Great video. I don't know if it will work for me because I didn't manage to access the screenshots folder. But this is the first useful video about this topic that I could find. Thank you so much.
I’m glad you liked the video, I hope I’ll be able to help you a little further. But for this other method your phone needs to be both OTG and MHL compatible for it to work: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html
You have to check that the phone is in MTP file transfer mode after plugged into usb (from pulled down notification bar) and/or click allow button as accepting may be prompted on some phones. Somewhat tricky to do blindly, but similar working phone might help to get idea where are UI elements placed.
Hi Olivia thank you so much! This video really helped me with my broken phone!!! I was in panic, because I was unable to force a backup of many things...and you made my day! You are so nice and smart!!! Thank you and cheers from Italy!!
The Screenshots folder cannot be accessed by the pc until you turn on from the phone. The cable is considered for charging purposes only initially. To access phone storage, you need to turn on the file transfer function.
Exactly! I'm stuck with the same issue. My phone is charging as I connect it to my PC but I can't select the option (file transfer) on my phone bcoz the screen is blacked out. Any solution?

While I didn't end up using your exact method, this was the most helpful article with regards to controlling/seeing your screen that I have seen. Everything else always says "just click permissions on phone," not realizing that...well, I couldn't see anything lol. I ended up connecting my phone to the TV so that I could see enough to download a mobile connect program and mirror my phone screen on my computer. From there, things became easier as I was able to connect my phone to my computer after downloading/signing into a program that allowed me to control things from my laptop. Then I was able to see and control everything from the same place.
Hey Olivia, Thanks a heap for the video, i didn't think to try the stylus, you rock! i used this screenshot method and and got it to screen mirroring on the TV and then went from there to do what i needed to get a backup file with samsung smart switch. the hardest part was trying to type the pin in and allowing file transfer when it prompted, took quite awhile and patience but smooth sailing after i was into it.
Just a heads-up, for people who own Samsung S9 or above or Huawei P20 and above you can use a USB-C to HDMI adapter to get into desktop mode for the phone and hook it up to a PC monitor or TV and control your phone through there, it's a good way to bypass the blacksceen
@SKYE LOVER 2003 - I recently made a part 2 to this video that may be able to help: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html In part 2 I show you how to both see your screen and control it in real time even if the screen is broken. INCREDIBLY helpful: thank you. My Galaxy S10+ got a killer impact a work, and I have insurance, so when I got my duplicate phone, I could do the same moves to see the approx. place where the areas were, plus my screen was dimly visible thru the extreme bright screen. TIP: on the lock screen, look up a photo of your model; feeling from the bottom, I could 'find' the lowest button on the right by when it vibrated by touch (OK) button. then I mapped the next button (9) above it and for each I used a dry erase marker on the screen to label the grid; Then it was easy to do my PIN and OK to unlock the phone, a MAJOR help. Hope it helps.
Nice, but the title should be changed to How To Turn On USB Debugging on SAMSUNG Galaxy With A Broken/Black Screen. My case: - Moto G4 Plus used like 3 years ago, - Cracked screen, can'ts see where I am and touch is not working. - Apparently debugger mode is disabled (vysor does not recognize it), despite I remember I always used my moto on colleges for launching android apps that I did on Android Studio. - The waking up alarm sound every 15min lol

@PeePoo Entertainment System - Sorry for taking so long to reply to your comment, but it wasn't until recently that I came up with another potential solution to this problem. The reason your phone's folder is empty is because your phone is either locked or doesn't have file transfer enabled. I recently made a part 2 to this video that solves both of these problems: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html
@SimPrix - I recently made a part 2 to this video that may be able to help: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html With part 2 you should easily be able to unlock your phone. 🙂
@Ahmad Lutfi - I recently made a part 2 to this video that may be able to help: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html In part 2 there are no screenshots required, therefore you do not have to have data transfer already enabled. But if you do want to be able to access your files, I do show you how to do that at the end of part 2.
Great video, @OliviaHenry! Unfortunately, in my case, touch screen doesn't work anymore and needs to be unlocked so the computer can even start "seeing" the connected phone. :-( Anyway, I'll try OTG way and check if I'm lucky to input code the right way - and if that will be enough. Wish me luck!
@@JURO768KUJO Yep. And to be true, I had to do it twice, back 11 months ago and recently I had the screen repaired, broken again, and had to do it again. I have used a USB dongle, connected a keyboard to it, typed the PIN code, ENTER. Then connected it to the computer and it recognized it, showing me that the unlock was successful. Then I've used scrpy (a "remote" Android screen, that needs USB debugging and ADB), and promptly removed security, so even if I turn it off, I never have to worry about unlocking it again.
Then your phone is either locked or on charging only mode. I made a part 2 to this video that may be able to help with both of those problems; no screenshots required: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html

You have to unlock the phone so that windows can access the files, this can be very difficult if you cant use the screen, but for example if you have a fingerprint on the back of the phone that will unlock the phone even if the screen doesnt work.
@)jimjackyeye( - Sorry for taking so long to reply. The reason your phone file is empty is either because your phone is either locked, on charging only mode, or both. I made a part 2 video that may be able to help with both of those problems: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html

Hmmm, so when you go to "My Computer" then click on your phone, there are no files at all? No DCIM or Camera or Photos? Does your phone have a password lock on it? If so, that might be why.

USB Debugging has nothing to do with viewing your screenshots. If you are unable to view your screenshots when you plug your phone into your computer then your phone is either locked, on charging only mode, or both. I made a part 2 video showing a different method for turning on USB Debugging with a broken/black screen; no screenshots required. However, for this other method to work your phone has to be both OTG & MHL compatible: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html
@@OliviaHenry Maybe the android os got more secure recently, one can't just access file system, or turn on OTG, or turn on usb debugging when the phone is locked. Only screen replacement is the solution.
You are brilliant! Thank you for this tutorial! I did have a problem accessing the screenshots folder but I was able to come up with a solution. After connecting to my PC with USB, I did not have the "Phone" folder inside the Galaxy S10 E drive under My Computer. This was due to not being able to see the "Allow" button on my phone. I used working Android to learn where the "Allow" button would appear on my broken device. Once I knew where it would appear, I was able to press "Allow" and the "Phone" folder showed up and I was able to access the screenshots.

Assume me also wow she's as smart as me very innovating smartass video I've seen since the pandemic 2 but what happens if you have a phone that don't have that stylus pen
God bless her for having a brain that works better than most that just give up n lose valuable data you don't wanna lose.. Amen Olivia Henry I'll put you in my next song for this video
This saved me a lot of headache. It was still difficult with all the pin entries, but I managed. Thank you very much for this hack!
You're welcome, I'm glad I could help! 😁
Extra-Tip: Resize the screen shot to approximately match your screen phone size then hold it close to the PC image to get an approximate location of your touchscreen buttons
That's a good tip, thanks for sharing. 🙂
If the Amoled screen is cracked, the screen will no longer function, the digitiser (which detects touch) will still work, but this is a good guide! It will probably work for any android phone!
Great video. I don't know if it will work for me because I didn't manage to access the screenshots folder. But this is the first useful video about this topic that I could find. Thank you so much.
I’m glad you liked the video, I hope I’ll be able to help you a little further. I made another part to this video that may be able to help you access your screenshots folder: ruclips.net/video/iVx5gpU4prs/видео.html
And if that doesn’t work, I have another part showing a completely different method to potentially turn on USB Debugging with a broken/black screen.
@@jamesmaleanethinking to try connecting a USB hub to the phone, 1 cable to the PC and 1 keyboard. Hoping a pop-up appears when connecting to the PC asking if you want photo transfer/files/charging..good luck
Install Dropbox on your phone and on your PC. Screenshots on the phone will be copied to Dropbox/Camera Uploads on your PC. No need for a wire; it goes over Wifi.
@@bbrehm6525 Oh yea, let me just quickly install dropbox on the phone that has a broken screen and I can't see anything on it!
@zachj7621 Mine was installed ages ago. It helped. Sorry if it's not your solution now but it might help someone else to prepare before they have the problem. Maybe your next phone after you give up on this one???
Youre a genius. Even though my phone didnt come with screen mirroring, with the help of the screenshots I managed to turn on USB debugging. Thanks alot and word to the wise turn it on from now if you havent already. It can be very useful in the long run as Ive always heard people talking about it an never listened.
Thank you and you’re welcome, I’m glad I could help! 😁
And that’s a good tip to share with others; with each new phone, turn on USB Debugging just in case you may need it. 😊
Then I was able to see and control everything from the same place.
how did you do connect your phone to your tv?
Hey Olivia,
Thanks a heap for the video, i didn't think to try the stylus, you rock!
i used this screenshot method and and got it to screen mirroring on the TV and then went from there to do what i needed to get a backup file with samsung smart switch.
the hardest part was trying to type the pin in and allowing file transfer when it prompted, took quite awhile and patience but smooth sailing after i was into it.
You're welcome! I'm glad I could help! 😁
You are a genius. I hope you know this. :) I've not tried it yet, but I've got a feeling this will really work. I was at wits end...
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! 😁
Let me know how things work out. 😊
Just a heads-up, for people who own Samsung S9 or above or Huawei P20 and above you can use a USB-C to HDMI adapter to get into desktop mode for the phone and hook it up to a PC monitor or TV and control your phone through there, it's a good way to bypass the blacksceen
But unfortunately can't touch screen broken
@Joe Vilaysone - That is a very helpful solution! 😁
@SKYE LOVER 2003 - I recently made a part 2 to this video that may be able to help: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html
In part 2 I show you how to both see your screen and control it in real time even if the screen is broken. It involves an HDMI and a mouse; HDMI to see your screen and a mouse to control your phone.
Hi, I know it’s a little late to reply, but do you think this will still work if the phone is locked from restart? Like the phone was dead but then charged up but hasn’t been unlocked since restarted. Also the device I wanna try it on is a Galaxy A90 5G, you think it’ll work?
Mam finally i connected my broken phone screen mirror into computer

Thanks a lot for this video. I did not have a note phone or a stylus but I had a phone with a black screen with the touch screen working. This strategy helped me to turn on USB Debugging by taking screenshots and analysing. I was able to connect my phone to the PC. Thanks again!
You're welcome, I'm glad to hear everything worked out! 😊
@@OliviaHenry hi Olivia Henry thanks for the smart idea but i have a old phone it works but a black screen and has a lock of you have to swipe that kind of lock and i cant get the files without unlocking is there any hope?

did you find any solution to that? I have been searching for ages and all videos is just you need to have usb debugging" and theres always a guy asking for how can he acces phone without usb debugging with zero comments

I also want this only 🎭
This helped a lot. My display was broken, but otherwise my phone functioned as normal, so this clever tip helped my a great deal. Thanks!
My case:
- Moto G4 Plus used like 3 years ago,
- Cracked screen, can'ts see where I am and touch is not working.
- Apparently debugger mode is disabled (vysor does not recognize it), despite I remember I always used my moto on colleges for launching android apps that I did on Android Studio.
- The waking up alarm sound every 15min lol
I'm sorry to hear that this method didn't work for you. I recently made a part 2 to this video that may be able to help: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html
In part 2, I still demonstrate using a Samsung, however, people in the comments have said that it worked on their Huawei phones too, so it could potentially work for your Moto G4 Plus aswell. 🙂
brilliant idea. Had to blindly enable file transfer mode, but after few hours of practice I made it. After that, screenshoting my way to samsung tv mirroring and VOILA! Thanks!
You’re welcome, I’m glad to hear everything eventually worked out! 😊

Hey Olivia , basically when I plug my phone into my *Windows 10 laptop and I found my phone folder …. is empty nothing in there
yeah, got the same problem. I think its cause its locked .. and i dunno what to do now :D
Data transfer not enable..
@SimPrix - I recently made a part 2 to this video that may be able to help: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html
With part 2 you should easily be able to unlock your phone. 🙂
@Ahmad Lutfi - I recently made a part 2 to this video that may be able to help: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html
In part 2 there are no screenshots required, therefore you do not have to have data transfer already enabled. But if you do want to be able to access your files, I do show you how to do that at the end of part 2.
holyShit!!! method takes abit to get right but you a life saver!!! thank you :)
You’re welcome, I’m glad I could help! 😁
Thank you! This video is underrated! U found a solution where devs and engineers said there is no solution..
You’re welcome, I’m glad I could help! 😁
Great video, @OliviaHenry! Unfortunately, in my case, touch screen doesn't work anymore and needs to be unlocked so the computer can even start "seeing" the connected phone. :-(
Anyway, I'll try OTG way and check if I'm lucky to input code the right way - and if that will be enough. Wish me luck!
hello did youfind a way ? my touch screen doesn't work as well i'msearching for a tips
You know the problem in my case is that I can't even acces the "phone" folder
So I can't see the screenshots
Then your phone is either locked or on charging only mode. I made a part 2 to this video that may be able to help with both of those problems; no screenshots required: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html
Download Dr.Fone to remove your password
Saw this video years ago. Now it already hit 1M, so congrats. You should make more like this I think (and hopefully the algorithm) this is your niche. Have you try to thinkering on how to bypass FRP?

Genius! my screen is broke and won't register touch but I still found the screenshot idea a pretty good one. I know my folders on my phone will not show up unless I authorize debugging from the actual device first, so this won't work for me but a great idea
i have my phone connected to my computer, it shows up on my "devices and drives" thing on my computer in the this pc section but when i click on the phone icon it says this folder is empty??
You have to unlock the phone so that windows can access the files, this can be very difficult if you cant use the screen, but for example if you have a fingerprint on the back of the phone that will unlock the phone even if the screen doesnt work.
@)jimjackyeye( - Sorry for taking so long to reply. The reason your phone file is empty is either because your phone is either locked, on charging only mode, or both. I made a part 2 video that may be able to help with both of those problems: ruclips.net/video/YF-XNHMZlFU/видео.html

what if my phone is locked and the screen is clack and broken

Amen!

Screen shot idea was awesome. I went usbc to hdmi to a monitor and connected a bluetooth keyboard. The idea came from you. Thanks
i cant access my screenshots😓 is there something i can do still?
Why can't you access your screenshots? Are you unable to find the folder? Is your computer not recognizing the phone?
O. Henry my computer does recognize my phone but there are no files in it for some reason
Hmmm, so when you go to "My Computer" then click on your phone, there are no files at all? No DCIM or Camera or Photos?
Does your phone have a password lock on it? If so, that might be why.
O. Henry yes it does but since my screen is black i dont know how to unlock it
Ok, I found this website with a solution that you could try: www.androidphonesoft.com/resources/access-android-phone-broken-screen.html
Scroll down to Method 3, I think it might work for you.
*I've never tried this before, but the website says it works.
😅Your USB Debugging is already enabled that's why you can see screenshot folder and other folders .
Thank you and you’re welcome, I’m glad I could help! 😁
I’m also happy to hear you were able to find a solution to accessing your screenshots folder. I hope it will be able to help someone else who may have the same problem. 😊
@@OliviaHenry yes! The "Allow" button appears in the bottom right quadrant of the screen. So, if you just press around there until the "Phone" folder appears in the Galaxy drive folder, you should be able to proceed with the screenshot strategy. You saved my butt today! Thank you again!
@@ChiefSupreme6803 Another similar issue which may possibly arise is not having the phone in mtp file transfer mode. Would require a couple more blind touches, but working similar phone would give an idea.
