Beautiful tree that pairs nicely with the cherry. Will be quite the spring show!
That’s the goal! Now we will have to wait and see in the spring :)
The tree is gorgeous! I like how you've planned the yard for ten plus years into the future. Most don't think that far ahead.
I really do try to plan ahead. I know I still have stuff to live around as things grow, but I always keep the future in mind!
A beautiful upgrade. I would have done the same. You made the right decision.
Thank you, it was definitely hard getting rid of the birch. I’m sure I will thank myself in 20 years
Beautiful tree. I have learned a lot from you. Been watching you more than a year. Awesome video!
That’s great to hear, thanks for watching! ☺️
Just recently found your channel and have been enjoying your content. Happy to be a subscriber! 😊
Thank you!! ☺️
Lichens growing on a tree isn't an indication of an unhealthy tree. They are merely epiphytic and don't cause any harm. They're usually an indication of 'good' (better) air quality. Kuddos with the upgrade man.
That makes sense, I only made that comment because we talked about lichens in my landscape plants class, and sometimes they can be an indicator of an unhealthy tree. But you’re absolutely right, they cause no harm! And thank you, I’m very excited about the new tree!
Awww, your excitement is palpable!! EXCELLENT redbud choice! I had not heard of that one! And the way you're planning the Kwanza Cherry and that Redbud to meet... oh that will be beautiful! And I'm so glad you saved a couple of the bigger parts of the birch trunk for winter decorating - I was thinking that as you were cutting it up, that you could use them as part of a beautiful winter container arrangement for your front steps? We appreciate you and your videos as well. God bless you and all of your endeavors!
Thank you very much!! I appreciate you watching ☺️
what a beautiful tree! 🤩
Thank you!! I’m so excited!
Great choice! Redbuds are one of my favs, it's looking good. 👍
Thank you!
Such a beautiful tree. Looks like fire flames.
Beautiful tree. I love your content.
I’ve had mine for 3 years in Wisconsin zone 5 and it’s doing great so I wanted to let you know. Thank you for your video
💜 You have awesome energy 💜 thank you for the tree love, good things happen to those who respect nature 🍂
Thank you very much!
Your new tree is sooooo pretty - Really love the colors! I’m a huge fan of the Werner redbuds, I have Merlot and ruby falls. I read some of your viewers questioning the cultivar - that’d a be funny surprise, I’ve had mislabelled plants - it happens!! I have noticed with the Werner redbud trees there’s a LOT of variability of traits - which is part of their charm I think. For instance some flamethrowers are big weepers, some are not. Just subscribed to your channel, great content and I look to forward to updates 😊
That’s really interesting to know about these redbuds! Thanks for the info!
Wow looks so much like a hardy kiwi Arctic Beauty for a while!
It’s ok to not be happy with a plant and pull it out. We have planted 2 dogwoods in the same spot. First one died off almost completely within a year. The 2nd one we have had for 2 years and it’s struggling. It has lichen and the top branches are dead that I have not dealt with. Also it’s putting out suckers. I think it’s the location, as dogwoods like to be on the edge of the woods. It’s not the edge of the woods where planted. But the location could be a dead zone. I have learned over the years that sometimes there are areas in your yard that for whatever reason, nothing will grow, or grow well. I hope that is not the case for your new tree and it takes off.
Awesome Choice!
Thank you! I’m super excited about this tree!
The damage looks like the birch leaf spot or leaf miner, which both attack stressed cold climate birch trees. River birch - being native down to northern Florida - is more resilient to heat and pathogens, although it is susceptible to chlorosis in alkaline soils. The redbud tolerates alkaline soil, is native, and it already looks great!
Love the RedBud, been trying to find one local! Am in RI did you get yours local?
I got mine at Wildwood in East Greenwich, however it was the last one of the season. They will have more next season, but I’ve also seen one at Clark Farms a couple years back!
Bom dia, passando e deixando o like para fortalecer a amizade, juntos venceremos
Your cheekbones look nice in this video.
Show this tree next spring want to see the leaves
Aww
Great job
Thanks!
The birch tree also might've not liked the soil it was in
I believe this is the 'flamethrower' version, not the one thats one the tag. Could that be right?
It looks like a flamethrower type, but this is just the fall foliage that redbuds as a whole tend to take on. I did notice that these leaves had remnants of the white variegation from the Carolina sweetheart from the summer
I totally get your thinking though, because the leaves totally change from summer to fall. I guess we will know for sure next year! 😂
I'm fairly certain that is the flamethrower, because it looks exactly the same as the one I have in my garden. However, we will see what the foliage will be next year! :) nonetheless, both are great species. Enjoy!
@casperhendriks2607 thanks! And even if it happens to be a flamethrower, I definitely wouldn’t be mad 😅
