I have a small 25" Ultrawide 1080p 60hz monitor paired with it so I simply shoot for 60fps gaming and even newish games I can get to run at 60fps and looking great. It was sad to retire my GTX 1080. That thing was there for me during some rough times. It was my first high end GPU and I remember being so excited while waiting for it to come in the mail. Good times.

I’ve been running this gpu since it came out but one thing about this exact gpu the rgb lighting on the fans do tend to go bad like mine and the hdmi and display port also fried but it is still a very good gpu and other than that I’ve had no other issues with it and they still update the card two so ya I recommend the card two as a user of it

I'm actually currently playing Cyberpunk again, my 1080 is at 2025 MHz, I'm getting around 100 fps on 1440p medium settings FSR Quality, with an FSR FG mod, its awesome and works incredibly well, GoT also ran with the same settings at around 80 fps

I recently gave a GTX 1080 to a friend of mine (they had a 1050Ti, ouch) until they saved up for a 4070Ti super. They are still using 1080P displays and it holds up for every game they have played on it (Don't worry, they are upgrading to high refresh 1440p monitors soon, I know the 4070Ti/s is overkill at 1080p). They recently got their new card so I will have to get it back and see if anyone else needs it for a while. I hate letting old GPU's that still have good gaming life in them collect dust.

Before CD project Red upped the specifications for cyber punk it did 60fps fairly comfortably, I had a 1080 before it died sadly, it sits on the shelf now. But when they changed the minimum specifications for statue of liberty dlc, ( Yes I know that's not what it's called) a lot of people will find they can't play the game they bought. Just another thing that get's glossed over, because it's popular now sadly.

Especially the 1080Ti with its 11GB GDDR5X VRAM pool. It may not have RTX features, but it can run most games at 1440p no problem.

I have the same ROG Strix model to this day. It is a great card, but some NVIDIA driver updates seem to be capping the GPU's performance. Comparing some Valorant videos that I have, in the past I had way higher fps.

  • @PabloB888

I just upgraded my old 3770K (2012) CPU to a 7800X3D, but I will have to wait until August to upgrade my GPU, until then I am still gaming on the GTX1080 Palit Gamerock OC. My model is dead silent (in a good way😅) and OC like crazy out of the box. At 2.1GHz I get 52fps at 4K in Rise of the Tomb Raider which is only 15% slower than the stock 1080ti 60fps (I had the 1080ti for two years).
I was happy with the performance of the GTX1080 until about 2022 (all games from my steam run at 1440p 60fps with some tweaks at worst), but PS5 ports like TLOU1 or UE5 games are just too much for this GPU even with medium settings.
In TLOU1 I get 22-35 fps at 1440p (high settings) which is not playable, but thanks to FSRQ I can get 35-45 fps which is somewhat playable on the gamepad.
I was not completely happy with the performance of this game, so I bought a used 2080ti and wanted to keep it until the RTX5080 launch, but it was not in good condition, so I returned it because it's GPU core was stuck at only 1350MHz. But even at 1350MHz the 2080ti was massively faster than my GTX1080 in TLOU1, I saw something like 52-65fps at 1440p native, and 70-80fps with DLSS (that's like two GTX1080s), so if someone can get 2080ti in a decent condition I would definitely recommend upgrading GTX1080 to this 2080ti card, it has GTX3070 performance and 11GB VRAM (so it's not VRAM limited like 3070).
I also think turing cards have much better drivers compared to pascal GPU's, for example I get something like 70-85fps in witcher 3 (with the mixture of high / uber plus settings) but as soon as I enable SSR at high settings performance drops to around 28fps on the GTX1080. On the RTX2080ti, turning SSR to high resulted in only a slight fps loss so game was still running at around 80fps and that tells me there's something wrong with the pascal drivers for this game. It's similar story in Ghost Of Tshushima, turing cards massive performance boost compared to pascal. I think Nvidia is no longer optimizing drivers for Pascal GPUs, so IMO the days of GTX1080 and 1080ti are finally over. But it's still amazing how long I could play on Pascal GPUs without issues, the combination of overkill performance (back in 2016 people thought even the GTX970 was more than enough, let alone the GTX1080) with enough VRAM made Pascal GPUs extremely long-lasting.

Really good card. I repleaced mine last year because the the card was getting too slow for 1440p. But I can´t complain, bought it in 2016 for 540€, a fair price for a card that lasts 7 years in my Rig.

  • @danimv1329
    @danimv1329 2 месяца назад

One thing to note about the price, you always have to take into acount the inflation, and in the last four years it was insane.
In my particular case, in my country, Spain, the SMI (minimun salary) in 2016 was 750€, so a 600€ graphic card was pretty expensive in reality. Now SMI is 1100€, so is at same balance right now to a graphic card around 800-900€.
As always, good video for sunday.

You can oc these pretty decent and undervolt it at the same time. The gigabyte gtx 1080 gaming oc here does 2035/2050 mhz core and +400 mhz on mem with 85% power limit. Makes it nice and silent. It has the crappy micron memory, with the samsung modules you can probably oc memory way past this.

This card is something else. I never owned one. I had the 1050 Ti, which isn't relevant anymore. Now I have an RTX 4080. Works well, but I don't think it will ever be praised like the good old GTX 1080
