How many years of incremental updates add up to a major one for an upgrade?
2-3
For the Apple Watch, I would say 3 years. From series 5, I am aiming for the next one to be worth the upgrade hopefully :)
When Apple develops the battery to make the Apple Watch last up to 15 days and when you make the iPhone give a reverse charge .. then I might think of buying an Apple Watch
I mean I’m on the Series 2 so I think the 7 is a solid upgrade lol.

That's got nothing to do with being 'rich'. I pre-order stuff I want on launch day too, use it and test it out for a week, watch some reviews and read some articles about it during the week, and then decide if I want to keep it or not.

THANK YOU for pointing out that watches don't need to be habitually replaced. I still use my stainless Series 2. Still lasts all day, and gives me all the data I need.

I dont even know a person who thinks that smartwatches are more than a toy.
I’ve waited 3 years, absolutely time to upgrade from the 4 to the 7. I’m impressed, bigger screen, faster charging and cool apps. Boom!

Dieter going crazy over the timer options of the apple watch is the best thing I have seen today
It's odd for me though, tbh. They added multiple timers, but made Siri dumber when it comes to them. I used to just say "7 minutes" to siri, and it'd set a timer. Now, you have to say out the full "Set a timer for 7 minutes," as it won't recognize the former phrase anymore. Seems like a little thing, but it's like TouchID --> FaceID. The latter takes just a bit longer, especially outside, and the amount of times it's used and it's inconveniences adds up over time.
He never addressed if the previous Watch charger will work with the 7.
@@Rocksteady72a To avoid that issue instead of setting a timer for 7 minutes I would just set an alarm in 7 minutes and set another one if I need it to avoid the timer problem.
I love the no-nonsense intro and conclusion. It *does* happen to be time for me to replace my 2017 Apple Watch Series 2, but it's actually done pretty well for me for a heck of a long time. Wish I could've held out for another year to see if any of those slick new health features finally make it onto the watch, but I'll be happy to upgrade to the Series 7 one of these days.

Apple nailed the watch early on and there is only so much you can do until it becomes small updates each year like most phones now.

I upgraded from Series 3. I was hoping the upgrade would lead to far superior health tracking that was more accurate than the series 3. So far, I still notice the same calorie and step metrics are way off. I’m pretty disappointed there wasn’t a major upgrade in the metric tracking of the device

Dieter, can you do a video on what specifically makes Apple Watch so much better than other watches? Most people, like myself, don't get the chance to spend significant time with Apple and Android watches, so I'd like to know
I think this is a pretty good request. I was with Galaxy Watch before and i can whole heartedly say that the Apple Watch has no competition at all with kind of features and the UI implementation that they have

The Verge is bigger than MKBHD regardless of the subscriber count.
He’s miles better than MB
He's quite frankly in a league of his own. MKBHD is more of an enthusiast tech reviewer whereas Dieter brings class and so much poise to his reviews that it's an experience within itself. Verge won't ever be the same without Dieter.
Not sure why there are people trying to pit Marques and Dieter against each other. They've worked together in the past. Both are good at their jobs and each have their point of view.

Thanks for an honest review. I was considering upgrading but have decided against it this year.
I will say I got the 3-in-1 charger that apple says with the wireless charging for AirPods, watch and iPhone and I LOVE it. I rarely run out of battery bc whenever i take it off there's a nice place to hang it. Love it for my phone too. Rarely plug my phone in ever with that thing on my bedside table.
The whole outdoor shots added new life to the video. Loved it.
Still using Apple watch 4 here and it still looks great.
I just upgraded from a series 3 so I feel like it was a decent upgrade.

Upgrading from Series 3 to 7 is just... breathtaking.
I'm still using series 3 and it's still going great with almost 2 day battery life with half hour gps cycling and 1 hour gym workout....
About a year ago, I switched from a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 to an iPhone 12 Pro. It's my first iPhone in over a decade and my Galaxy Watch Active 2 just broke, so I'm now looking for an Apple Watch to pair with my (not so) new phone. I was on the fence about selecting the SE instead of the 7, but decided to go with the 7 after this video. Thank you for all the great information!
i have the Apple Watch series 4, and I buy it because is plenty of features that i don’t have. From the screen always on, to faster communications, faster chip, and better heart tracking sensor. I think there are lots of costumers like me!

Still Rocking my Series 4 Stainless Steel. Was thinking about jumping to upgrade this year, but want to hold off for the design refresh another year. I’ll probably replace the battery though since it only holds an 80% charge now.

Nice, I still use my 2016 aluminum series 2. Battery still great. Couple of scratches and the OS feels slow, but I can still do all of the things important to me: Seeing the time, tracking my activity, paying, sports, picking up a call. But of course, having a bigger screen and always on would still be neat :)
My 44 mm se is awesome, but im picking up my 41 mm series 7 today. Mainly for the smaller body and nice screen and always on.
Hey Dieter, did you guys change mic’s at all recently. This video’s audio is so damn crispy lol.

I upgraded from a Series 4 44m. Well worth the upgrade for me. My Series 4 was having some lag and battery issues.

Thanks for your video. I hate to say it but, you’re right. I really want to go from my Apple Watch 4 to the 7, mainly for the always on screen, but that’s a lot of $$$ to shell out just for one feature. Thanks for talking sense into my brain. Set aside emotion and embrace logic.
This is the first Apple Watch I’ve ever purchased. I’m coming from amazfit gts2 don’t get me wrong it was a nice fitness watch for what I do but you can do so much more with Apple Watch comparably.
I’m still on the OG 2015 watch. I was tempted to grab a series 7, but my honest answers to your questions convinced me to hang on to the OG watch for a while longer. Thanks!

@@jrogor2209 I dunno. It still tells time, buzzes when I get a notification, and tracks my steps. Stop watch and timer still works. 10 years is a reasonable expectation for the lifetime of a watch. The traditional watchmakers would freak out if one of their watches only lasted 10 years.
If I don’t want to keep the display on all the time, could I have it turned off in the settings and have it respond when I raise it up or touch it?

They need a self-charging mechanism that uses your hand motions to charge the battery, like regular analog self-winding watches.

I have had my seiko automatic for 47 years and it still tells the correct time.
