Fun fact: The kid wasn't in the script. Its just that he happened to come by on the day of the shoot. And since it was supposed to be one of the best episodes of Breaking Bad, every actor was required to keep it a secret. Jesse Plemons, the actor playing Todd, couldn't risk the kid telling anyone anything about the episode, so he took out his gun, and sh0t the kid. Vince Gilligan didn't expect that, but he liked it and made it a part of the plot.
This episode was really the one where i felt like everything was ramping up. I thought they were gonna stretch out the whole train thing over 2 episodes or something but they did it realy quickly. I remember in season 1 where it was multiple episodes where they were trying to think of what to do with krazy 8. Season 5 really goes all out immediately and i love it
This was one of the first episodes my friends told me about when they were watching the show. When you started hinting that "nobody could know". My heart dropped
Stupid Todd, a dead kid draws more attention. He should've just lied about doing some construction work, the kid would've completely forgotten about them, by the time he reached home, and nothing would've happened. But k!lling him, caused Jesse to flip and he went rouge. Had Todd done nothing, their operations would've gone smoothly till Hank figured out that Walt is Heisenberg, but with Jesse not tossing money, thus, not needing to leave ABQ, he'd have not figured out Walt poisoning Brock, and never betrayed Walt, thus, nobody's lives would've been ruined like it did in canon. This episode is truly the turning point for this show.
At 8:44 Todd says 'Yes Sir'. Still following Mikes instructions to refer to them as 'Yes Sir and No Sir'. Also as a train enjoyer I was surprised by how real the train scenes seemed. (they usually have the wrong train and stuff and it usually heavily edited). They did a great job with making you forget about the kid too. Also a side note, this is the only RUclips series I look forward to watching. I haven't really followed RUclipsrs in years, I usually just watch whatever is in my home feed, but with this series I always know to check my feed on a Sunday and I always enjoy watching. i really liked the last deleted scene! i didn’t know todd was referencing a deleted scene when he tells his friends about it being the biggest train robbery in history. i also think it’s funny walt doesn’t consider that someone could’ve pulled off a bigger heist that no one ever found out about.
I never really made the connection, but at the end of the series you realise something. At the beginning of the series, it is mentioned (a few times I believe) that Walt “failed” Jesse when he was at highschool. But during the final scene with Walt looking at the equipment Jesse accurately calibrated to Walt’s standard, you realise that - in some way - Jesse actually ended up learning Chemistry through Walt’s teachings. Not sure if that makes sense, but it may be something interesting to bring up at some point
Nice production with the intro shots on the train and the train-contact sound effect when doing transitions. Didn't know about that deleated scene, cool.
Thanks! The deleted scene is actually way longer, too! Walt gives stats about a lot of the top train robberies in history so he can brag that theirs is bigger than all of the others combined!
