To this day, even after 4 years of owning mine, I'm still satisfied. It's a great card that, in my country, is still worth the MSRP price, even after 5 years of improvements in technology.
Back when the 20 series was still new, I convinced my friends to buy used 1080 TIs instead of 2060s as the price to performance absolutely killed the midrange 20 series cards. Those were the days when you could get a used 1080 TI for around $300-350.
I still use this card to this day. I've never been a ultra settings kinda guy, and when I bought this, years ago, was just so I could at least run the games I wanted (had a very old card before this one) and if I could or can increase graphical settings it's a bonus. Still brings a smile to my face however when a game does pick the highest setting after doing it's tiny auto benchmark, even though I always tweak it to something lower. Great and fun video as always!
I never understood why ppl don't always wanna ultra settings. I'm quite the exact opposite guy. When I can't crank everything up to max/ultra with the very last checkbox checked I won't play the game and wait for 2-3 years till i get a new card and play it then. Meanwhile i'll stick to e-sports titles. But in singleplayergames you always want to get max visuals other than that there is no point in playing them. It's something else for multiplayer. I myself always sacrifice resolution over higher settings. I remember back in the day I'd play ark survival evolved on everything max epic but at 1080p and resolution 0,8 so even lower then 1080p while my friends went for low/medium 4k/1440p. Never understood why somewone would prefer resolution over more detailed graphic effects. Now I finally got a 3070 and I'm playing cyberpunk 2077 on ultra/psycho at 50 fps 1080p and rdr2(everything including advanced settings at max) with slightly better fps and it's a blast would I have to play that games on only high and not ultra(because getting sub 40 fps) I'd uninstall them and wait for the next graphics card generation.
@@williehrmann "But in singleplayergames you always want to get max visuals other than that there is no point in playing them." Except for little things like gameplay, story, character building, world building, etc. People have priorities for how they play games. I don't give a shit about maxed visuals or 60 frames. While you're waiting several years before you can play a current year game, I'm already enjoying it. I hope the fact that I don't play at Ultra settings triggers you. People like you deserve it.
@@md_vandenberg Well for gameplay and ranked ladder i play e-sports titles lke cs go ,League of Legends etc. In CS:GO i get 800 fps on Max but i cap them to 400 and even lower most settings just to don't have distracting reflections and visuals. Sandboxgames i play for the gameplay, leveling, looting, character building. But singleplayertitles i solely play for visuals and a bit of gameplay of course it has to be fun too. But i always skip all dialogues and the story as much as possible. It's always the same globalist, communism, transhumanism propaganda anyways no matter the game or if its netflix. I'm not that susceptible to brainwash but it disgusts me. So every singleplayer game i play I only get a few important aspects of the story and try to skip the rest. Skipping dialogues saves time to run around and enjoy the great visuals more.
@@anteater1818 yeah i get you. There's definately a big diference in felt smoothenes at higher framerates. 45-55 fps is for me like bare minimum to be playable. But on even 70 fps the game feels 10 times smoother. Nontheless I prefer playing on 45 fps max visuals more than on high or medium settings at 70-90 fps. But that's just me. Also I'm still on a 60 hz monitor but i plan on switching to 144 or 240 hz in a few months. Gonna be an experience i guess. Everybody tells me that they can never go back to 60 but without experiencing it first hand I guess I can't talk about that topic.
Not gonna lie, my 1070 still holds very well to this day. Bought it used a year ago, just before the graphic cards market crash, for half the price of nowadays value. Works perfectly fine and I can enjoy most of new games at high preset holding 60 FPS almost all the time.
Same, I got one used for 200€ and they are now almost double that in my country. I was lucky to get it cheap. Make sure to check undervolting, it does wonders for overall performance and power/heat managment, it makes it a lot quieter.
Yep my 1070ti is still more than fine at 1080p. Not sure I will upgrade for some time as the price/performance of newer cards is insane with the supply and demand.Possibly when series 5000 nvidia's come out, I may go to a 3000 series :p
Nothing has ever beat this card for me, i dont even own one but this card has such a rightly earned reputation for good reason. Stay strong GTX1080, you were the peak of PC gaming
Ultra settings are overrated, as proven time and time again by Digital Foundry. You can usually get massive performance boost by scaling down the slider from ultra to high or better yet; just learn about the different graphical settings and adjust things as per your taste, which is what I do.
I agree. The visual difference between high and ultra isn't big but the performance required increases a lot. I still play in ultra on my 2070 Super which works easily. On my second gaming PC with a 1060 6GB I play on high.
Yup, lower to the high preset, and crank textures up to ultra on a card like this. Maybe a few demanding settings like shadows or volumetrics down to medium.
Still using the 1080, I use an Ultrawide 1440p screen and I can run almost everything at Ultra or High, I don't do much online shooting though so I don't care to much about super high framerates! I bought it with a complete pc (i7-8700, 16gb DDR4 and a lot of storage) for €1500, man those prices were so much better! Weird though I playe cyberpunk at 1440p without a problem, heck I play everything at 1440p!
Had one until mid last year. Paired with a 6600k at 1440p ultrawide. Sold it for a 3070 and while there's a fair bit of improvement if I couldn't sell and upgrade for a cost of around £50 I don't think it would've been worth it. At 40-60fps in everything it really was great.
@Stein Mauer what you mean 3070 worse in performance compared to 1080, isn't it a 40 to 60 percent increase in price to performance if we're talking msrp.
@@wmp0074 well I obviously wasn't being literal to the word. Just saying that for its age it's impressive how it still runs and it should still last a few years :)
People let the number of the GPU model influence them too much. The GTX 1080 was and still is a fantastic card!! 1070Ti could be pushed to match them though as I did with mine
The thing with the 1080 is that it just won't be able to use DLSS and obviously doesn't have raytracing support, so if you're looking for either of those features a 20 or 30 series card is a requirement.
I managed to get a rog strix 1080 used for about £260 about 2 years ago, right before lockdowns hit. I don't play too many modern AAA games besides halo infinite, and even that I run at 1440p high with a locked 75fps. Runs pretty much everything else like a dream.
@@filip4603 yeah my rx480 was £60 in 2019 and that wasn't even the cheapest at the time I saw them go for around £50. Probably wont buy a new PC until things get reasonable or ill just buy a laptop and a console instead.
In 2021, you still can concievably run newer AAA titles at 1080p ultra or 1440p with lower settings, it all comes down to driver support at the end of the day. Hell, an R9 Fury was "dropped" by AMD in terms of game-ready drivers, which is a shame
lol i own 3 of these, they are all good for 1080p low 60-75 gaming if your cpu is up to snuff. it was good for its time and still good today (lifespan wise its probably going on longer than the 560/560ti when they were still viable)
@@mikeymaiku idk about 1080p low being its limit. I am able to run some games at 1440p medium-very high still getting at least 60fps. The only games I have had 'problems' with are red dead 2 and sw jedi fallen order but both issues fixed by simply using resolution modifier. Still got some life in it yet lol
I'm currently using my 1080 for 4K gaming and it does a surprisingly solid job around medium settings, usually reaching around 60fps. Granted I don't usually play the latest 2021 AAA titles, mainly because they're not very good
That pretty good bro your graphic card it's true that's 2021 title boring but I will still waiting for elder scrolls 6 it's coming this year and fallout 6 both my fav open world games
@@Kinsky_isbored As much as I also look forward to TESVI, I highly doubt it will be releasing this year. Bethesda has to release Starfield first, after which point they will really get to actively developing TESVI. It will probably be at least a few more years before TESVI gets launched.
I remember buying my 1080 Ti at launch for $750 was nearly heart attack inducing, but in hindsight has turned out to be one of the best PC investments I've ever made. The market is SO broken it's going to become detrimental to PC gaming overall if things don't settle down soon.
People who did not sell it, now is the time, they sell them at 600-700 euros, it's crazy, if sold for 700 it's small extra pay for 3070, they can be found occasionally under 1000e i think
@@Heru3005 3070 and CPU choices and multitasking is way superior to any console. It's worth the price difference (well not at current scalper prices). I know some people that gonna waste 500 or more for useless phones where phones at 200e can also do the same job. But are saying that 'its too much' for GPUs that costs 500 or more. People are strange :)
I had this exact model, I got it as a replacement from the store as my Founders Edition died. It was a great card for its day, if a bit noisy under load
This was my first high end graphic card, I bought a refurbished one from amazon in 2017, I still have it in a sleeper build. I think it aged very well and with the current component shortage and Nvidia still releasing 4GB cards it'll keep running games for a while.
Don't call it the 1080 for nothing, it's the king of 1080p gaming. I have a feeling that 1080p is still going to be used the next few years as a default "sweet spot" resolution.
I play some games at 100+ FPS on my 144Hz monitor. Wouldn't be able to do that if I wasn't playing at 1080p. Admittedly 1440p/75Hz would be perfectly playable on my rig and the frametimes probably would be more consistent with the 0.1% and 1% lows I just really REALLY like 144Hz. It's a problem. Send help.
It really is, I managed to get a 3060 for 1080p 144hz and it's been a good, I reckon I will be using this configuration for years to come, let's see how long they go.
For sure. It would have already taken a while to transition to 1440p, but especially with the current silicon shortages, certainly added couple more years tacked on to that transition time.
Seeing as Its the card in my desktop, I'm not to surprised. I run a 1440p 144hz monitor. I had hoped to upgrade the card by now. But the market seems to have decided for me lol
I got a 1080 used back in the earlier half of 2019 and its been great ever since. My brother has had his since the card launched and I convinced him not to upgrade for some time yet since we both play at 1080p anyways. My oldest brother even recently bought a used 1080ti. They are still fantastic cards and part of one of the best generations of GPUs in history in my opinion.
Still rocking my Aorus OC 1080 Ti and it's a beast. Bought it for 400€ 2 years ago used and it was in new condition. Great deal and it still holds up. I can pretty much play any game.
Thanks for putting the venerable GTX 1080 on the spotlight again, Steve. This gpu really aged well and is still more than capable of pumping out a good amount of framerates. I can attest to this as I still rock a Galax EXOC 1080 in my rig.
Still have my EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 though will look to upgrade when the next AMD cards come out. It doesn't have a problem with running games on max settings but as you say, it's not worth changing to ultra settings nowadays even though it's still possible for most games.
I've had the GTX 1080 mini for years now. It was my first high end card that I only was able to get since the 20 series was out. Now I can't even buy one of these for any reasonable price. I am glad to still have it as I wait to upgrade.
I bought a pre-built gaming PC in 2018 that has a GTX 1080 in it with 16GB RAM and an Intel i7 processor. It still performs near flawlessly to this day after nearly 4 years of use. Thinking about upgrading to the NVIDIA 2070 Ti.
Yay it finally happened. Cards that were kings when i first started watching this channel are now getting featured in it. I remember when you reviewed the original titan.
Definitely the “ultimate stuff up” by Nvidia this GPU! Never again will we get such a great performing & power efficient GPU for such a vg price again! Long live the GTX1080 🥰🥰🥳🎉
The GTX 1080 is somewhere between a 2060 and 2060 Super in most games. Still very respectable for 1080p or even 1440p in a lot of games. I had one until December 2020. It ran Jedi Fallen Order at 1440p high detail at 60+ FPS.
I have the same card but it's the Gaming G1 version, bought in 2017. I still play all games without any problem, most of them at about 100fps in 1080p medium settings. I don't need max settings for first person shooter games as I have a 144hz monitor and frames matter more than quality. I play mostly Warzone, Assetto Corsa with Oculus rift and some PUBG, the frames per second are more than enough. Oculus rift never drops FPS!!!
Back on launch day my brother who is far more into gaming than I am bought a 1080ti, I know it's not the same as the regular 1080 but to this day he is still 90 percent happy 90 percent of the time. This generation of GPU has held up very well.
In all fairness, one can tell that the 1080 is aging rapidly nowadays, however, the 1080ti with 11GB of VRAM, more cuda cores and way faster speeds is still a beast to this day. The 1080ti is barely younger than the 1080 and delivers so much more performance, but yeah, pricing is way higher...
@@MichaeltheORIGINAL1 what problem!? Ti uses a lot more power than 1080. Good airflow will bring temp lower, but still there will be difference in temps between GTX 1080 and 1080ti.
Still using my EVGA 1080 hybrid to this day, running 3440x1440, i gotta drop most games down to medium and low to get my 60+fps but it's a solid card nontheless
I still have my GTX 1080 founders edition, AND ITS A BEAST. i got it for 130$ and it runs Valorant at 240fps+. I also play VR on the quest 2 at the full 120fps its really nice. (a bit loud but manageable)
I got an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW, model... still a great card and I have also managed to get another 75mhz out of the core and 375Mhz out of the memory.... given it is already heavily overlclocked out of the gate that is some pretty impressive increase.
Finally someone who aknowledges how good this card really is. I had an rx590 and it was complete rubbish. Really hot, High tdp aswell and not so many fps. I exchanged it for an used 1080 FE and I couldn't be happier, what an upgrade
the 1080 is so good when i upgraded and built my wife a new pc around it she asked me why i needed a better card lol. i didnt i just wanted one. this is still a beast and that 8gb frame buffer of gddr5x makes it still a really good option used if you found it for like 250 us dollars or less. realistically should be like 150 max imo but tis what it tis.
Hello there. Like the video! I was using an EVGA GTX 1080 SC up until a few weeks ago, just before christmas 2021. Played everything with 2560x1080. Joined with an i7 7700K and 16GB of DDR4 RAM, it was still going strong. Even Cyberpunk on ultra. It only went slightly below 60FPS on Cyberpunk every now and then. Have now replaced it with an i7 10700K, 32GB DDR4 RAM and an RTX 3080. Am now playing on 1440p and 240Hz. Nice...
I had a 1070ti that I was very happy with for a while before getting a 2070 super that I am very happy with still because I got it retail price before the chip shortage.
Short answer: Still yes Used to have an EVGA GTX1080 FTW, downgrade to RX580 8GB because the 1080 is too underutilised and im not using 100% of the card. Such a beast, but currently using near performance rtx2060
I got my 1080 just as the 20 series came out, as a replacement for my old 960. It's held up fantastically and I am forever grateful I got it when I did.
I own the gigabyte 1080 g1 gaming for 5,5 years. Just one 8 pin connector. The card consumes 220 watt max. Compare it to the 400 + watt consumption of a 3080 and you realize there is no real evolution in GPUs performance.
This just shows how well Pascal has stood the test of time. I still have a GTX 1080 Ti in my system, and it can still play games well at 4K (albeit with custom settings). It might just be the greatest generation of graphics cards that Nvidia ever made
It is a absolutely fantastic card the gtx 1080 ti. Way ahead of it's time. Prices have gone through the roof now, and I am that hillariously stupid idiot that bought a rtx 3090 for litterly $3100. I am the last person to have the right to complain about prices, but hey I can atleast play microsoft flight simulator at 4k ultra with more than 50 fps most of the time, sometimes even 60. Every single card now is basically not worth it to buy, because of the absolutely stupid prices. That was my point
@@cool_bug_facts yes, and that's only news to people who haven't used a custom built PC in the last decade. I struggle to see your point. It's been a while since GPUs have become truly obsolete. Any GPU that can play 8K video is going to be useful for something for very long time (and pretty much every GPU made in the past 5 years can accelerate 8k video, even if it's not done by a hardware decoder). "Obsolete" hasn't meant what it used to for a good long while. Heck, it's even changing the meaning of "gaming grade", since even low end GPUs from nearly a decade ago can play many modern games (as you know by being a viewer of this channel, no doubt).
I bought my GTX 1080 Founders Edition when it was launched back in 2016, starting to show its age finally after half a decade but I’ll hold out for another generation. My 4790k is lacking nowadays though.
Got a 1070 for £85 when GPU prices sky rocketed last year and still think it’s a amazing for anything you really wanna do. Next upgrade will be a whole pc. (Sold my 1060 3gb I upgraded from for £160 same day, felt bad but it is what it is)
i own a 1080, may i say its crazy this old ass card still do its job so well, probably due to stagnation in gaming performance morethan anything else but still a great piece of kit
I feel like I just got my brand new 1080 rig, and now I'm seeing a RGiHD discussing how much you need to reduce the graphics settings in modern games for the card I thought I went completely overkill with a few years ago.
I was lucky and picked up a EVGA GTX 1080 FTW edition for only $200 USD back in May,2020. I got such a good price cause this guy selling it lived in a small town 80 miles outside the Los Angeles metro area, Barstow for anyone familiar, so I picked it up and used about $15 of gas so it was a big win for me lol, I’m still very happy with the 1080 since I only have a 1080p 144hz monitor, most new games on medium or high get around 90-100fps even BF2042 so I’m still happy especially with everything being overpriced
I still currently use a gtx 1080 and I still love it! I did manage to get my hands on a 3060 card but I'm surprised the 1080 has held up so well throughout the years!
I have this exact card, and for the games I play, it does a fantastic job. Paired with an R5 1600 and playing at 1080p I can get 120fps on the games that need it, and 60fps everywhere else. I don't plan on upgrading any time soon
I had this windworce edition and the fan noise was insane 😆 But I would have kept it for a few years but somehow a local retailer had a MSI 3070 in stock for 590 euro's some months ago. Did not regret upgrading
Thanks for the test. Just would like to add this. You would have gotten even better frames with a better of cpu, it is bottlenecking that 1080 by around 25%(as much as 30% in certain games) close to 30fps loss roughly. With my 9900k im getting 1440p/120-144fps in most games with most low-medium settings. Its insane how well this card holds up. I wish more people were aware of this bc if you dont care about Ray Tracing, you can find a 1080 for $150-175 and have great 1080-1440p high refresh rate gameplay. Which i think is enough for 95% of people out there(we all know Majority are on 1080p still). No need to spend $500+ or whatever on a card to have a good 1440p experience, my 1080 overclocked can give me same frames as a 3060 pretty much. Still has good amount of vram at 8GB's, it'll play 1080p perfectly fine for even more years to come. Grab one!
I remember buying it at the beginning of 2018 for $700 brand new. I have the exact model that you presented and it's still going hard. I tweaked the settings in PUBG for it to work at 120-140 FPS, G-sync On, on a 34" 3440x1440 144Hz Monitor. I'm really happy with this card!
As an owner of Gigabyte Gaming OC GTX 1070, your video warmed my heart 🥰 These then higher-end Pascal cards are still capable today, I'm running an ultrawide 1080p screen and high settings are never a problem. There is a little hack for us gamers without G-Sync screen - I can overclock my 60 Hz screen to 75 Hz, but also downclock it to 55 Hz (and 50, too.). I cannot tell a difference between 55 Hz and 60 Hz, but the added fluency (frame drops to higher 50s on 60 Hz are now gone) is perfect.
Received a 1070 Ti from my generous friend in this current market and as a former laptop integrated graphics user, I’m blown away with how it runs games to this day.
I replaced my 1080 last year, as I was lucky enough to get a 3080 for MSRP. That said, I would still be very happy to be rocking my old card if I didn't get that opportunity. While it's a bit under-powered for the latest games like RDR2, Control, or Cyberfraud 2077, it also does well in many others such as DOOM Eternal and Sekiro. It served me very well for 4 1/2 years.
Another fantastic video! I’m rocking a 1080, gaming between 1080p and 1440p depending on the game and man, I’m still impressed with this little guy. Funny that this card was big for back in the day and is now the little brother. I’ll be holding onto mine until I have to scale my games down to low on 1080p.
Got the GTX 1080 G1 gaming card Nov for £250 for my boys birthday in Feb. Was clearly well looked after and a bargain I reckon. Good to see what sort of gameplay he will be getting, thanks. Will be playing at 1080p 144hz
Good video.... very informative and straight to the point. I bought an Open Box Asus Strix GTX 1080 around July of 2017 for $520 at newegg..... and it's still smashing it at 1080p. That's about when miners began to disrupt the GPU market during the last mining frenzy.
I recently picked up a 1080 as part of a pc parts deal. The package came with an AMD Ryzen 5 2600, A 650 watt thermaltake bronze PSU, a Gigabyte B450 mobo. It was only missing a hard drive, and ram. The 3 fan case was in great shape, with phenomenal airflow. All for $350 including shipping, from Mercari. There are deals out there if you look hard enough!
i still have gtx1080, and i'm happy, it's still playable expiriance with this card. Of course my monitor is 1080p. 😄 Great video as usual, keep going! Chears!
It’s crazy to think this card is as old as it is, I’m still using a PNY GTX 1060 3gb XLR8. With the way things are now most of us can’t even upgrade, even with used hardware. I would upgrade to this or the 1080 ti if it was available for a good price.
Still have my 1080 from 2016, i upgraded to a used 2080 ti right ampere launch for about 500$ . Personally I just cant get rid of my 1080 . its become one of my sentimental possessions ive begun collecting . Currently running it in my home server for now. its an EVGA GTX 1080 ftw 2
Bought a 1080 Ti used for 200€ in February 2020 and couldn't be happier with it. Works like a charm and you can crank pretty much anything. I use it a lot for VR games.
I still use it as a WQHD Card and it runs still pretty well. It is only in VR and also whilst building my own UE5 Games, where its limits are clearly visible. Yet still an amazing card which i got 2 Years ago for 250 Bucks
The problem i face now as a gtx 1080 owner is that i have to pay more than i paid for this in 2017 to get even a minor upgrade, because of the gpu prices atm. I suspect this will last me for some years still. It`s only a little less powerful than my ps5 after all
I'm in the process of putting together an SFF build, this is extremely helpful since I'm a bit tight on budget and still using a 1080p monitor. Might still try for the 1660, but glad to know that the 1080 still keeps up
I am currently using an Asus Strix 1080, that has lots of room for overclocking and more performance with the added extra 6-pin power connector. the thing still runs like a beast and handles 1080p max settings over 100fps with a stable overclock (2100mhz on core and +40mv with power percent increased to 110%) Still an amazing card!
That's nice core clock, just pay attention to temps. My ZOTAC boost runs at 1900 something, with 70c average. It's enough for me for high settings FHD in newer games.
I still run a 1060 6gb that i got in January 2018 for 200€ still in the box ran one time for testing (it was a steal). I won't lie that it doesn't run all games at ultra or high for the most demanding titles but for the games i play, it still does very good and doesn't show any sign of fatigue. Imo it's one of the best card ever released for the money. If you're searching for a gpu to play 1080p competitive titles or demanding title and you don't mind to lower a bit some graphical settings, it's still a great buy if you get a good deal, even more nowadays where you can't even get a 2xxx or 3xxx gpu for a reasonable price. I'd also add that i play VR on it, and it manage 60 fps which is impressive.
Still using this bad boy on my computer with a 1440p 170Hz monitor today and it still easily reaches those FPS at that resolution on ~5 yo games. As for more recent games I still get consitent 60 FPS on High/medium settings @1440p. It's carrying me through the GPU crisis like a champion. Easily the purchase I'm the most content with these past few years, the performance per $ on this card at retail price still blows my mind.
still rocking a 1080 thanks to the insane scalper market never coming back to earth - Itll do, and still DOES to this day 90+fps 1080p at medium/high settings - most games i set to low and can get my monitor framecap of 165... insane card for being built in 2016 no doubt! Pro tip: turn off shadows/ambient occlusion and any post processing first - the presentation may not be as fully 'in depth' because of lack of AO, but i found turning those settings off in almost any game i play with the 1080 while keeping the other settings to high/ultra i always maintain a 100+ fps average.
Got my Evga Ftw 2 1080 back in 2017, had it in multiple builds until it started to artifact and retired it. Until recently after alot of knowledge gained over the years fixed it up to the best of my abilities and now it works again. De-Shrouded with noctua fans, undervolted heavily etc. Now its in my Fractal Node 202 custom looped build as a VR build! Amazing card still today
I am currently daily driving an AMD Ryzen5 1600X and GTX 1070, and been pretty happy with the performance in most of my games at 1440p. Cyberpunk, I play at 1080p and about 30-60 FPS, I know I could get more but, I am not willing to turn the settings down much more than I have them now. With the processor at 4GHz all core, memory at 3,200MHz and the GPU at 1.9-2.0GHz, I am pretty happy.
Still have my 1080, it's not like I can buy anything new. It keeps still chugging along, runs pretty hot now though. I would like to replace the thermal paste, but it's something I have no experience with. And if I mess something up, it's not like there are cards to go and buy to replace it. But even in 2022 these cards can still keep up, I play on 1440p with high settings. And the card still gives great performance, they really are fantastic cards. Just hope it can get me through the pandemic, chip shortage, scalper apocalypse. To a point where I can finally upgrade to a card, that isn't a paper launch for the most part.
To this day, even after 4 years of owning mine, I'm still satisfied. It's a great card that, in my country, is still worth the MSRP price, even after 5 years of improvements in technology.
My 1060 6gb could probably still go for retail price its sad

1080 is a good card but 1080ti was a beast and it costed just a tad bit higher than 1080
Back when the 20 series was still new, I convinced my friends to buy used 1080 TIs instead of 2060s as the price to performance absolutely killed the midrange 20 series cards.

@@williehrmann kinda same... for games like competitive minecraft I prefer good detail but I also want as much fps as possible

I've just commented the same sort of thing, Digital Foundry could have enlightened gamers long before they first did though
I'd rather see a little bit less details and shadows and play with smooth fps 👍
DF recommended some ultra settings on halo infinite
Excellent. But can it play Mineswee - I mean Crysis? 😁
Similar set up that i had before i got my 3080, and this 1080 was a beast and still is on my partners PC...plays most games on High, at 60fps

I'm really happy with this card!
i5 8400, 16gb of ddr4 3000mhz, gtx 1080, 480gb ssd, 1tb hard disk, is my dream pc :D
As an owner of Gigabyte Gaming OC GTX 1070, your video warmed my heart 🥰
These then higher-end Pascal cards are still capable today, I'm running an ultrawide 1080p screen and high settings are never a problem.
There is a little hack for us gamers without G-Sync screen - I can overclock my 60 Hz screen to 75 Hz, but also downclock it to 55 Hz (and 50, too.). I cannot tell a difference between 55 Hz and 60 Hz, but the added fluency (frame drops to higher 50s on 60 Hz are now gone) is perfect.
eventho i recently upgraded from a 1050ti to a 6700 xt, i still love watching these vids
Wow congratulations
Jealous AF 🙂
Exactly the same for me, 1080 to msrp 3080.
However the 1080 is still good for sure.

So glad I got an RTX 2070 Super back in march 2020 mined it, made money back, and still running games at decent setting 1440p 120fps
I would upgrade to this or the 1080 ti if it was available for a good price.
you get it at best buy?
My first high-end card, the Palit version. Still using it in our household.
It almost feels like it was yesterday that 10 series came out. Can't believe it's almost 6 years old now. Damn.
Bought a 1080 Ti used for 200€ in February 2020 and couldn't be happier with it. Works like a charm and you can crank pretty much anything. I use it a lot for VR games.
I have been watching this channel since the 1080 was a new card. Oh how time flys! And the 1080p sells for more now than it did in 2016. Such a shame.
Back in 2018 I had one with a Ryzen 1700x, 16gb, 500gb nvme ssd, etc. That was a monster.
I just realized I’ve been subbed for 5 years
I’ve really seen everything
Still got my 1080 and it's going great.
Half a decade old GPUs represent. Still rocking my Vega 64 Liquid and its holding up nicely through these trying times.
Fidelity FX 2.0 is going to bring some extra life back to this card. I'm still happy with my 1080 and I don't plan on upgrading for another 2-3 years.
