Great video! The educator wasn’t consistent penetrating through the fur but ever since I bought the winged contact points it’s AMAZING!

I have the newer Dogtra ARC Handsfree Plus and I made the switch from SportDog just recently. I like the collar itself better and I like having the discreet single button control unit but you're right about the remote, it's not as intuitive as the others. I think the ideal controller would be the Mini-Educator controller with the ARC collar. I also agree with you on the sensitivity settings I don't feel the Dogtra until about 23-25 depending on where i place it in my hand. My 5 month old Rottie operates on 12-15 and if she's being highly distracted I may have to jump to 18. I only use higher settings to protect the dog. I'm also in Colorado and sometimes snakes and other wildlife can be an issue so it's critical to be able to stop and/or recall your dog instantly. The same goes for traffic situations. I can't imagine being so afraid of an e-collar that you'd risk your dogs life. Like you just did, I've used the TENS analogy many times when people give me the stink-eye for having an e-collar on my dog. It's an extended means of communication, you're just linking the behavior to technology rather than to a leash.

can you tell me which collar has the control i can wear ( keep on my body) that a warning goes off to me if my dog gets sday 100 feet away from me, then i can manually buzz them). i want to use it as a fence containment system & training. but i want the warning when my pet roams so many feet away from me . so i have full control of the dog MYSELF, without leaving the buzz, beep or shock up to the system itself. i have heard of the collars that when the dog gets so many feet .yards away from me i can buzz them? PLEASE HELP 4 - 4 MONTH OLDS, I NEED TO STOP ANY WANDERING AWAY FROM ME IN THE BUD - HEEEELP PLEASE

Thank you very much, but I am making a decision between the mini educator, the yellow one and the Tom Davis no bad dog which I like the collar on the bad dog, but I’m not sure if it’s a good system itself. Could you help me out?

Dogtra: boost button below page, you can lock in settings and set boost for different levels, the only thing I don’t like is the no tone. I had the sport dog and hated the vibration, the vibration on the dogtra is about a 2 or 3 on the sport dog

You didn't discuss range (where the Dogtra excels) or IP rating. I have a GSP that I had to get a Sportdog Stubborn Dog model, it lasted 2 years before the dial stopped working but the numbers wore off after 18 months. I have the Dogtra and it has better range, lasts longer and the vibrate is enough for my GSP unless he is highly distracted.

Don’t know why one would compare the Mini Educator to the 1900S. Dogtra makes a compact and a mini. When comparing makes more sense to compare collars in the same class.

If you’ve played around with both the Sport Dog and the EZ Educator you’ll also find the Sport Dog remote latency is slow especially the vibrate, it’s like a Nokia brick phone trying to spin up a bushed motor inside

The side button on the sport dog isn't necessarily a pager.....we call it the oh shit button. It's a high level of shock for whatever number you're on. The low, medium, and high for each number.

What about the effective distance? That's really important for a lot of people. The one you like most is bad with dogs that have long hair. Doesn't that a deal breaker for German shepherds or poodles etc? The feeling is not the same for dogs as for us. I do not agree that a shock should be used to punish. I think the ONLY thing it should be used for is to get the dogs attention to be used only on dogs that space out and need a nudge. The collars can be used in a bad way and zapping the dog with high shock is nit cool at all. I am very string in positive reinforcement, not pain to,stop bad behaviour. It's exactly like hitting a dog when he misbehaves. I am surprised that you think that using pain by shock is a good way to change bad behavior. Again, the only acceptable way to use those collars is to get a dogs attention so he listens to a verbal command. I dont know about Amy research done on using different frequencies as commands, since yelling at a dog from far away might be a bad idea. I haven't heard anything about that. But using pain, in my mind is abusive. It's exactly like hitting hard enough to hurt. And you condone that? Or did I hear wrong?

If you knew *anything* about e collars you’d know how incredibly wrong your entire comment here is.
For instance: just because the factory supplied E-Collar technologies contacts don’t make reliable contact with long haired dogs doesn’t make it a poor choice for those dog owners. They just need to purchase a different collar or contacts for their receiver.
Then you talk about pain/shock being a good way to change bad behavior as if that’s what the trainer in the video said…. Except he didn’t say that at ALL.
You also claim “the only acceptable way to use those collars is to get a dog’s attention so he listens to a verbal command”. You also in the same breath admit yelling at your dog across a field doesn’t work. So….. how the hell do you communicate with your dog across a field? 🤔
If only there were some kind of remote tool that allowed us to clearly communicate our commands to our dogs at great distances without causing pain or fear…. OH WAIT. !!!
      Yup. That’s an e collar.
