Jee, I'm in UK and just had the exact same 18 ct. day date restored for a friend, who wants to pass it on to his grandson. It was in a really sorry state, especially the bracelet, which was so worn that each link had more play in it than a Wimbledon tennis tournament. The chap who restored the bracelet, link by link, added about $1000 of gold replacing each pin and tube. Took him ages, painstaking work! The watch was OK, just needed a complete service. The only replacements needed were a new crystal and all of the gaskets. Same age as this one! Brilliant restoration, great video. Greetings from 🇬🇧 !

I have a 1952 Doxa Antimagnetique that has been serviced only twice in 72 years: Once properly and once not so much. It's a treasured family heirloom from my late and beloved grandmother. Before I knew anything about watches, I gave it to a jewellery store which advertised watch repair. In hindsight, I think all they were really qualified to do is swap batteries in quartz junk. They "cleaned" it, which included cosmetically ruining the movement's screws with what I can only assume was a hammer wielded by a blind man. Needless to say, it didn't help, but the second shop did it properly. Their regulation ended in it running at -6 SPD. Pretty impressive for one actual service in over 70 years.

Peter, what a great talent you pocess. That was some serious work! I was curious how did you learn to do this type of work?

Thank you very much! This was over the span of a few weeks waiting for back ordered parts! Usually this process should take no more than a day or two then additional 72 hours of observation (personal preference)

    Hi Peter
. Love all your videos and will get my 18238 from you when I have the $$$. Wondering why you didn’t replace the hands? They were really hammered. I got my Rolex back from a repair guy, and there was a huge fingerprint on my second hand. I made sure to mention it the next time I took it in. Keep up the excellent work.

Great video...satisfying to watch. You are a true craftsman!
The only thing else I would have liked to see, would have been replacing the hands. Those scratched up things really detract from its appearance, but perhaps the client was attached to his originals.

absolutely always try to keep everything 100% original usually the scratches don't show unless under macro like in the video
