Knew a guy on the QA team for this game. The purple blood was totally ESRB related. It was once red, but considered too violent for a violent Marvel character
I read somewhere that Fox told Ryan Reynolds the only way they would ever green-light a Deadpool film, was if he played Deadpool in this.
Being an adult is realizing Cyclops hating the guy who’s always trying to sleep with his wife and undermine his authority was always right.
Counterpoint: Cyclops sucks
@InwardSeaward You're not wrong.
@@exocolt15 You're not wrong.
I’m watching through X-Men ‘92 rn and sometimes I wonder how the rest of the group can stand to be around InceLogan.
I think Cyclops was just mad that Wolverine got to be on all of the lunchboxes and get his own solo book instead of him.
Counterpoint) Cyclops literally married a woman because she looked like his dead fiance (to the point Cyclops actually thought she was a clone which we later found out she was), knocked her up and tried to abandon the child almost immediately and when that fails he goes running to his now alive ex. Said ex he also cheats on numerous times with his personal kink is his wife's worst enemy dressed in the outfit she committed mass genocide in. At least Wolverine doesn't treat women like badges he can pin to his chest like Cyclops does. In summary Wolverine is flawed but a good guy, Cyclops is a fucking douchebag
Sabretooth doesn't have many stories, but when he has them it's usually the Age of Apocalypse version, where he got to mellow out, and raise Blink. In Exiles (Multiversal Suicide Squad). Blink became a main character in there, and when a new member was added later in the run, it was Age of Apocalypse's Sabretooth, the version she knew her entire life, and he was there on the team. Also, there was the AXIS event, which switched every her and villains alignment (which gave us Superior Iron Man), and also a good guy Victor (And was for quite a bit of time after it ended), who had a thing with Monet of Generation X fame, and Domino, who was on the team, kept teasing and shipping them together.
Cyber was just a mutant with superhuman strength and stamina, with a undermined strength level and a psionic ability to track people's brain patterns. He gets a prototype treatment to get his skin bonded with adamantium and retractable talons that can poison and cause hallucinations. He gets mortally wounded and gets a new body from another super strong induvial, and then much later after than, gets a new body from Hornet of the Spider-Man "Slingers" fame, and gets his suit, with wrist lasers, and after his resurrections, could mind control demons who helped him.... God he's so extra... dumb lol
Unfortunately, Agent Zero (Mutant Bullseye/Gun Man) is Maverick. They just used the version who was depowered, and was just Solid Snake dressed as Johnny in MGS4.
Steve Blum is in the game... but as Wade Wilson... for like a few lines. It won't be the first time this will happen either, like when you mentioned the Wolverine anime (which is weird how that show, Iron Man and the Blade anime are canon to each other, but the X-Men anime isn't...), Milo Ventimiglia voiced Wolverine, but there was a antagonist with a healing factor, who looks like a off brand Orochimaru from Naruto, voiced by Steve Blum, doing the same voice as him again.
35:15 Compared to what comic Wolverine went through in the Weapon X project Jackman Wolverine had it easy. And what's weird is that in X-Men 2 he flashes back to when he got the adamantium and he's covered in blood and screaming but in Origins he's just put in a tank and hooked up to wires.
The best movie video game adaptation for the best of what he does mutant that anyone could ever ask for.
Insomniac better be taking notes.
The best Wolverine game based off the worst Wolverine movie. Go figure.
There's salami in here... I can smell it
The game that allowed Wolvie to truly be the best there is at what he does. You inspired me to dust off the 360 and give it another run.
I still wish Raven would have made a game based on the Wolverine 2013 film. It would have been awesome to have a Wolverine game set in Japan.
Only problem is he loses the healing factor in that movie but I suppose you could tweak the game a bit to put that at the end
"The guy from Devil´s Third. No one remembers his name." I do! His name is Ivan.
also known as great russian folk hero roople pooples
Man, I know it's not in Matt's wheelhouse, but it would be neat to see him play Midnight Suns.
I had this game on 360 and flinging myself around like a hairy canadian pinball is just SATISFYING
This game is better than the movie that spawned it by orders of magnitude
Damn, Rage of Canada, the most apologetic of all rages
Always love Matts inability to do balance beam platforming 😂
I had a collected volume of Kitty Pryde and Wolverine comics. There was one where Kitty Pryde needs someone do drive her and her gal-pals to a Dazzler concert and learns that Woverine's birthday is coming up so she tries to arrange a celebration for him. Thing is Sabretooth has made it a tradition to absolutely wreck Logan's shit on his birthday so, of course, chaos ensues. That's the comic I always think about when trying to summon the platonic idea of Wolverine and Sabretooth's relationship, (As well as Logan and Kitty Pryde's of course)
Man I wish I still had that book because all the stories in it ruled.
Pretty sure the reason Wolverine hates water is because he played the NES game. I also love how on of his mutant powers often seems to be flying short distances.
While this game is monotonous, X-Men Origins: Wolverine is one of the better movie license games of all-time.
A definitive Sabretooth comic run has to be under Larry Hama during or adjacent to the Weapon X story by Barry Windsor Smith.
90s, early 90s where he did talk about his CIA past and Silver Fox/killing her and revealing she's HYDRA.
23:19 - Oh yeah, manhandling and chucking enemies around with wild abandon is absolutely one of my favorite combat features! One-arm slamming a soldier through a shed in Crysis is one of life's little joys.
Absolutely! Crysis is one of the best shooters ever.
You know how when you level up, Wolverine gains 5 Health and a tanktop?
When you pick up those little DNA helixes and get 5 Health, shouldn't you get another tanktop on top of the previous tanktop?
While everyone else is playing Elden Ring DLC, Matt decides to start a full LP of an Xbox 360 Wolverine game. Never change.
Really? Most people finished Erdtree a while ago, and there's a new movie with Wolverine in it coming out in a few days lol. I imagine a bunch of people will be checking this out again soon.
@@flophouseplays I'm always out of touch. To my best recollection I haven't heard of this game or the new movie until now.
@@ghostmutton You not seen a anything for Deadpool and Wolverine?
Given this is a Wolverine video, there is likely a trailer for it on this page.
Now if only we could get some kind of sequel, maybe with Laura and Daken as the main characters instead. (Laura in the blue and yellow, of course)
That would ROCK
8:12-8:23 I'm guessing that the team that worked on the game was trying to avoid an "A-O" rating from the ESRB for "Adults Only." That is one rating that most game companies don't want because it means that a game is considered "too graphic," and most stores that have video games will not sell the product.
I can imagine the heads of Department H just looking at the footage of fights and going “Shit! We spent so much money on the invisibility suits and now they got torn to shreds by a guy spinning!!”
Weapon X and Department H and all that IIRC was another go at trying to recreate the Super Soldier Serum that made Captain America
40:16 Pretty sure the reason Wolverine said, "home" when he was in Alaska in the cartoon is because after escaping the weapon x facility he lived in the Alaskan wilderness for a couple of years before eventually regaining his sense of self and returning to civilization.
I agree Matt, they really nailed Wolverine’s physique with the use of Consummate V’s
Yeah they pumped Jackman full of compound V
Trogdor 4 lyfe
What you mean?! Brett heart. He's the realist super hero Canada has ever have.
"How many dudes have I realistically killed?"
Oh geez I'm really going to do this aren't I? (aprox 108 at the point Matt said that)
*458* not including animated statues and lava monsters, have to guess around some edits and how enemies filter in.
I always thought the thing with water is that Adamantium is too dense to float, so it would drag Logan down
Fun little trick but in the flashback levels you can actually get the multiplying enemy type (can't remember their name) to keep spawning more than the game intends them to. It's the one where you fight a bunch of them on top of a tower. If you keep jumping back to the bottom and climbing back up, they multiply every time. It's really fun to do that move where you grab an enemy and swing him around, knocking the rest of them down lol.
Don't go chasin' waterfalls, Matt.
Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to.
This game really ages to show that he is the best at what he does
27:30 Mark Hamill Skeletor Appreciation, yes! :D Love me MotU Revelation/Revolution and got all the Masterverse figures. :D
1:10:11 one of my favorite Wolverine spin attacks now. Beserker Barrage was the first and this one definitely caught my eye. I wanna know the name of that move
Throwing enemies off high places IS fun.
Doesn't matter what game it is if enemies can be thrown I will do so.
I had convinced myself that the marvel anime had been something I dreamt up until I saw a 3 in 1 dvd pack at dollar general of xmen, wolverine, and blade. And now they're on the official yt channel...
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, I'd say is the most prominent example of a bad movie with a great game.
I always figured the blood on the helicopter being a lighting bug they just never fixed.
Yes! That game was awesome. I hope insomniac's is at least as good!
The Mummy Demastered was good despite being based off of the Tom Cruise Mummy movie. Was probably the best part of the Dark Universe (of its...maybe 3 parts).
fun fact: the original creator of Sabertooth says he conceived of him as being Wolverine's dad
One of the rare (but celebrated) cases where a tie-in game adaptation of a movie far exceeds the original.
I hope Insomniac takes a look at this game for inspiration whenever they're working on their go at a Wolverine game.
So I was just reading in Variety or People that when Ryan got on set for Origins Wolverine the script wasn't available or something because of a writers strike. May have had something to do with that movie's... Everything
Heck yeah, Say what you want about the movie (eh, I like it anyways cos Hugh is just so watchable as Wolverine) but this game was surprisingly enjoyable. :D
Another fun fact about this game, which might explain why certain characters that show up and plot elements that are different from the movie, from what I've heard the team was actually given an early/beta script of the film to work with for the game since at the time the movie was not official out yet. Not sure if Sentinels where a part of it, but it does explain some differences between this and movie.
This game is really awesome. It's also so old it has a reference to Lost, lol
This was the first Wolverine thing outside of comics, especially starring Jackman’s Wolvie proved that the gore AND costume could work outside of the comics.
You always know how to cure my boredom! Your content is simply amazing, man.
A pretty good licensed game and probably the only thing good to come from the movie.
I'm today years old finding out that my favorite joker of all time voiced one of my favorite characters in his best video game outing
This was legit such a good game. I must have replayed it half a dozen times at least.
i forgot he Kurt Hectics into the first level- that owns.
Why the hell is the rocky lava monster called Leviathan? That's the name of an AQUATIC monster from Biblical lore that resembles a serpent or whale.
5:06 Is that a Homestar Runner reference? That sounds like something Strongbad would say 👍
23:11 Lunge Chaining played the Phantom of the Opera back in 1925.
57:21 😂 I get that reference
I love the Dave reference! Why don't you listen to me, dood?!? There was nothing I could do!!!
Loved this game, one of the few games i 100%.
1:14:29 y'know this wouldn't be an awful design for Akihiro
Matt is finally acknowledging WOLVERINE'S REVENGE and saying why he hasn't playet it yet! Vindication!
This is one of my favorite Ps3/360 era games.
I'm so sad that I can't play this great game anymore
to be fair if Wolverine used his claws on that rope they'd probably just cut it
The only things I remember about this game is I enjoyed it and that ending. Looking forward to watching this.
23:04 Funny you mention that. According to Spider-Man (616), Logan smells like a wet dog that’s always drunk
36:55 that sounds really cool.
7:46 Matt channeling his inner Collossus
8:10 I think I read or heard somewhere that the blood was that color in that seen because of a contrast between the color they used for blood, the sky background, and the filter they used on the game. Don't quote me on that but it's definitely a glitch/bug though. I used to wonder the same thing when I first played the game because there are way more violent scenes in the game.
You can’t even buy that deadpool game digitally on console anymore
20:01 funny you ask about a wolverine and sabertooth comic Matt they actually finished a badass one called sabertooth war it's awesome but real messed up 😆 hope you see this and read it
As for video games that are better than the movies I’d have to say the punisher game is better than the movie
I really enjoyed getting all achievements on the 360 back in the day... good mindless fun.
Like Batman and Spider-man, I think Wolverine has the right set of powers that can translate well into video games.
Bad movie but great game. Not exactly the same as it isn't a full adaptation. Phantom Menace wasn't that great, but the pod racing game I remember being awesome.
Honestly I thought the games based off Phantom Menace for the most part (the Podracing game, The actual Phantom Menace game, and “Jedi Power Battles”) were really fun!!
Started this game twice, but never finished it. First playthrough ended on the Sentinel battle thanks to the glitched QTE and the second one ended on the Escape Weapon X facility mission when you need to take out 2 helis, took out the first one no problem, skydiving on to the second one was the hard part cause it flew off the screen and no matter how many times i reloaded the checkpoint it never returned. Fun game tho.
I played this on PS2 and it does NOT cut out the "violent, gooey bits", it is very much violent and gooey.
I beg you to actually look at footage of that again. Instead of going by memory.
@@flophouseplays actually now I think about it, I’m remembering it as a ps3 game. Was there a ps3 version? If so, it must be that one I’m thinking of and it definitely had blood, including the helicopter blades bit.
Oh hell yeah, love this game. Still have my copy for Xbox 360
Activision published Sekiro, so Wolverine was the second to last
Huh?
"I'll add this to my collection of things I'm pissed about"
God I wish I got this and it was backwards compatible
I don't know if that Mummy movie with Tom Cruise was actually that bad but The Mummy Demastered slapped
A full series!!!!!!
This game was awesome.
This game was so good, im still have my 360 copy
They really need to rerelease this...this and scarface are the only reason i still play xbox 360 (not even backwards compatible 😢
X2: Wolverine's Revenge on PS2. Where's it at?
Who wants to speculate about the Insomniac Wolverine game? I think it could be a souls-like taking place in the Canadian wilderness.
Replaying the game as well, I'm hoping insomniac's Wolverine will be officially shown off soon
i honestly dont know how Steve Blum has the time to do all this voice acting.. hes every 3rd character in star wars the old republic alone (not an exageration there are parts in the story that 2 characters talking are voiced by steve blum lol)
Is he collecting ally dog tags or enemies? Cos like he’s kinda desecrating the bodies if they’re allies
It bums me out that I’d need to find a 360 and an old copy of this to ever play it
Nice! But no Yellow/Blue or Brown/Tan costume?!?!?
Those are secret collectibles. You know how you unlock them? You find a secret room with Wolverine wearing the outfit and you have to kill him.
that (Part 1/3) just made my monday hell yeah
I wouldn't say it's great but the Eragon game on PS2 was good fun, especially co-op, even thought movie was awful. Still love the books
Did Raven Soft make a Guantánamo Bay joke *thumps up*? And comics aren't political
25:00 Mystic knights of tir na nog.
lol did they get everyone's likeness BUT Ryan Reynolds?
Ive been trying to track down a copy of this for PC.
Where does one get a copy?
Be nice if they can port this somehow or remaster this
Who else holds their crank when Wolvie is on screen?
My god hes doing a legit lets play???? Lol
