Chimera?
That's pronounced Ky-meera.
Thank you. And here come 25 more comments that say this same thing, "I don't care if 24 other people already said it, because he needs to hear it from ME"
@@SNESdrunk Don't feel bad I used to call it Shi-mer-ah 😂
I was about to say something, but then you followed up with the obscure Van Hammer reference, so let it slide. ;)
That was so weird, I'm not a native English speaker, so when I hear someone that is saying a word I'm familiar with in a way I've never heard before I'm always left wondering "wait, is that also a common pronunciation?"
Hey dude, great vid, but it's pronounced "KY-meera." 🤣
Did anyone else enjoy the WCW reference to Van Hammer?
Hopefully we'll get some more references to other Flock members. Lol
Early Van Hammer wcw was rip off of the Ultimate Warrior.
@@Arayig1982 Only in that he was buffed up and had long hair. Beyond that they were pretty different.
@@RudyHarlanPhantomBoom yeah maybe there can be an itchy billy kidman as a boss or playable character lol
@@matthewlane518 Or Perry Saturn as an NPC tutorial guide lol
This game was made by Core Design (later famous for their Tomb Raider series), and game's music was done by Core's in-house musician Martin Iveson. This game was also released for Atari ST and Sega consoles.
i thought this sounded familiar. i remember interviews with the core design staff and they would mention wolfchild now and again.
good to know! although after looking for him online, it seems his surname is actually spelled I-v-e-s-o-n, rather than I-v-e-r-s-o-n
AMIGA AND GENESIS TOO! (best and i jeezush so no at me and i corekt)
I have some cool remakes of Wolfchild's music on my channel if you're interested.
I hope you all have a good rest of your day.
Me too. Also I said good instead of great
Always sucks when you are watching this at 11:40 pm
Senpai noticed me
I feel like comparing this to the Sega versions would have been worthwhile, not least because the CD version includes voiceover saying "chimera"
The Van Hammer reference made my week. Now if only the character had a flying V guitar and was headbanging it would have made my month.
Oh my goodness that title menu screen music alone is worth checking this game out!
Check out Martin Iveson’s music (the conposer) He is an amazing and famous house music producer AKA atjazz and masters for a lot of other famous producers
I have some cool remakes of Wolfchild's music on my channel if you're interested.
So basically it’s “Wise fwom ur guave” for the SNES
not really as there's a megadrive and mega cd version too
Altered Beast meets SNES platforming
Altered Beast was such a good game... I need to replay that one sometime soon.
This game has nothing to do with Altered Beast and it also released on Sega.
When i was looking this game years later i was asking my friends "The game that you become a wolf and can shoot projectiles" They always said Altered Beast, no not that one i already know that Classic game. I remember WolfChild Stage4 was too hard and i never beat this game :(
I think Werewolf: The Last Warrior on the NES is a better comparison.
I'm all for any werewolf games.
Did you know the dude that designed Wolfchild, Simon Phipps, was inspired to make this game after seeing the words on his coworkers belt buckle.
That is pure genius creativity!
his coworker was a wrestler?
I actually really like this game. Yes, the enemy patterns are always the same, but that’s what makes it fun after a couple of playthroughs. Once I learned the patterns it was easier to relax and enjoy the atmosphere and exceptional score. This is one I really enjoy playing every other week or so because it’s a quick playthrough with fantastic ambience.
I haven't played it but it looks really good to me, despite Drunk's meh review.
I love how you dedicate videos to the games that I would see at Blockbuster or Family Video in-stock every week and finally reluctantly rent when there was nothing else to play. Shout out to B.O.B.
B.O.B. was the shit!
You just said van Hammer from early WCW wow you just made my week.😃😃
Totally
Great Van Hammer reference. Hats off to ya.
I used to love this on the MegaCD. The intro used to say "Wolf Child" all Resident Evil style.
As someone who had grown up with the snes, I do enjoy this channel bc it brings back memories of many third party and obscure games that I had. I never did have this one, but I do remember the grumps playing this. Besides all that, I just want to say thanks snes drunk for the many reviews that brings fond memories of Friday nights after school and good games with my brother!!!
Your Van Hammer refrence alone gets you a like.
The music in the Sega CD version is excellent.
The Genesis version as well.
yes! I was about to comment this also
My friend Martin did the music
I've just uploaded a brand new remix of the "Wolfchild" soundtrack. Come check it out. I think you'll enjoy this.
Yes I super agree 100%
I grew up with this game, and still love it. One thing that stuck out with me the most when it came to this game was the amazing soundtrack. To this day, the soundtrack still bumps, especially stage 4’s theme.
This was one of those SNES games that not everyone owned in their collection, or not a lot of people knew about, so I can understand it being an obscure SNES title, but it’s definitely a game I still enjoy to this day being it was apart of my older brothers’ SNES collection I had growing up with and shared with. It’s an okay game now that I play it years later, wouldn’t say its a must play, but goddamn if that soundtrack still doesn’t bring back memories!
Your channel has improved a lot since you started, there’s so much more emotion in your voice than when you started. Love your content!
I remember my dad bought this for me on one of his flea market ventures. I wasn't very enthused, but I appreciated it nonetheless!
This game is one of my favs, I always go back to it
You are the undisputed king of obscure SNES games!
*Ok hmm let me start..... NOW Atari ST, AMIGA, GENESIS/MEGADRIVE GAME GEAR*, (search it on youtube it does exist on game gear) *SEGA CD MASTER SYSTEM AND FINALLY* ..... the snes version
I've just uploaded a brand new remix of the "Wolfchild" soundtrack. Come check it out. I think you'll enjoy this.
I had this game as a kid. The review is pretty spot on. Not good, not bad. I'm pretty sure we bought it for about $10.
I really like the feel of those European action platformers. Wolfchild is a favourite of mine but the version I play the most is the Sega Genesis one. The screen resolution is bigger so it doesn't feel as close to the character and the music is even more funkier thanks to Matt Furniss renditions of the Amiga soundtrack. Also, it feels a little more responsive, at least for me.
I have some cool remakes of Wolfchild's music on my channel if you're interested.
I absolutely loved this game on the Amiga, played it so much as a kid, but could never remember what it was called. This video hit me right in the nostalgia. Definitely gonna play it again now I know what it's called.

Holy parallax scrolling Batman 😂
Great call back to Van Hammer. The Flock one of the best Stables
It's a shame, because this game looks freaking cool! It have almost an Mega Drive like feeling to it.
There was a port to the Genesis in America, I'm guessing for the Mega Drive as well. I used to have the Genesis version, I had the same experience the reviewer did. It looked cool and I gave it a fair chance, but it was just......meh. Nothing exciting about it.
Maybe it lacked the final bit of polish like many Amiga games.
Van Hammer lol. Dude had the look, but was terrible once the bell rang. A little known fact about Van Hammer is that he trained the Briscoe brothers from ROH.
Hey Snesdrunk! I love your videos, you're my go-to for SNES reviews, and I love your reviews of games from other consoles too. have you reviewed Dennis the menace?
Van Hammer. Lol. My first thought was Khan from "Star Trek".
I was going to say Prince Adam from 80's He-Man.
I think I'll give this one shot...looks pretty neat...
Way to go dude, there's still 147 another random plateformers, waiting to be reviewed 😁👍
Dipping into the obscure wrestling references. Van Hammer was a lower card wrestler back in the 1990s was with Ravens flock back in the Monday night wars. I’m surprised you know about him.
gotta love that iconic snes sound.
Little 💩
The amount of razors that went through my spine when bruh kept pronouncing Chimera 😳🤣
I dig the music!
I have some cool remakes of Wolfchild's music on my channel if you're interested.
Looks ok.
I read a few comments in this section and some people was right, this is the NES version/sort of like AlterdBeast- and I noticed some Predator looking characters in the game- lol.
So you're a chimera trying to take down CHIMERA. Seems legit.
Hey, good episode. I would like it if you did "Hey Punk! Are you Tuff E Nuff?", please.
Makes me think of Werewolf: The Last Warrior on NES.
In his werewolf form he reminds me of the stage 4 boss in TMNT 2 the arcade game on NES, the rat boss.
Since you mentioned Gods, I hope to see a video of this...uh...classic in the near future. For whatever reason, the mention of Gods reminded me of Stargate which deserves its own video given the different level designs and multiple endings. As memory serves, I believe it was also left out of adaptations from movies video.
A Van Hammer reference 😂
What emulator downloading service do you use? Also, you’re the best, most honest and objective vg reviewer on youtube, bravo!
First version of this I ever played was the Sega CD version. Speaking of werewolves, would like to see you some day do a vid on Werewolf: The Last Warrior on NES.
The best thing about Wolfchild is that there's a bootleg version of this called Star Wars Jedy where you play as Chewbacca fucking whaling on people.
A Van Hammer reference? That's a deep one bro, deep AF.
I actually loved Wolf Child. I thought it was an awesome game. I even like how the enemies themselves can only hurt you with their firing attacks but can't actually hurt you when they run into you.
Instant thumbs up for the random Van Hammer reference.
a van hammer reference?! SNES Drunk rules
finally a game that i know. thank you for doing this. 👍
Van Hammer references. Nice.
The music sounds decent.
Switchblade II would have made for a great port from the Amiga to SNES I reckon.
Enjoy the rest of your day
This looks like the most early 90’s image-comic looking game ever.
The story and concept is cool
Drunk: "mr. Nuts"
Me: *snicker*
I loved the game just for the music.
This game was a regular in the bargain bin at Kay Bee Toys when I was a kid.
The best games of this kind for the Amiga were Turrican 2 and Ruff 'n Tumble.
Such a sick game
The flunkies in Rival Turph! Lol
I love the comic book on the booklet! Reminds me of black & white indie comics from the 80-90s! Great looking game.
Wasn' t there a Genesis version? I wonder which one is better.
"... and have a good rest of your day!"
SPOILERrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs.
Transforming to a wolf, huh? So, I guess that game is the closest equivalent of a "Altered Beast" game on the snes.
I tend to compare it to Werewolf: The Last Warrior on the NES more.
You mean, that rather obscure game from Data East? Now that you mention it, the parallel is very justified.
For some reason I am loving the action platform genera at the moment
you never mention me in your videos...this makes sense
A+ for the Van Hammer reference 8)
Van Hammer reference, nice.
If I could summarize Amiga development, it was a ton of games with great visuals & incredibly well done music, but things like game physics/feel & level design often seemed like they weren't even considerations. PC games of the era always gave me the same impression, the devs in that scene would put all kinds of effort into various game systems but the feeling of weight was never there. It was like none of them played Super Mario Bros until 1998.
I've just uploaded a brand new remix of the "Wolfchild" soundtrack. Come check it out. I think you'll enjoy this.
It looks like an attempt at a Werewolf: The Last Warrior reboot, with less acrobatics and more shootin'. I saw a copy for sale today and had to know...
Van Hammer WCW 👏👏👏👏
You should do a list of games that deserve a sequel or reboot on next or current gen systems, but ones that have an actual viable chance of being done.
All old games are worth playing today cuz i still play em and todays games i play once and dont play again. And the games were complete unlike games nowadays
I completely forgot this game existed, though I have some rental horror stories about it...
I love Wolf Child for the Sega Cd 💿 video game 🎮 system
Mr Nuts, would not have guessed that was a SNES game lol
So this is basically the Super Nintendo equivalent of Werewolf: The Last Warrior.
Is that Patrick Swayze on the box? 🤣👍
I have the genesis version and believe me it’s better than the snes because the music is epic trusted me it’s a fun game loved it to death, blast the sound with good speakers your gonna need it.
Van Hammer? That was an extremely obscure WCW reference. I wonder where that guy is now.
At least you don't say "bros", the abbreviation for brothers. I imagine people who say it that way also say "der" instead of doctor (Dr.) - Der Mario.
I hope they make a remake of this game
A Van Hammer reference!? Didn't see that coming! Lol
I remember playing this as a kid, might try it again, t's been a looooong time ago xD
Reminds me of run saber a bit
I thought it resembled Swayze on the cover.
"Ohh, my Julian, my handsome Julian, Patrick Swayze, you were so fucking sexy in Roadhouse, and fucking Dirty Dancing."
Is it odd for me to say that the art in that instruction booklet "screams Amiga"?
Reminds of Werewolf: the Last Warrior on NES.
Reminds me of Wolfman: the Werewolf Game
I saw it for the Sega Genesis, I wonder if there’s any improvements on that version
Amiga head here. Never heard of this. Nice!
How is that even possible? 😂
Dude looks like Dark Schneider from Bastard!!
Looks alot like the character from Contra Hard Corps
Paul! You is a whirr-wilf!
Crazy how even as an SNES game, those graphics just scream Amiga.
