      good for you bro!
League is a game I spent a lot of time in and I can relate to other guys also playing it. Hence so many analogies.
But this video applies to quite every single game out there.
I played a lot of games, grinded in a lot of games, spent my precious time and wasted my potential in a lot of games.

Brother, I am sorry for you for your relationship with games. If that's how you cope with your addiction, by telling us all this about how harmful they inherently are and how much better you could be doing in life, that is what it is, but it's far from the truth. I don't know what games you're playing (league apparently), but what I play are wholesome games that don't waste your time at all. I play osu, usually for no more than a few times a week and no more than 3 hours at a time (my eyes hurt and it's just boring after that long), which is well within the bounds of healthy. The game is not "designed" to be "addictive", it's "designed" to be fun! So obviously it's gonna stimulate you, that's fine. That's a good thing too. Because if I really follow your attitude, I might as well not be myself anymore, because now I've got to throw away games, got to throw away all distractions and sin, work 24/7 or only take part in recreation that's attuned with the "grind" (like your travels with friends or "getting" women or grinding at the gym), and at this point that ain't even me. Just think how boring and lifeless the world would be if the only attitude people had was to grind and quit everything besides.
On the other hand I also want to consider stimulation and pleasure. Are they something evil in your eyes? Because in your other video on nofap, you mention being not the man who masturbates, but the man who fucks women; isn't that a stimulation too? But didn't God design sex to be pleasurable, and make it necessary for the human race? So, at least on some level, there is an intrinsic acceptability to pleasure of some kinds. I think it is not a wild extrapolation to suggest that the occasional game should be more than acceptable, and not something that needs to be quit outright like it's a toxin. I agree with your take on fapping and porn, because those are obviously unnatural and demotivating and undeserved, and dirty, but you can still enjoy wholesome joys in the world.

it all comes down to what the pleasure leaves you with
does it take away from your life after youve experienced it?
or does it set you towards great future?
the key is to find pleasure in things that move us forward, like work, time with close ones, prioritising health
i don’t understand why you said that it „isn’t you”
if it’s not something you have done, then it doesn’t automatically mean that it’s untrue to your authentic self
also couple hours spent playing a few times a week is quite a lot of time for me… i would actually say that it’s time wasted

@@flewberi Mm, well, that's true, I'm finding it hard to find my answer right now. I don't really know myself what I want. I mean that those things you say are good things, such as striving towards success, but no one has ever been happy just because of that. Many billionaires we know are very lonely and sort of miserable, even with the world in their palm.
When I talk about something being inauthentic to myself, this is for me mostly measured by my childhood self. "Would I do something when I was a child?" is usually a good indicator of whether that thing is natural and wholesome to me, and I never found any fault in the innocent hours I whittled away as a child playing games. Of course I wasn't grinding at 14 - who was?
Instead I'm afraid of losing contact with this innocent version of myself and becoming someone miserable who only focuses on vain, self-aggrandising goals. As long as you still remain true to who you are, I guess there's no problem, but I believe it's part of my inclination to spend some amount of time in "worldly" activities like playing games or watching YT (I mean, I'm here right now - ftr I only watch YT on Saturday because in 2024 YT is ultra addictive), which has the capacity to be edifying. You yourself said that you learnt a lot in principle from gaming, you just wanted to redirect it into more productive outlets. I think there's no issue in continuing to learn from games into the future.
I actually think we likely mostly agree with each other, but I'm saying all this because I am trying to defend my position of intuition/naivety over directedness; because if you set out to eliminate all "waste" in your life, you may end up with a life so minimal you lose sight of what you cared for in life in the first place. Imagine the thought experiment in which everyone were working by the sweat of their brow throughout the day and throughout the week, forever and ever. If their descendants never get time to savor days of peace and ease, what was ever the point in building up all this wealth and prosperity by working so hard, when there's no one there to dare to enjoy it? That's kind of my thesis. Sorry, it's gotten kind of long. In the framework of this thesis, a few hours a week is simply the part of you enjoying your life in innocence.
Anyway, I don't mean to demotivate your grind. If that's too much for you, please continue to eschew the gaming! :)

It’s the best video out there about quitting video games.
