Aurora is a story teller and not all her songs are necessarily about her, it happened quiet, i see it as a crime of passion. There's a fight and the man pushes the story teller out the window, all the noise stops with that mistake, everything is in slow motion as they fall to their death. "Painting the ground red" and they come back as a ghost and haunt the man. It is kinda dark
Seeing that song live definitly adds some understang!
But as she has said, she thinks songs should take new meaning for different people. Like some people, including myself, connect the lyrics to the repercussions of sexual assault.

The song Infections of a Different Kind actually has a story behind it which is quite beautiful, she said this in an interview:
"I was at an airport, it was late, I was alone and my plane was the last one to leave. It was the year before I wrote the song, so 2016, which was a hard year for me because it was quite busy and I was sick all the time - I was in the hospital many many times. So yeah, at the airport… I was on my way home again, I felt a bit out of place, out of my own body, and then I looked at this family. I saw two very tired parents, and then this little girl - she was maybe 3 years old - and she seemed to give them so much joy, even though they were very tired. And she gave me a lot of joy. And then I saw an old couple, leaning over to look at the little girl who was smiling back at them. She seemed to interact with almost everyone at the gate, and make everyone happy. Without even knowing it. And I loved the way happiness and love can be so… simple? Don’t underestimate the power of a child. It was just very magical to see how much it affected everyone and everything.
If I was to choose a religion, I would love it if god would be something that you can touch. Something like a little girl, on this earth, and not something that is far away or judges from above, you know?"
Edit: Oh and It Happened Quiet is actually about r*pe. So that's that one...

I love how you connected the feeling of transcending in All is Soft Inside. I think that theme connects well both this album and the next one. I am looking forwards to you hearing A Different Kind of Human.
Also, infections of a different kind, a different kind of human, and the ending track, mothership, from the last album are a bit of a trilogy. They are beautiful to listen together.

I happened quiet has 2 fantastic versions that is, in my opinion (taste), better than the album: one in Nidarosdomen concert and the gitar only version from Live at the current.
Thank you. All is soft Inside is my favourite from Step 1. Btw your not supposed to imagine UFO’s until Step 2 😉. All the songs on this album are just amazing. You should watch her perform Churchyard at KEXP either privately or a future reaction.

The version of Churchyard from KEXP Iceland blows the album version out of the water; you will love it.

Dont know if someone spoke about this in the live chat. But I heard Aurora spoke about the "be god in the shape of a girl" part in some interview. She said something in the line of, that she was'nt feeling werry positive about anything. And she was sitting in an airport, when she suddenly noticed this little girl wandering between all the people. And this little girl brightened up the mood of everyone she came in contact with. Watching this girl infecting everybody with positivety and love, Aurora got the idea for the album. Hence Infections of a different kind.

You need to listen to the KEXP live ... the one in Iceland (there are 2 different KEXP concerts on RUclips!). All songs are great but churchyard and All is Soft Inside are epic! You will not be disappointed :-)

Soft Universe is one of my favorite Aurora songs, I don't know why, but I love the sensuality and vibe of the song
"It Happened Quite" maybe the follow up to "Murder 5,4,3,2,1", the moment of consciousness after death. They say the bullet that kills you you won't hear it come. "returning from the shadows" perhaps a haunting of sorts. "Bed red with blood " perhaps self explanatory. " Love is wild" under the circumstances.

22:57 lol......THIS is why I love your channel so much. Your reactions are pure empathy lenses. That's precisely how I felt, the first time I listened to that part of that song. The way she draws out the word "All....." sounds like a pure crystalline alpine winter bright blazing blue sky after months of darkness and depression. The only other song that makes me feel that exact emotion is The Beatles song Because. Specifically when they all harmonize in various ways on the last word of each line. I love a lot of Aurora songs....but All is Soft Inside and A Different Kind of Human mean a LOT to me.
And Infections of a Different Kind of course. Oh and Soulless Creatures, needless to say. And A Dangerous Thing for sure. OH.....cannot forget The Woman I Am, which blew my mind honestly. Then there's Winter Bird. The bridge/outro of Murder Song. The Nidarosdomen version of Little Boy in the Grass....the prechorus alone makes my soul want to weep with joy _and_ pain. Speaking of weeping....The River, definitely a favorite.
And last but not least.....Wake Up. A song that is an unreleased demo of all things, but might be my single favorite song she's ever made.

But you just kinda blew my mind.....
You were pointing out all the subtle nuances and intricacies you're hearing on headphones....and it just dawned on me. I've NEVER listened to ANY Aurora on headphones. O_O Mind you, I'm a rabid super fan. I've heard all her songs at least 30 times each, and many far more than that. But always thru my speakers...which granted, are quite nice.
But great music is always best....on great headphones. And I'm only just now realizing there's an entire universe of Aurora music I've practically never heard, or barely heard.
I need to resolve this......straight away. So...thanks for bringing this deficit in my life to my attention!

Just found this channel, love your thought processes on this remarkable album. The unique backing music arrangement with her phenomenal voice and lyrics that really does transport the listeners. That’s probably an inadequate cliché, yet actually happens with me on each listen!
The track Soft Universe with her voice soaring into the ether, is probably what got her the part of the sprite that haunts Elsa with a spooky rendition of the Gregorian Chant ‘Dies Irae’ (also used in The Shining) in Disney’s Frozen 2 on the song _Into the Unknown_ for which she has also done a full cover of the same song on her own channel.
Oh, and my favourite track is Gentle Earthquakes. Musically with the thundering drums like accelerated heartbeats in places and undulating bass effects, vocally and lyrically with a magical unearthly performance about earthly feelings.
I swear this song is about lovers out in the remoteness of nature, making love while looking into each other’s eyes. _My heart, my head, my mind!_
If you love part one you're going to LOVE part two. From what you talked about I feel like part two will really resonate with you.
Aurora honestly changed my life for the better. Favorite artist, her songs are cleansing and transcendent pointing to the interconnected ness of all life on earth and beyond. I did want to also point out around 33:51 you mentioned that her voice trills up and out often and I believe that’s somewhat reminiscent of a Nordic ( I think it stems from Sweden or at least the word but it seems to harken to that) herding call called küling : Jonna Jinton, a large Swedish creator on this app, has great examples of this type of melodic trill and call. Deeply resinous sound that if in the right area could be heard at long distances. Or in Aurora’s case the distance of her call is aimed to reach inside the depths of the soul and spirit and draw it near. I’ve always loved it ❤

I’m not sure if anyone has already told you this, but “It Happened Quiet” is basically a follow up to “Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)”
You have to listen to the KEXP live Churchyard, It's somehow even more amazing than the studio version! (just a suggestion, I'm really passionate about that version, haha! It's one of my top favorite songs)

I had a dream last year, I was on earth, but the earth explode so I was thrown through space. While I was flying, I turn my head towards the sun, and it was Aurora's head. Or her head was in the sun. She was just smiling. I remember her hair and her warrior painting on her face. Everything was beautiful. There was a lot of colors, pink, red, blue, green, yellow... It was the most colorful dream that I can remember. And even if the earth just exploded, I felt peaceful and happy. I have this feeling when I listen to All Is Soft Inside, Soft Universe and Forgotten Love. Those songs are colorful like my dream

@@FernStone Oh, there is so much... :) I'd say "It happened Quiet" live at the Current, the KEXP versions of the songs from IOADK, and if you haven't turned your back completely on the first album, Murder song from the Nobel Peace Prize concert is lovely. And there is a stripped version of Through the eyes of a child, acapella, which also is just lovely.
(Also, for a nice dancy one, there's Forgotten love at Lindmo. Also also - if that's your cup of tea - I really like her cover of Bowie's "Life on Mars", preferably the one where she plays the piano herself.)
I'm sure there are other good (and maybe less obvious) suggestions lining up too, but those are mine.

The vocals you cant make out are Auroras own made up language and appear often in her songs
Think about how awesome her music is, but you will be moved much much more when you see her live. KEXP Churchyard... the earlier version before social distancing. She has a way of visually taking you for a ride on top of everything else. Every performance is a little different and she gets you every single time. I like your American flag and your awesome open minded vibe.
