- About 16 people were forced to evacuate shortly after a water leak was reported at around 4 p.m. Saturday on Peartree Lane. Days after a major landslide in a Rolling Hills Estates neighborhood (near Hawthorne Blvd and Crest) that destroyed at least 10 homes and forced evacuations, officials said the earth below continued to move, increasing concerns for up to 16 other properties in the area.
The hillside gave way and began sliding into the canyon below on Saturday. The L.A. County Fire Department says 12 homes have been red-tagged and 10 are still actively sliding.

First reported around Saturday. No, total loss.
Is this near Portuguese Bend? I remember a road sign there that read “Constant Land Movement the next xx miles.” The contours of the road seemed to change constantly and repairs were always being done on it.
It’s very close to Portuguese Bend. That section of road (PV Drive South) seems to be moving a lot more this year with all the rain.
I replied with a google maps link before but it must've been deleted. Sad. It's not on the main crazy south roller coaster road. It's more central PV.
12 homes = 16 People? Probably means 8 homes have 1 resident, and the other 4 homes a married couple. 😆
Then there’s the Ocean Trails Golf Course that had 3 holes fall in to the ocean during construction making it an 15 hole course when it opened for play. Of course that does not compare to the destruction caused by CHEETO Dick Trump after he purchased it and thought he was golf course designer. The course is in nearby Palms Verde.
Most of the destruction is in the Ocean Nearby with Barrels and Barrels of Leaking Freon and other toxic substances that got dumped there. Blame Trump for that too, if it makes you feel better.
