You are awesome. It's disgusting how badly some of these RVs are prepared and finished. Our 27 year old Thor TT was made and finished better than that Class A. We sold that trailer and upgraded to a 2016 Forest River TT that we inspected. Only issue was a small tear in the flooring where a toy was snagged under the slide. It was easy to fix, and we have only had to do normal and regular maintenance to keep it in good shape. We did do a MorRyde heavy duty shackle upgrade which turned out to be a great upgrade. I don't know if I will ever buy a new RV after seeing the condition of the RVs you have been inspecting.

Wow...glad I found you folks. I am considering buying an Entegra/Jayco Class C rig in the next year. Hopefully the quality improves ! (??) I looked a travel trailer a couple of months ago that was on sale with stated hail damage. The said a couple vents had been replaced. I put down a deposit and we scheduled a pdi. I talked to an RV inspector to schedule and before the PDI the dealer called and said that after the sale we would have to schedule a roof replacement in June. (this was in March). I of course backed out. Another note.....the manufacturer date on the trailer vin tage was 1/23. The was 03/24. I also fount that this rig had been setting in the Texas sun for a full year. Buyer beware and do your due diligence.

Your channel has convinced me to never buy an RV, too bad because I've always wanted one. One would think that spending that kind money would insure a well build machine and quality for the long haul, but its obvious to me the Manufacture expects the buyer to be the QA department and the poor dealer is stuck with shoddy workmanship to work thru and poor engineering to boot. The materials are crap and when you do have a leak (and you eventually will) the materials will disintegrate. The good news might be that as long as it never gets wet, its all good!

Your video is very enlightening and well done. We have a 2012 Tiffin Phaeton 36QSH- it is a definite stow and go floor plan. Love the floor plan. Bought the RV in 2012 and have every intention of keeping it it. Keeping it maintained properly is far less costly than a new one and we know what we have. My question is- if you order a new RV, can you have it inspected PRIOR to giving the dealer the check. Once they get your money you are at their mercy with their lame excuses and promises.

    • @blueoxontherun9188

      Exactly how you should process!
Give a deposit, contingent to my independent inspection and findings in their report being addressed and corrected, we will then sit down to sign your paperwork!
It's your money, your rules. People are afraid to stand up for their rights of being treated respectfully. The dealership tactics is simple; anything will be said to get your money, than your transferred to the service department and we don't remember your name!

They don't seal the showers (and don't do a bunch of other things) because it takes labor, and they can't get laborers. Should they then just skip all that sealing, etc. and sell them like that?...NOPE! They should take the time required to do it right. This is an excellent and accessible floor plan when the slides are in and occupants are traveling, in spite of a few observed design flaws. The chassis also requires upgrades to provide a better handling and driving experience. Two additional batteries is a good suggestion.
When negotiating the purchase make your best deal. You will be spending more money on improving drivability after the sale.

  • @markthompson2079
    @markthompson2079 11 месяцев назад +1

You guy's are the best and show that with another great video. Thank you for showing me things to look for if and when I ever buy another RV. It just goes to show you the RV companies are not doing the best work but are charging top dollar all the same. What ever happened to pride in workmanship? Oh yeah that took a back seat to making money.
Speaking of making money the dealer and sales person do not care if the unit has problems they just want your money while telling you all the crap they will do once you buy it. Well don't fall for that trap as then it may or may not ever get fixed and will take months for shoddy work to be done. Get it fixed before you sign on the dotted line.
While it's only my personal opinion I think every buyer should have a inspection done. If they do then the shoddy builds will have to change an get better. I know not even in my dreams.
An inspector works for the buyer and only the buyer. They just list what they have found and then it's up to the buyer to use that information as they see fit. I look at an inspection as cheap insurance to make sure what is being bought is what it's being hyped up to be. Personally I would have the same inspector reinspect the rig once thing are said to be repaired as they fix it all. Friends have had inspections done and then had it inspected again only to find out the dealer service guys broke something doing the repairs and never said a word about it or fix it either. Crap happens I understand that but not saying a thing about it shows a person all they need to know about the dealer.
So a inspection may run one or two percent of the cost of the rig. You can get back some of that cost by telling the dealer you will not pay for the PDI as they could not have a good job of it or their wouldn't be so many thing wrong. Why pay for work that was not done?
Great catch on the missing batteries! Same for no extension on the inside tires. Who does such crappie things like that. What does a extension cost? Under 20 bucks I bet. No I would not have caught that one myself and probably not the extra batteries either. Who checks the fans out? I have never really checked them much either so that one would have slipped by me.
That's why you hire a inspector because they do check things like that. That save me a tub of time and yes money too. So thank you for another great video and teaching us just how important hiring an inspector is. You save us from ourselves as we are only looking at the things and places we are going in the rig. We buyers can be blinded by the unit and the salesperson oh so easily.

That was our experience when shopping for a motorhome. They seemed to be a good deal until we looked at the details. Saw one new unit at a dealership that the passenger seat wasn't working. I looked underneath the seat and found the electrical plug was loose. Plugged it in and it worked! Seems to be a general industry trend, crank the units out and don't worry about quality. I know there will be little things to fix on a motorhome, but the slide issue you found is crazy. Nice path for mice and other critters to find a way into the rv. Appreciate your videos. We will upgrade to a larger DP at some point but WILL get it inspected for sure. Wouldn't buy a new home or investment property without an inspection, won't consider a MH without an inspection. If a dealer won't allow a NIVRA inspection, we will go elsewhere. @@blueoxontherun9188

Wow just wow - I am the last person to want government further into our lives, but this is only going to be stopped with regulation. It is the only way that they will be held accountable for this. Either that, or the dealerships will have to unite and tell them no more, but that isn't happening. Even down to the plumbing, I have done plumbing on the side before and the plumbing that was in a coach that I looked at last weekend is using plumbing that would be red tagged anywhere else, why? Because there is no regulation on RV manufactures quality control. These rigs are supposed to be a joy to our lives, for many their homes, and it has turned many into nightmares that won't stop. I know having regulation will push the price up a bit, but it will be cheaper than losing a fortune on a rig that won't make it out of the dealership.
