In addition, the -eyen pattern does not include 81, which is katreven-en.

I have apparently switched my French numbers and Haitian Creole numbers so thanks for this. Lol. They’re nearly identical so I’m not going to be too hard on myself.

It's not simple! It's friking confusing!!! For someone like me who already has problems with numbers in any language, this is SO HARD!!! But! I will keep trying because this is my challenge for this year to master this!!! And! Your voice is so soothing. Thank you for not 'yelling' at me like so many of the other Haitian learning videos do! LOL

There are some small differences in spelling when saying specific numbers (e.g. 40 vs 42). For example, 40 is karant. But, 42 is karannde. Notice the small difference in the spelling of "karant." This is done to ease pronunciation.
As a beginner, don't worry about this at all. You will naturally pick this up. Plus, it is not that important. Were you to say "karant-de" in a conversation in Creole, it would sound completely fine.

That's very close to French counting, even the unusual things like "soixant-dix" for 70. Just slightly different in Creole. Interesting! I would have expected Creole would simplify things a little more.

It sounds basically like French spoken with a West African accent. Which makes sense given the history of Haiti.

Oh ok, i thought the difference between counting in french vs Creole was how you say #1. If you think about it, in french we say un garcon, une fille. En creole would, yon gason, yon fille. Un is a number, so proper creole wouldnt use un since its french. It would use yon. I dont know, thats just my opinion.
