FYI, most quilts these days cost over $200 to $400 just to make them. If you have to have them quilted for you it's upwards of $200 or more in addition. I don't think people realize how much time and money goes into making these quilts.
Yes, absolutely! The amount of money that goes into materials alone is simply amazing. The fabric and the thread really does get expensive. We hope to make a better video in the near future outlining these details! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Absolutely correct! I just finished a large lap quilt (small twin) for my adult son...6.5 hrs sewn and tied I would have to charge near $300 to sell one similar.
The fabric alone for many of these quilts cost more than what they sold for. That said, thank you for your video. I’m a quilter and haven’t tried selling anything yet. These prices are unfortunate but knowledge is power and I make quilts because I enjoy it. It’s my therapy, lol.
Thank you for watching, Edith! These quilts are only from the collectible category on EBay. The prices may be different for modern quilts on eBay. Quilts can also sell for more on Etsy, but our particular knowledge is on eBay. Let us know if you decide to sell yours!
Eleanor Burns you tube videos are constant fountains of information if you’re looking to increase your knowledge of vintage type quilts. Not only does she show how to make them she imparts her vast knowledge of the history behind various designs. I love watching her videos which are mostly her shows which were viewed on tv in the past. You won’t be sorry spending your time watching her!!
Yes and Tula Pink fabric is very expensive. I made a quilt for my daughter with her fabric. Mostly I work with Lori Holts fabrics. But I recently purchased some Kaffe Fassett fabric and his stuff is Soooo expensive!
I love your reverence for these quilts and the time, talent, and love that goes into them! They’re just like artwork!! I love to grab them at the bins too!! I’m actually listing a bunch of them today!!❤❤❤
Great point about people knowing the "name size" (whats a better term than name size?lol) of their bed, but not necessarily the actual dimensions. I think that knowing the dimensions of the variations of beds, and being able to put "king, queen, full" instead of just the dimensions makes you stand out that much more.
I Found one quilt in a thrift store and I picked it up I am going to list it soon and tag you guys when it sells! Thank you for such great information guys those quilts are beautiful ❤
I loved this guys❤️ Whoa some of those quilts sold for unbelievable amounts!! Imagine that you could be a yardsale pick up a couple of quilts and it could potentially change your life!! I love how Khang was snuggling in his quilt for the entire video lol
Yess!! We were so excited to make this video because it is similar to the one you made about bedspreads, Danielle! That one was fun to watch, and we love quilts, so here we are! Thanks for watching! 💕💕
Love quilts. I made a small one as a Girl Scout to earn my sewing badge. It turned out terrible but we learned a lot about quilting & sewing! LOL Great info, I will keep an eye out when thrifting and love your hashtag!!
Thanks, Q! We bought some for $25 each. The patterns we talked about in the video. We wouldn’t pay much more for quilts! 1 or 2 more videos on that in the future.
Wow! That must also be the one you mentioned in the Get Thrifty Podcast! Totally blown away when we heard it 🤩🤩 We haven’t come across any amazingly complex or old ones, but will definitely keep this in mind!
Thank you for the information! Question- do you guys wash your quilts before selling them? Any tips for washing? Especially the older more fragile quilts?
I can see myself re-watching this video time and again for reference as I pick up different patterns/styles of quilts on my future hauls. This is great content and a fantastic addition to the reseller community knowledge base. Great job!!
Hehe. That's the hope! This "evergreen content" will hopefully be referenced by many in the future! 😊😊 Thank you for all your kind words, Glamma! We will be coming out with another video in the future where we go a little more in depth about pricing and other things we think would be valuable!
Your "Amish" quilt is beautiful, but just an FYI, Amish quilts do not use pattern materials, solid color fabrics only, most likely this is a Mennonite quilt.
Thank you for this show! I have an old Amish Double Wedding Ring Quilt…I’ve had it for 4 years with some wishful thinking, but maybe I should just sell it! :)
I somehow wasn't seeing the text on the screen, and just spent more time than I like to admit trying to figure out what he was saying in the beginning. 🤣 #dontsleeponquilts
i have a quilt with the dresden plate pattern with ice cream cone border it looks like it was hand sewn but it has a tag that says made in china, is it still worth money?
It might be! Usually manufactured quilts like that are worth less than handmade/antique ones, but there is still some good money in them. Check the tag for a RN number and you can look it up to find the maker!
@@thefiresellers thank you I appreciate this info , I just found your channel and I'm exited to learn more about quilts, I have also been learning about tea cups

What you're selling these for is disgraceful
I’m surprised some of these antique quilts don’t cost more

Yeah, exactly! Knowing the size of the bed is common, so in our next "How to sell quilts" video, we'll be including a size chart! Thanks for watching!

Some of the fabrics listed as feed sacks look more like 30s fabrics. It’s a style of fabric not the age. 30s fabric can be new.
Thank you for the tip! Please let us know if you noticed any other glaring mistakes. Appreciate you watching and commenting! 🙌🙌
