They wear masks because of Clown (Shawn Crahan) who used to bring clown masks to their rehearsals, so they basically adopted that idea (that's the most commonly known reason). Plus it helps create a unique look for the band. Corey said at one time that they also wear the masks because they were basically no one, so they used the masks to actually become "no one". There are lots of reasons they wear the masks, and now it's become a thing for the band to have different masks for different eras and reveal them to the fans, as well as if they have new members, its like a rite of passage to get a mask and until they get their own; they pretty much wear blank masks until they're allowed to get their own. Very late to this, but if you haven't been told already, in the breakdown, the backing shout/vocals actually says "why did I not see your true face until it was too late" an amazingly creative breakdown
4:47 That's the beauty part, man- they *_make_* their own masks. Each of the _original_ band members crafted their own masks. The new bassist, backing vocalist, and drummer's masks were made for them- I think either by Corey Taylor (the main vocalist) or Shawn "Clown" Crahan (the percussion drummer, or whatever you call the drummer who literally smacks a metal barrel with a bat).

Hell yeah or Wither by Tech N9ne ft. Corey Taylor
Lucas Leroux yesss been waiting for some one to say this 🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏
I clicked on the cause of Corey but KB was sick
What was the Soulfly song Corey did guest vocals on? Was it called 'Jump the fuck up'?
Yesss!
4:35 Shawn (clown) found a clown mask that he hasten seen since he was 14 and we would never take off the mask in practices and preferments and the hole band decided to where masks :)
We need more rock on this channel! I love layedbak, I love when he reacts to something outside of his norm. Best reactor on RUclips. Please react to to Alone in a Room by Asking Alexandria! 🔥
Dude honestly have never viewed u until now u know how the rabbit hole is but I'm here and totally dig that your doing music outside ur comfort I would reccomend sulfur acoustically Cory's vocals are amazing also defoo subbed man
One of the best bands to see live. The energy of a Slipknot show even now is off the charts.
Son: mom can we get a cat?
Mom: we already have a cat at home.
The cat we have: 7:07
Stolen comment from the original music video
Literally everyone thinks metal is just screaming and yelling. It is so much more. 😔😔😔😔
I believe this song is talking about Corey's depression.
Tell me which one isn't :D
You gotta check out these dudes live. One of the best shows I’ve ever been to. Insane shit live
I'm happy to see black men like metal that is respect we need more black men in metal who agrees
I see Slipknot I clicked ...
next time you gotta react to psychosocial by slipknot it’s a banger
I'm Kahz Psychosocial is literally their worst song
@@JaydonTanner how can it be the worst when it's one of the more mainstream/popular ones?
@@giusepperecchia970 I discovered Slipknot by listening to that song :D
Giuseppe Recchia because mainstream doesn’t mean good... that whole album was trash with a few exceptions. Compare Psychosocial to any song on Iowa and it’s obvious how shitty Psychosocial is.
Psychosocial is a terrible song. And All Hope Is Gone is a terrible album.
“Slipknot is so scary” slipknot: EvErYbOdY bUgS nOw!
Saw them in August and it was my first concert ever and I’ll never forget it. With my dad and it was a surprise for my birthday present. One of the best experiences ive ever had, and I got to experience it with my dad
Full respect, these videos don't get half as many as the rap or 'popular' music ones, yet he's still here actually doing these videos. Awesome! Alt community needs to give people like you alot more, someone who isn't a part of the community actually taking the time to listen and react. I tried getting people into this music but most of them don't even give it a second so I just gave up, yet they force 'popular' music down our throats.
LayedBak is one of the rare ones, full support and respect!
Hey bro you should really check out the band Jinjer song "Pieces"... She has a beautiful voice that you would love!!
Best band in metal and it's not even close
Sorry my guy but just a heads up, It's spelled Pisces. Both words mean something completely different.
Jinger = crap.
MrChippiechappie I think they’re very overrated. All I see is people talking about that one song and it’s not even that good.
Still think you should do Hollywood Undead. But next I’d do Slipknots Dead Memories
Finally some slipknot
Love your channel! few beers under and vibing with your videos, such good music and feeling! Keep them coming!
Your an absolute savage for this. Love your channel
The masks are just them bro that's their style they came up with it. Other bands have worn masks but not to the level of slipknot
They change them per album and during certain tours its cool
Yo would love to see you react to Slipknot “Before I forget” next time you review Slipknot.
Disturbed - Down with the sickness
Please no
Oh gosh you will break him 😂😂
Eww
Slipknot is a beast
I appreciate the love for heavy metal!!! Keep enjoying it because it's not going anywhere. (:
I love watching you listen to the song, I just fell in love with Slipknot in the last year and watching this was so similar to the way I went through falling in love with them.
Should try Birth of the Cruel, it's a banger!
"Song #3" by stone sour. it's slipknot's frontman's other band
Let's not forget their guitarist for awhile Jim root
3:14 his reaction hahaha a hahaha his eyes just popped out
SO exited we saw you do some slipknot you should check more out by them
I love his reaction to the drums this is true music my friend🤘🏽
Layedbakfr should check Dragonforce (Through the fire and Flames) his mind would be blown from the instrumentals!!
See ive been saying slipknot u have to try left behind wheres my heavy metal guys at
The masks are simply tradition. They always had masks because they just wanted to create an image to separate themselves from other bands. They've been around for a long time. Btw I definitely think you should react to more slipknot!
Gets your heart pumping
I super appreciate your open mind on it being able to see artistry in genres is sorely lacking on RUclips
More Slipknot!!!!!!!
Not a huge fan of slipknot overall, but they have some complete homeruns. I don't know how people can't get into metal. It's the best. No doubt about it.
Love your reaction man you should react to unsainted also by slipknot
These guys have that level of energy live too. They go hard.
I love this guys reactions!
haha "metal music". That sounds so cute and innocent
?
Wouldn't mind you do any Korn!
I want him to react to cannibal corpse 😂
Very late to this, but if you haven't been told already, in the breakdown, the backing shout/vocals actually says "why did I not see your true face until it was too late" an amazingly creative breakdown
4:47 That's the beauty part, man- they *_make_* their own masks. Each of the _original_ band members crafted their own masks. The new bassist, backing vocalist, and drummer's masks were made for them- I think either by Corey Taylor (the main vocalist) or Shawn "Clown" Crahan (the percussion drummer, or whatever you call the drummer who literally smacks a metal barrel with a bat).
They've had the mask since they started in '98 I believe
95 but yeah pretty sure it was since the beginning I think I know they were there before Corey joined
SlipKnot The Devil In I
You should react to these songs, not sure what genre they go under but they are rock type songs
Three Days Grace- Let it Die
Three Days Grace- Animal I Have Become
Motionless In White- Voices
Motionless In White- Another Life
No, just no
Slipknot better
I see Motionless in White. I click like.
Braden Norris 😂😂 Nice 👍🏽
Jodie Goode wdym no?
its good to see people listen to metal for the first time
Saw them for the first time in Dublin a few weeks ago. I loved it so much.
Almost Easy - Avenged Sevenfold
Dude, definitely more rock/metal, they’re your best. Try some three days grace, there have been two singers so you could talk about the two different people.
Can we get LayedBak to do “Blasphemian” by Infant Annihilator for the next Metal React?
It's always so comforting to see someone enjoying Slipknot this much.
I didn't actually listen to music until my friend made me listen to Wait and Bleed in high school.
Your reaction was Brilliant. Its a fantastic song
