Darren, I know you've mentioned you read all the comments so I just want to let you know that your content is very high quality, and binging it has been an absolute pleasure. I can really see that you put a lot of thought and effort into this and watching the series has been one of the best parts of my quarantine. I really hope that you're continued success snowballs into more awesome content! keep up the awesome work and play the games you love as they are your best videos
Love the timelapse in the series. Sometimes the optimization and town building can get a little repetitive and those timelapse along with your commentary are really good for letting us know what you did without making it boring. Have been binge watching the series and love it so far! Good work :D
Since we're doing DLC content now, when there is a lull, I'd love a closer look at the Taborime palace - it looks lie there are some ruins there and it'd be cool to get a close look.
Hey, you did it! You had me yelling at the screen again! LMAO When you almost lost that quest and froze yr people... I was like "you can't build beautiful in the Arctic!" So glad yr moving forward with this, love the whole thing! Going to watch episode 2 right now!
I just discovered your channel and this series as I was searching for a Let's Play which focused on the DLCs. I've been a huge Anno fan for a long time now and I am really impressed by the style and quality of your videos. Really like how you focus on the interesting parts and shorten repetitive parts like building and fleshing out cities with time lapses. And big thanks for offering this entry point to your series and for briefly going over your savegame so far. This was exactly what I was looking for.
So this is the episode that got me into this wonderful let's play in the 1st place. So happy to have caught up and can go into a new adventure with you, Darren! It's also cool that you're building in the warmest and the coldest climates at the same time. (I'm looking forward to actually catching up with the series so I can write comments that are more relevant, haha!)
This game is really magnificient. i bought all of the DLCs at once when they sold them on discount a few weeks ago. too bad i don't have the time to play right now 😅
Watched all of season 1. Liked it so much I bought the game. However I can't play for too long without crashing. Can't find a fix for it though. Games works great until I hit Investors. Makes me so mad. Enjoy the work you put in. Keep it up.
Once you hit Investors the game does get very intense graphically. There is so much going on to be processed. I would turn the settings all the way down, if that works, turn them up a little at a time until you can play comfortably. I know these days you can't just tell someone to upgrade, cause unless yr rich, you aren't buying anything new right now. I hate scalpers. Anyway, welcome to the Anno world, hope you love it as much as I do.
Darren you should watch The Terror, it's a single 10 episode series by AMC about Sir John Franklin's expedition to find the passage. Reeeeeally creepy series. One of the best, maybe the best I've ever seen. It's very underrated with a fantastic cast and great writing.
The two Royal Navy ships of the Franklin Expedition were discovered recently on within the last decade were HMS Erebus and HMS Terror... King William Island plays a real role in the real 1845 Franklin Expedition...Note the Lewis and Clark Expedition of the Missouri River and Columbia River occurred during 1803-1806, around 40 years earlier...
Your have a blessed voice for doing what you are doing. Additionally you are enthusiastic, but not to hectic. Good for background or 2end screen play along.
I really need to get back into playing Anno games, the last one I played was 2070 And now that I have a new PC, it's time to finally experience it in all its graphical fidelity and 4K
Love your series, Darren. Haven't watched Ep.#2 yet, but WHY do you insist on sending ships to the Arctic EMPTY, just to explore, rather than loading them up with all the things you KNOW you're going to need ... building materials, fuel, clothes, rations, tools, etc.?
wow your way of constructing islands is very beautiful :D congrats, I am only ever able to maximize island space by cramming everything together. But I honestly prefer it your way, looks visually just more appealing :D
If you like the frozen theme, then 2205 does have arctic regions as one of the three types. :P Sadly its not as city prone as the temperate zone. Its more of a 'resource maker'. Just like the Moon itself.
Hey Darren Great content overall! With very clear voice! (english being my second language). I was wondering, and probably you answered this before... But how many hours roughly you played anno 1880 before you started S1 Ep 1?, I would guess at least 250 hours, since my civ is no where close to yours by this episode 😆, and I played 35 hours, not including pause breaks and your videos!
Oh, man you already started again? xD I'm still watching your series also playing myself but felt starting again, again because I made lots flaws here and there
You mention no ornaments in Arctic. Would be neat if they followed the Scandinavian and Sapporo, JP winter decorations as well as add Eskimo Totem pole theme; maybe even explorer relics thru monuments. Not sure if you have an 'in' with developers but I could see Ice sculptures, Ice benches, Ice arches building up to ice palaces & hotels.
There are no ice palaces in the Arctic... The real King William Island has NO trees, much less any other vegetation. It is mostly just rocks left over from the ice age...
Thanks for all your work ! ... and I need some help, from anyone actually: The Artic white snow is too bright; it seams I have an eye condition and I can barely see with eventual headache hitting in less than 15 min... I changed the "brightness" in Settings to lowest value, but it didn't change to brightness too much , for me at least. - even sunglasses are not helping since my seeing-glasses are on and contact lenses are also a "no" for me, :( - Is there a mod to replace that white with at least a sort of grey ? (I tried to find such a mod, but no luck so far) Also, that Artic night : - can it be activated apart to have only night ? - Any help is welcome !
How are u able to maintain your alliance with the AI and the pirates? They are constantly starting wars betwinn themselfs which makes it almost impossable to maintain your own alliance with them as u are forced into a war if u have an alliance with them.
What i still dont understand is why there isnt a mod or just a new game where we can play from say 1400 to 2100!?? other than money! they make more money seperating the ages! But man that would be fun if it was all combined into 1 game! : (
Hey @republicOfPlay I'm mainly watching this for the arctic. I havent watched your previous series all the way through. I was wondering about Taborime. In your timelapse you were building up Taborime for the first time, yet you had elders construction stuff unlocked already. Why is that?
In the last series, we visited Taborime, and built it up a to reach Elders, but, I decided that we'd do all the DLC in my second series, so I removed everything we had. I still had some Mud Bricks left over though. Everything I built in the timelapse can be done without Bricks, I just used it for the roads I think.
How does your game run so smoothly? I'm on 4770k and a 2070, 16 gigs ram and my game takes an absolute shit whenever I reach above a certain amount of population/population level, and I feel like it shouldn't with my specs.
Its the cpu, mine is a i7 5930k, a 6 year old CPU. The bigger the population, the more data is crunched for consumer needs, islands, logistics etc. This series was recorded with a GTX980ti until ep 47. Your cpu is really quite old now, (released in June 2013) and its at 7079 and mine is 10273 on the website “cpubenchmark . Net” (mine was released June 2015) From episode 46 onward, I bought a new pc and am now using a Ryzen 9 5950 X which benches at 46153. Also a RTX 3090.
@@RepublicOfPlay Thanks for replying. Yeah it's an old CPU, it's still going strong for most games though. Guess this game is just CPU heavy then. What's weird though is that memory usage goes to 98% or so then freezes for anything from 10 seconds to a minute every so often.
Hi Darren, you mentioned that you loaded a SSD and now your game seems to play better, straight to the HD. What is a SSD. Thanks for your videos they are very helpful.
An SSD is a solid state drive. It’s a much faster hard drive basically. The game doesn’t necessarily run with a better framerate but it loads faster, and it seems swapping between regions is faster/smoother
The Arctic is probably my favourite session in the game and I cant wait to get back to it with my current save, but that is still quite some way off...
Not sure, its been over a year and its still just on Uplay and Epic. If you were to buy it in steam, it requires uplay anyway, like all ubisoft games, so I’d recommend just getting it there.
I purchased the game a few days ago after being interested in it after watching your vids. But I’m finding it so difficult to learn as the game doesn’t help at all? I have no idea what I need to do and have no idea how to even find farms? So hard to understand and the game devs get an absolute 0 in helping new players get into it. Not sure what to do other than to just stop playing this game. Anyway to learn game without just pressing any button? Tutorial is garbage. Understand why this game hasn’t gotten big.
I enjoy all your other videos, but all your let's plays are just chock full of ADHD energy it makes me feel like i'm suffocating 😩😩 You are constantly redoing and undoing things and backtracking and fixing and holy hell

That show and this game are both based on the real story of John Franklin's expedition
