"At least we aren't going to be poisoning too many people" Were his last words before a big lawsuit.
In real life, there are people watching on the conveyor belt if there is no "intruders" among the red tomatoes, just in case the machine doesn't work properly.
You could move the extending pistons closer to the axis of rotation, effectively increasing the flipper speed.
Aw man you beat me to saying it
And lowering the strength
Also even further reducing the issue of accidentally hitting both red and green balls simultaneously
@@CATel_ in the piston testing series he tested the strength of pistons
I'm surprised Scrapman didn't do that with how long he's been building stuff in these games.
You should move the ramp backwards just by a little : red balls hit it because it's too far forward.
From the perspective of the video, move the apex a little to the left.
Yeah, I was thinking move the ramp and the flippers up, allowing more time for the red balls to fall.
yeah I was thinking the same, just moving the receving ramp like one or 2 blocks towards the green area would solve most of the "false positives" I feel like as the greens always land well down the ramp, where some of the red land before the apex as well without even getting to the flippers
Another way could be to lengthen the starting ramp, by like 1, 2 or 3+ rows of small wedge pieces, just add that little bit so the slow red ones still make it over the apex.
As I see it, most false positives aren't because the flippers pushed them, but because a green ball pushed a slow red one in the false direction.
Also:
TOMATOES ARE DISGUSTING!
(™Integza)
Notice how you final machine looks very much like the original with small flipper.
And also, the green tomatoes are not "bad", they can be used for other tomato related produce.
Ok
Boomer
Jk
I know it's a simple thing, but it's always so refreshing when the title and thumbnail perfectly match the video
Will you please bring back Workshop Hunters?
Yes please bring it back
Yeah pleasssse
Yes please
Yes yes yes and yes
Does anyone even know what happened to it?
You could also make a timer circuit that has a delay for exension but the contraction happens almost instantly. Because it you simply put in a timer it will also add delay to the contraction.
10:01 what I would do is have the ball spawners go into a funnel type thing so they all convolute and allow them to become randomly mixed
"And then it sends out these green lasers, but don't worry about that."
- Scrapman, 2022
You should do something like this for multiplayer Monday make a sorting machine.
Manual or automatic whatever comes to mind 😂 I think it would be hilarious to see what the other guys come up with
Yh, it would😆that's a great idea
KAN is a robotics engineer. This is what he does. I'd imagine he's have something completely insane.
@@DigitalJedi I can also see him seriously over complicating it and getting last place.
@@Punchin83 oh definitely. With the time limit, and not thinking it through in advance? 💯%
Multiplayer monday in two days bby
LOL I love how you made this experiment work and also be entertaining as well 🥰
What you need to do to fix all the problems...
Change the spawn system so that the current ramp and randomisation feeds a hopper and new ramp.
This will help even out the speed and flow running into your sorter.
Sensors on both the spawn area and new feed hopper (at say half way full) to turn off spawning.
This will fix the over spawning issue whilst keeping a good supply in the feed hopper that is still randomised.
Change the two receive hoppers into new feed hoppers and round two of the sorters. The good side sorts targets green to remove anything that made it past, the bad side sorts red to return anything that incorrectly was removed.
These two new sorters can be positioned so that all the red balls fall into the same receive hopper and the green fall into two channels that take them out the side to another single receive hopper.
So you may have noticed in editing but the extra balls were going over diagonally thus being able to bypass in the corners, one way to help with this is just adding a third row of catchers like the first row.
Also another thing you can do, that some factory systems do irl is add another sorting layer, so the product or item gets another check, you can also make this area smaller as there should be significantly smaller negative product amounts.
This means you can build the rejoining system like an X escalator after the second catch pit to redirect into the normal pathway, thus saving space and limiting final product contamination.
You could solve the good food in bad section problem by making another sorter that filters red balls instead of green ones
This video was actually pretty cool, seeing scrap mechanic used for things people would actually make in real life.
I love that you didnt stop when the sorte was working but you even perfectionized the end where the balls get eaten. Shows that you actually put effort in your videos and create a good end product instead of quickly shitting out your content!
This never get old. My childhood channel and this man still making videos
11:28 when you get near day 15 in plate up
placing the piston closer to the pivoting bearing would make it faster and reduce lag since u dont need a double/triple piston setup
I feel like your channel has grown so fast, but being stuck at home made 4 years feel like 1
You could add another identical sorting machine, to sort out the smaller amount of balls, and just have the red ones roll into the same pile as on the previous junction.
one improvement i'd do is make the flippers reject any ball that isn't red instead of only rejecting green balls
you probably could have put the sensor in the flipper so you didnt need the timer, or you could have made the tomatoes spawn slower, or move faster. idk
the thing with this machine is that in the good section you could perhaps put another sorting mechanism to be 99% sure no green balls go through
The 'obstacles' were slowing the speed of those balls. Some of them weren't actually being hit by the flippers as they fell short.
ngl i thought scrapman died i always sit and wait during the time he uploads
You want more green to pass rather than throwing away more red. That way you can simply add another set of flipper further down the line for maximum efficacy and minimum waste.
Those other flippers won't need to do nearly as much work as if they were placed on the side of the waste.
"that's gonna be a problem" his final words before 4 years of going to court and eventually paying 10 mil for it
this looks so cool
One thing you could do to help with build up in the polling areas is add a third set of catchers behind the second row so it's harder for the balls to just jump over them.
Definitely move the ramp over a block or 2. Should help with the slower balls. Plus more of the catchers for the colors, so they're less likely to clog up.
1:10 All those lovely wedges...
It would be cool to see a ramp behind the green ball deleters so the red ones that go back there go back with the good food
That isnt practical in real life, if you wanted to go that route you might as well have them all just roll over a floor of green ball deleters then only the reds would get through.
@@conorstewart2214 yea true
Because some red ones are going to the green side, but barely any green are going to the red side, you could put 2 more filters for higher precision. Invert the color on the filter for the green side so that in theory it 99% of the time only lets red balls through.
Should try making some of the modules from The Great Lego Ball Contraptions in scrap mechanic. Make like 4 to 5 different modules, one video for each I guess, then a video where you combine them all together.
ruclips.net/video/VCmwskpxyCg/видео.html
The ramp was setup with just the ball spawners.
When you added the pistons to move/group the balls, you made the balls start lower down so they have less speed and can't make the jump.
Ideally you want the balls falling straight down, so their speed doesn't matter.
that was satisfying
18:14 the balls were acting as electrons
much cooler video than I expected!
0:32 bird goes in
I kinda think that even after a sorting machine like this, there are a few people working to check the foods and pick out the bad ones that the sorting machine missed.
The green tomatoes are actually not bad you put them in your window sealed and they ripen
Cool build scrapman
Green tomatoes just get resorted later anyways. Great mechanism
The balls from the optical sorting machine are getting through the corners of the ball deleters.
You could have made the flippers smaller, probably only down to 2 blocks wide. The height of the bottom ramp might affect it too, having it lower down or pointier may help.
The original machine sorted the balls as they fell more vertically, maybe that would work better than this setup as it gets rid of the issue of some red balls not being fast enough to make it to the red side. Maybe having them fall completely vertically with just some pistons to nudge the green balls would work, the red ones will fall straight through but the green ones will be pushed to the side.
i think something that should help is a stopper for the chassis that hold all the flippers, it moves slightly which might cause issues for the flippers
if you put the piston higher on the flipper(instead of at the end of it), they will move less, but the flipper will move the same. allowing the flipper to move faster.
Great video. That worked really well, better than I was expecting for Scrap Mechanic.
maybe you could make two sorters on top of eachother to resort the good food again
you can use pistons to put the different pads closer together, and you only need on side with a piston, so you can easily make each pad 2-2.5 block wide
Yeah it should be possible to get it down to 2 blocks per flipper and no gap between the flippers, it would just be an asymetrical design whereas scrapman's is symetrical.
add more ball deletion block, but still staggering them
and also add more walls of glass
the amount of times scrap man says balls is crazy any one else agree?
Fairly epic:D
It you made it taller and added a second filter I think it'd be just about flawless, interesting vid none the less, thanks scrapman
Idea for a video(multiplayer monday): The normal concept is that you build something and then challenge each other to find who build the best vechicle or did the best in a challenge right? (veeeery general :) ). What if you built something for one of the others and in order for you to win, he must perform good in the main challenge? So every body Building for other player and you must build it as easy to use as possible in order to succed in the challenge!! Thank you for the Great videos and i wish you all the best in your music career!! ( i am a musician too :D)
when i saw the beams i insistently thought of a new video where you use them to make a light show🚨
love your vids
Great video
Add some dividers on the ramp so you have lanes for the tomatoes, maybe that will make the sorting more efficient. And of course both sides need ball catchers of both colors. :)
Move the bottom ramp one block back from the ball smaker then add a second one below to really sort everything out better
“Electronic racism”
You could add the portal mode to this, make them go through a portal to the other end so they automatically delete
Second set of flippers and pistons would increase accuracy, and speed is also the problem, lower speed- worse accuracy, the flippers could be shorter and closer and piston little bit further and stacked on top of several pistons(2-4 would be enough)
Seems like if you just run a double sorter on each side. You will sort everything perfectly.
could you try making the "Messerschmitt p.1101" in trailmakers?
I think his biggest issue is he didn't have enough clearance for the to split, if he had left one side of the apex, the bad side, he would not have had the red in the green bouncing back and catching each other.... I'm pretty sure that's the reason he had such variable results
I love your videos
you should've added an elevator for the red balls on the green side to send them back through the machine
One thing you could add to it it in the route for the bad food there could be another searcher that re routes the good food back to the good food pile
Connect two of them, and they might be without mistakes at the end
Scrapman: builds tomato sorter
*Farmbots want to know your location
Dope.
You should delete the timer because when you added the logic gate it added 1 tick delay(25ms) so you doubled the delay
Famous last words: "It hasn't failed yet!"
you should take the "bad tamotos" and have another machine run them through again to make sure almmost 100% sorting
2:31 heavy balls
coooolll man!
Oh wow the random lazers are amazing please someone use them for something
When you are worried, that you don't filter good enough, make the filter stronger and make two consecutive filters: First filter the green out of the red with many false positives (no greens among the filtered reds, but quite a few reds among the filtered greens) and then filter the reds out of the filtered greens and reroute them towards the reds' section.
That is a lot more complicated than just having a single filter that works well. Also in the actual application of tomatos, the green ones are used for other purposes and it probably doesnt matter if there are reds in it.
@@conorstewart2214 It is literally just the filter again and an elevator after it. Really not that much more complicated. And as I said, this is only for the case, that "when you are worried, that you don't filter good enough". If the false positive rate is good enough, you obviously don't need to change anything.
@@m.h.6470 Double the moving parts and double the logic, it may be a copy but it still adds complexity and more that can go wrong, that needs to be avoided in any system that isnt just a hobby project.
@@conorstewart2214 Only needs to be avoided, if it is unnecessary. If the filter isn't good enough - which was the point of my original post - it IS necessary.
@@m.h.6470 except improving the filter is most likely a better option and the filter is probably good enough for its intended application so adding an extra stage is unnecessary.
hi scrapman love the new video
Funny how as soon as I saw the video pop up, my first thought was of the tomato video.
I started watching this video after doing an all nighter, then fell asleep halfway through the video, then woke up and continue watching?
You should try making a worm gear either in this or in instruments of destruction
I think u might have been able to copy another flipper on the green side to send good food back if it goes to the wrong side
"I need a lift to get on top of this thing but it keeps freaking out for some reason."
Bruh, you've got unlimited blocks just make scaffolding. 😅
15:13 The problem is the proximity to the divider, the reds that are getting sent into the green section aren't getting sent because of the flippers, they're getting sent by the exit getting clogged. Raise the entire sorting process 2-4 blocks away from the divider and it'd be better.
You could make a second filter on the bad side to be more accurate
Day 117 of Asking scrapman to make a Machine that make that uses the steal balls and magnets to make the steal ball orbit around your creation with out any thing touching them and try to take out a building with it in instruments of destruction
You should make a gimbal hovercraft in Trailmakers
Move the ramp down because when a lot of balls come in a group they all push each other into the wrong sections but if you had it lower down they would seperate.
So, here's the thing I've learned from the _Primer's coin flip cheater test_ video:
If you're running a test, you can get _positive_ or _negative_ results.
And according to your expectations of the test results, they can be either _true_ or _false._
So,
If you're expecting the test result to be _positive_ and it does indeed return _positive,_ that is a _true positive._
If you're expecting the test result to be _negative_ and it does indeed return _negative,_ that is a _true negative._
But if, by all accounts, the test result is expected to be _negative_ but it somehow returns _positive,_ then you've got a _false positive._
And if, by all accounts, the test result is expected to be _positive_ but returns as _negative,_ then that is a _false negative._
So, if you expect the red "tomato" to pass the green-"tomato"-blocking flipper (assume positive in this case), but it gets pushed into the green "tomato" discard bin (negative in this case), then it is a false negative.
_The More You Know..._
I think you could make the design more accurate by lowering the divide or raising everything else - the tomatoes had a lot more room than the balls do here.
For rando assortd, just built peglin chute n put timer on spawner so it will not overflow.
To be honest for a tomato production line it's way better to let some green tomatoes trough.
Every false positive it's lost money.
To correct for the few greens remaining factory usually have human workers to visually check.
You do know that they have multiple of the same device in sequence, yeah? The first sorts the green from the red. Then two second sorts the green from the red again while an alternate second sorts them sorter red from the green and feeds them back into the main
And it's not so much that it is bad food, it's more that it's not good food yet.
You should make a pedrail. its a weird monowele walker thing.
can we get a "noooooo" compilation
It thinks it will work better if those flippers thingy were a bit highers, I might wrong tho, idk
Idk how this game works but you could probably lower the ramp by like a half block if that’s possible and have less red going into the green while maintaining the little to no green going in red
