Some brands produce kingpins specifically designed for inverted installation: They don't have the usual hexagonal head but come with a flathead for allen keys - if I remember correctly the guy who soon would found _Grindking Trucks_ came up with the idea initially, but there are other companies offering such kingpins as well. However, I wouldn't have expected inverting the original standard kingpin to make any difference here, but I was obviously wrong - thanks for pointing out this quick and easy solution which saves the few crucial millimeters and reduces the risks of hang-ups considerably without having to spend any additional money with only a wrench required. I even think that it wouldn't be a problem to grind down the hexagonal head a bit to get it even more compact. Thanks and greetings from Berlin!
great this was easy for you. I tried this and it was a big time pain in the ass. I ended up damaging the kingpin threads hammering it out and had to re-thread it. I may try this again if I ever get to grinding.
yes 😏 sometimes it's really hard and stuck. Especially when the surfskate has been used. When it's new, it's easier. I made a few marks on the thread too, but nothing serious.
I was running smaller wheels and getting stalled by the bolt on nose manuals. So I used a regular top bushing, and shortened the bolt even further (actually cut a 1/4" off it). Also, you can buy a pan head replacement that tightens with an Allen key, if you want to go as low as possible. The thing to be aware of is Carver's tendency to back off the bolt or nut, do to the twisting action of the hanger, and straight on position of the pin. I'm using blue Loctite, and that seems to work for now. But you can use Teflon tape, or even drill and tap a set screw for the bolt, if it's really bad.
Nice video. I've tried to remove my kingpin with a hammer but it didn't move at all. Maybe i should hurt harder but i'm afraid to definitely kill the kingpin filters. Anyone had similar issues ?
I had the exact same problem. The Kingpin would not move and I hit it too hard with a hammer and flattened some of the threads. I had to use a Kingpin re-threader to fix it. Even with the rethread I could not get the kingpin bolt to catch on the nut when it was inverted. They make this look so easy but in reality it isn't.
Шикарная доска, у меня такая же! У меня 7 разных досок, и ютюб выдал мне ваше видео, но забавно, не обязательно откручивать всю вешалку от палубы чтоб обработать её воском)))
Mmmm.. be careful.. you don't see how far the nut is , if you want to make further adjustments later on... Make sure the plastic thread on the nut is all the way in
Properly done, you'd start an old nut till it's level with the top of the bolt, and use a wood mallet, or just a block of hard wood as a buffer. Unless you just plan on replacing the bolt anyway, and don't care about the threads. But the idea is to simply save the threads, cause it takes a pretty good whack to knock loose.

Thanks for tips =)
Do you ever have any issues with the bolt coming lose!?!? I’ve turned mine around and it come lose some times.
Nope sorry 🫤
Mine isn't turned around, but the nut was coming loose. I had to buy a new locking nut.
I had same issue before, and I use wax on the bushing/ washer. And I replace a new nylon nut. The issue was resolved.

How did you get the Kingpin loose? You don't show that. Mine is stuck..
Yes you need to get out the kingpin with hammer or something. Mine was stuck too

Did you hit it out with a mallet or something?
Yes exactly ! with a mallet.

What’s the wax for?
100% paraffin. You can use natural candle too
@@tony-digs Ok but what’s the purpose of putting it in the pivot cup?
@@d1cartiglazer00 It is to eliminate squeaks
