapper
You can feel the anger through Corey Taylor's vocals.
We Are Not Your Kind is a great album.
I find it very uplifting how a few short months ago you were terrified by the initial encounter of Slipknot and now you’re dancing, fist pumping and just plain old rocking out🤘🏻🔥💥🙏🏻💯 Love your insight into heavy metal music and mental health. Happy Valentines Day 💝💘💌
Agreed. Thats one of the main reasons I watch metal reaction channels; seeing people discover the depth, power, energy and happiness in something that they used to fear and misunderstand. Such an awesome epic journey
@@heffatheanimal2200Willi 😂😂pp
no one needs a therapist, just heavy metal 😂
The best thing about this song, it doesnt matter if its PTSD, Depression, Trauma, Domestic Abuse, Abuse in general, this song calls all of these out to a fist fight. This song I feel encompasses all those things, so many people can relate to this song and feel it to their core due to experiencing one of multiple of those things. This song is dope.
I've been watching a lot of your videos. It has really helped me because I grew up with slipknot and I've had major depression my entire life. Listening to you brings comfort. I've lost all my parents in the last 4 years, so I'm kind of by myself. I am in the midst of doing a major home renovation which is taking way too long to complete. It's almost done, but, it has been like 5 months in the making. The depression from my mom passing and this house still being in psuedo shambles is making me mad. I keep watching every day you release a new video, So keep it up, please.
One thing no one has mentioned is that that bridge has a hidden message in the first words of each line. "Why did I not see your true face until it was too late."
Have you not seen the top comment ?
@@bobmathews9072 That was likely posted after me.
I just found this channel looking up a song. This is just the best thing ever. 😎 👍👍👍
A personal favourite of mine, hope to see more of them! 🔥
This is my favorite off the album. Love your reactions
Great breakdown of the meaning of this song! Appreciate your take on this
Slipknot is therapy.
Slipknot are GOAT ❤
@@DCKING90the fact that the band is the goat their best album is a goat and all the members are goats lmao
They appeared on the music scene shortly after my girlfriend died (freak heart attack) at 25 and I was going through struggles of my own existence at the time. I live in the 515 (IYKYK) and lived in Clown's rental house where they practiced in the basement. Anyway it helped me scream through my pain, anguish and self loathing and I'm still screaming after 25 years.
@@jarodbeede6183 for anyone who doesnt know 515 is the area code for des moines ames ankeny ect in iowa
@@jarodbeede6183 Still screaming too. Check out Gojira and Opeth.
Absolutely love this song and its meaning
your body movements listening to this track mimic how I feel and move when I first heard this song. It is so refreshing to see someone move to the music in a similar way.
There isn't a music video for it, but you should definitely look into the song "Gently" by slipknot. Loving this reaction series!
Just found your channel. Love how you break down the broken. These songs are based on pain and you explain. Plus its awesome that you like the music even though you look like you would never enjoy a band like Slipknot. Well done.
Ok Ms. Therapist. You are a ROCK STAR at heart as we see!!! Thank you so much for making these videos! These are so important for so many reasons and so many people. I love when those that can help, help with zero expectations of financial gain ONLY sending someone a message that will hopefully CLICKS something inside them which tells them YOU CAN BE OK!!!! However what you're putting out into the universe will give you and the US more than can be fathomed!!! Carry on your amazing work cuz I love watching and listening to your break down that comes with your amazing ROCK FACE!!!🤘🤘🤘THANK YOU!!!!! ❤🤘🤙🌶️⚡. GREG⭐
I think it is so cool that you're open to listening to Slipknot! I 100% support your videos! Slipknot is one of the best there is.

Pretty in pink explaining how one of my favorite Slipknot songs work. Love it, here for it.
Thank you for identifying the meaning/pain in the lyrics. I really like the way slipknot processes pain.

Love your reactions, so genuine and thought-provoking.
If you do requests, please can you do Mushroomhead - solitaire/unraveling, that would be awesome!
Your reactions are so cool
They're most of the songs that i love
Cheers from bukidnon 🎉
I’ve been waiting or you to do this song!!! For me this song talks about a time in my life where I’d been promised things for 10 years and it was never delivered on, then I was lied to and lied about and gaslit. By one person in particular. I was very depressed after and I remember thinking at the time that I’d wished I had listened to my wife who had made it clear that she wanted me out of that situation. A few months after she had told me that she was diagnosed with cancer and later died and my one regret in life is that I hadn’t listed to her and gotten out while she was still alive. #heartsupport
First time seeing this channel so great. Slipknot/Corey have been my own therapy and self reflection have alot of repressed pain self esteem and such fro upbringing similar to Corey so to hear you speak about lyrics only validated the meanings, points of view very cool.
And to see someone who genuinely likes this art form is refreshing af. How do i get a therapist like you imo people who like metal and see beauty in thiings that are niether happy or pretty are more empathetic, which is neede to be compassionate and of higher intelligence thank you for tour work just watched 10 videos loved all not uaually in the comments but felt i needed to show appreciation 🤘
Love the Slipknot vids!
This reminds me of my philosophy of how I deal with life… Improvise, Adapt and Overcome. Taught to me in my time in the service and it has served me well when dealing with depression.
You are really cool Taylor. Your insights with some of my favorite music have given me alot to think about in a completely unexpected way in regards to my own mental health. I struggle with alot... and i never actually consciously considered how much music actually speaks to me in the ways with dealing with depression. btw, I freaking love slipknot. i will happily subscribe!
Love you took to slipknot! Fantastic and keep rocking on. Hit up korn!!!
Great vid, again!
This is my absolute favorite from Slipknot. Glad you're enjoying!
I have a new favorite reactor!! You’re awesome kiddo
Love that you are checking this out. I think you’d have a field day with korn
This is the best reaction video to slipknot I've ever watched 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
I listen to slipknot everyday more now than what I use to. I have been off work since middle of December with depression. Since then I've been sent to counciling and had my antidepressants boosted and I still don't see a change for the better

This is one of their songs that helped me go thru my deppresion.
Thank you for understanding. 😢
Your face seeing Mick is great haha
I recently learned how to do that with my depression when I went through intensive outpatient treatment to quit drinking. They went over different tools everyday to help us cope with our emotions without using mind altering substances. Now, I draw out what’s in my mind.
seeing the slipknot journey has been great seeing your reactions :) also analysis. it would be awesome if you could check out some august burns red -composure. that one got me through a lot. keep up the amazing work. enjoy the metal adventure :P

Cant wait for you to do the Devil and I or Killpop
I've been struggling with depression since my early teen years. Slipknot has been one of the many bands that I have related to.
Hey I love the videos keep up the good work, you should react to Beartooth - fighting back it is one of my favourite songs and I connect with it on a deep level
I took the song as dealing with narcissistic abuse, but I think it can work for many different scenarios.
Oh oh, I have a request! Popular monster by Falling in reverse ❤ love to see your take on the lyrics
Cool perspective in these videos. When you graduating to TOOL?
Je t’adore! ❤
Got broken up with while I was going through a hard time financially, mentally, and etc. I was pretty much blamed for everything that happened. I tried everything I could to fix things and work through it, but it was never enough she had her mind made up. So I went through a long period of not receiving what I wanted/needed from the relationship until she eventually ended it. To skip all the details. I look back and realize how she would always say how she cared, but never did the things to show it. So this song really speaks to me because I was pointed out to be the problem in the end, but the reality was that she created issues throughout our entire relationship, and never did enough to make me feel loved and appreciated. It was always her self victimizing to avoid what she was doing to me, so that she didn't have to feel guilty about her own actions.
MY FAV SONG
Another fav🌸🌹🌺💚⚔💚
Another song you should definitely check out is Metabolic by Slipknot off of there 2nd album Iowa, if I’m correct it’s about his father abandoning him at a young age
I love this song.
I jus now saw ur vid but when I hear Nero Forte it reminds me of a relationship I was in where I was threatened if I tried to leave
Just saw this. I have many issues and my lifes jo lie a mess but Ive always loved metal/heavy metal/rock/hard rock etc and its very dope to see someone who also knows of this stuff(I studied it myself to a degree on my own terms so I could have an outward view of myself, and I myself have no place but a shitty rented room however im doing all I can to better myself.
I am curious what she would think of Korn whos been one of my favorite bands most my life.
The only slipknot song I remember off hand starts off like "....I push my fingers into my eyess" cant remember that title. Ah well.
You're thinking of Duality! One of my very first Slipknot songs, honestly a classic.
And man I'd like to see Korn as well!
I would like to hear your thoughts/take on Purity, Prosthetics, or Iowa.
Need to " All Out Life"
Come back Friday.
@@HeartSupport okay now i'm excited
@@HeartSupport I'll be there!
F$%K YES!!
A great song
Id like to hear you do "you know you're right" by Nirvana. The last studio recording the band preformed before Kurt's passing, its a bery interesting song and it's all the more chilling to hear is knowing what the man was going through
Corey's voice along with the Lyrics him and Shawn create mixed with the absolute savagery of Mick & Jim complimenting the riffs and the shred solos have helped me since i was a kid! you also cant argue with EITHER drummer. Joey will always be their best but i take nothing away from Jay Weinberg. Absolutely powerful stuff always!
You should do snuff youll love it
Well back then when I had a therapist before she took an administrative leave to deal with her Depression. She would give me weekly drawing assignments of each session we had. I remember the last assignment I got, I had to give my depression a form. I wound up referencing a lovecraft character (Nyarlathotep). Which in my was an omni present creature wanting to consume me. Like no matter where I go or what I do. It's there. I can feel its presence, I can hear it and I can smell.
I need you to do a video on "Yen." It would be helpful for me
I have no idea if this will help anyone with externalization but one thing that has really helped me is using ai art to create image of what im feeling so I can stare it in the face, and it helps me quite a bit. Cheers for the video and thank you!
You need to hear Spit it out or Eyeless they’re both very unique songs and I definitely recommend them
I think you should do Gently next, it’s an amazing song and has some very guttural screams
I suffered when i was a young of depression unfortunately.
"What if we flip the "that's what you do best"? The "Duality" of Slipknot is beautiful
Need to react to Disasterpiece and Surfacing. Both are epic
There isn't a video for it but I think you'd have fun with Evans Blue- Painted and Pin-up. Always thought that they were and under-rated band, especially their earlier work. They aren't heavy metal, but if heavier is the direction you're looking for then journey over to Lamb of God and check out Blacken the cursed sun, Ghost shaped people and at the very least, Memento mori. This channel just popped up and while I normally roll on pass reaction videos, its been interesting hearing what you take away from songs and bands that for a lot of us, are the only things that keep us going.
Slipknot rules. Best concert I have ever seen.
This song was about his past relationship.......how it was a mental strain on how he was treated. And now he freed because he is no longer in it. That weird blob in the video was him trying to break free from his internal struggle of feeling neglected, mistreated, and under appreciated.
Great song
Amazing reaction video! Id love it if you reacted to Seether! They have some great songs and i think you would enjoy them!
Pleeeeeaaase disasterpiece😍 live london 2002.❤
Based on your ending message, I'll share my story as perhaps it can help someone else understand more about themselves, or even I can find new ideas.
Have been struggling with depression since I was 14-ish, been in and out of therapy since then. My depression comes in waves and I have to actively fight against it at certain points.
I have externalized it for so long that I didn't see it as a part of myself anymore, but more as a destructive version of myself, always whispering in my ears the standard bullshit negativity:
"You can't do it, you will fail this like you have done with everything else, why bother with this? why do anything? That person probably hates you"
My last therapist actually made it worse as I never felt understood by him.
When I dropped out of college in 2016, I felt like my world was crumbling and had my worst episode in my life. I was making plans to end my life, wrote a letter and all, prepared a bottle of my favorite whisky, gathered all my antidepressants and even made a time stamp on when I wanted to do it.
Something in me made me call my old therapist that same evening, basically as a last resort, in my head I went: "Just don't pick up, that would make this easier". She did pick up and we spoke for some time, when I finally said: "I kinda was making plans to end my life this evening." And she thought that already when she picked up the phone.
She got the idea out my head at least for the evening and got me in a psych ward the next day.
EVERYBODY in my social life was shocked as nobody saw it coming. I have become very good at acting that I am fine after so many years of being depressed.
After my family and friends visited me in the ward, I kinda made a promise to myself, that as long as there was still someone in my life that cared about me, I wouldn't leave this earth.
Now we are.... 8 years further and that promise also gives me motivation to keep doing everything. I will tattoo all the names of that people that I care about that I will outlive in my life on my body as a reminder to myself of that promise.
Metal music has been such a tremendous healing force in my life as it can express emotions that are hard to express with just words.
My life song is: "Once more round the sun" from Mastodon and "vacuity" from Gojira
Those bands have saved me from myself on multiple occasions without them ever knowing.
Keep doing what you are doing, if it helps only one person, then you are already amazing.🤘
Also screw anyone who dislikes your dancing to these songs. Metal is for everyone and can be enjoyed in any way.
During the bridge if you read the first word of the line there’s a message.
Jay kills it on this one.. smooth like butter.
I’m curious….. have you done Purity? You should give it a whirl
