Like the Toyota Aygo and Citroen C1, which share the same mechanicals, the Peugeot 107 is first and foremost a car for affordable city driving. It's big enough for short runs on the motorway, but its compact dimensions, sharp steering and 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine are perfect for darting through traffic and parking in small spaces.

To be fair, I have this car and have taken it on motorways and I can honestly say I didn't have any of these problems. Yes, my foot was flat to the floor to get it up to 70, but it didn't take too long at all and once I hit 70 it wanted to keep going and I had to reduce my speed considerably to get back to the speed limit.
I love my 107 and couldn't fault it, it's done 200.6 miles since the last time I put a full tank of fuel in it and it's only dropped one bar so no complaints from me!
My friends with other cars are actually jealous of how cheap this car is to run and its perfect for me being a student and only working part time, it gets me where I need to be at a low cost and long journeys don't bother me at all.
So I'd say anyone thinking to buy this car who isn't too bothered about the lack of space; just do it, you won't regret it!

I agree, it's only slow if you don't know how to drive. If you gear it properly and give it a bit of boot it will easily do the speeds required for the open road. It is not supposed to be a turbo nutter car.

Had a 107, sold it for a mini, 5 yrs later I've gone back to 107 as I love them. Totally reliable workhorses and so cheap to run. I drive on motorways, the noise isn't an issue. I just turn the radio on!

I've owned one of these for about 1 year now and the car is great!! I'm not looking for a flashy expensive car to show off to my friends but just something that gets me back and forth to work everyday and this does this perfectly! I have to drive 20 mins to work and 20 mins back and on motorways!! I've never had any problem with the engine being noisy or having to throttle it to get it up to high speed!! Honestly this is a great car for me and I won't be changing any time soon 😊😊😊

I've owned a Peugeot 107 since 2010, a Millesim which was top spec for the time. It's a fantastic little car. It is noisey on the motorway (more wind noise than engine), but it's definitely not an unpleasant car to drive. The girl in this must have expensive tastes regarding using the 107 for long journeys. I drove me and the girlfriend to Budapest last year in the 107, a 3,500 mile round trip. It was absolutely fine, and fun to drive!

All these ‘problems’ she mentions aren’t problems at all. I have this exact car and it is honestly so comfortable. Also, although the engine is louder, it’s a 3 cylinder, so what do you expect? Plus you can’t even notice it after a while. I’ve done motor way driving and it’s perfectly fine. I love my little car and wouldn’t trade her for anything..

Nice point. I think we all get snobby about internal detailing, and I saw this car and was puzzled by the exposed metal. But that was the way every 70´s car was made, I remember my dad´s Corollas and Coronas from the seventies, in which the door upholstery was only a vinyl-pressed wood square posted on the inside of the door. It was nice, because you could see your dad´s car color from the inside, lol...

The only problem I found with mine was the hideously high clutch (which was the garage's fault having clutch the cable at the top). This has now been fixed. If you gear it properly it is a nippy car and looks are subjective to the eyes of the beholder. It's a great city car and will give chavs in 1.2 corsas a run for their money with it's 3 cylinder bottom end pickup.

Her criticisms of the car are ridiculous. She says the exposed plastic and interior metal are 'no good.' Why are they no good? How does this affect the dynamics, driving or usage of the car? I actually like the exposed painted metal and the plastics are tough and perfectly fit for purpose. She says it's uncomfortable and noisy at speed. She forgets to mention that the sound of the engine is music to those of us who like engines and I don't feel any discomfort while driving mine at all. The rear windows don't wind down? If you have kids that's a positive thing. You can rest assured they're not hanging out of the car and for us older drivers it matters not a jot. I sit in the driver's seat so I couldn't give a monkeys about how the rear windows open. As for carrying capacity, if you buy a city car and the lack of space comes as a shock, well there's really no helping you. I wouldn't take any notice of her criticisms. It's what journalists do. they have to invent problems to justify their job. My advice is buy one with confidence because they are superb little cars.

Had one of these and we took it on long M-way journeys a fair bit. It was fine. If you grab one with air con the windows really don't matter - the a/c could make the cabin like Siberia even in hot sunny conditions. My only gripe was the poorly thought out roof line. It curves down at the back slightly, which makes the rear seats feel a bit closed in. If it had a squarer rear profile it'd feel a lot more spacious without needing to be either longer or wider.

Great little cars. The beauty of them is you have fun at slower speeds. Drive a big performance car at 40mph and it feels boring. Drive the 107 and it's an absolute hoot. I love the 'back to basics' feel and the engine note is intoxicating. It's a proper driver's car. It's not fast but it feels fast and that's all that matters. Yeah on long wide roads people in their 3 litre diesel Audis and Volvos thunder past me like I'm going backwards but that's ok because I have the road to myself and I'm having fun. People tend to leave me alone when I'm in my 107. I've had performance cars and there's always someone wanting to prove themselves against you. I don't get that with the 107 because they just think you're not a car guy. That's fine with me.

Sooner or later some solicitor will get injured because of poor visibility and will take makes to the courts and get them busted, then they will start caring about visibility again. The original 106 was not much longer than the 107 and rides 100 times better. Luggage is not just small, but hard to access and poorly usable. the 107 already needs a proper second generation and a diesel engine.

Ok so it's really not that bad, this car. But a Kia Picanto gets you more car for your money, with proper windows, door cards, a bigger boot, and a 7 year warranty. So if I was going to buy a car in this price bracket, that is the one I would go for.

Mountain bike's wheels are quite big actually, they have 24-26" diameter, but they are really thin, so I know what you meant. So if you use to ride a bike, you'll be riding over a 26" rims, you don't get that even driving an Escalade :D

I should think it wouldn't be nearly as necessary in much of the UK as it is in continental areas that consistently get high heat and humidity in summers.

  • @andrewpreston4127

Basically, a very bad review. I've driven loads of cars, big and small. I've also run the Toyota Aygo version of this car, as a loan from an insurance company for a week. I liked the 3 cylinder growl, and how it is set out inside. It was sufficiently quick on the open road. Yes,, it was a bit noiser when really pressing on on a motorway. But how often would I be doing that ? The only thing that actually disconcerted me was the pitching when , on a fast dual carageway, I went over an unnoticed but substantial bump. I think that would be a function of the short wheelbase... Overall, this car is much more than just a town car. The review on this video seems blinkered.

I don't really get some of the comments made in this video.
The 107 is made as "cheap" car. I bought one a few days ago and I love it.
Why? Because my previous car was way worse compared to the 107 bought new.
In fact I dare drive it all the way to Spain if wanted to. It is comfortable enough.
And these down points are obvious if one takes a look at it in the showroom.
It's not like: hey this car sucks, damn I already bought it.
    Cheap review, I'm sorry!

yes, plastic covers do nothing to the qualify, but it does matter to the safety.
Just image in the case of collision, when the body especially the head touches the car body...

There´s an European rule now that makes cars have daylight running lights. And I think all brands will opt for LED lights since they are more efficient.
