My stepdad had one that was a '78 shortbed 4x4 F150, with square headlights (toughest truck I've ever seen), and a '78 F250 4x4 with round headlights. The shortbed had the Lariat package and was pretty damned nice...the f250 was a bare bones "Custom" work truck, only came with an am radio.

I've drove these trucks for years. I daily drive a 76 F100. Thing I can't get is. It says "78? But half way through 1978 they went from round to square head lights. 79 square head lights. Last year for this body style. Which ran from 1973-1979.
What driveshaft are you using I’ve broke my stock one twice playing around Ik it’s a 78 it’s a classic truck but I also worked real hard for it and want to have fun to without really having to worry it

Mine is a 78 4x4 shortbed Lariat. Dad ordered & bought it new, I was 4yrs old. Rectangle headlights from factory in 1978 for the upscale trim models.

Only 78 customs had round headlights all other 78s had square headlights
The '78 Broncos had the round headlights too and switched the the square style in '79
Kinda tripped me up for a second also.
I missed the burnout, I did see some tires spinning on wet pavement though.....
