    • @ObsessiveGeek

      It was “Do you know what happens WHEN a toad…” as in it’s what happens to the opponent rather than him, Storm as you say turns it into a retort.

    In regards to wolverines claws:
    The reason they appear to be “constructed” in this and then retconned to have bone claws, is because when this movie was made (2000) the only existing origin for wolverine’s claws was Barry Windsor Smith’s “Marvel Presents: Wolverine: Weapon X” which was the story that introduced the idea of how wolverine got his claws, before that it just wasn’t talked about. More attached⬇️

    • @willknight685
      @willknight685 4 месяца назад +18

      And in X-men Origins: Wolverine (2009) retcons the fact that Logan had Bone claws for Decades before the adamantium was graphed to his bones. Which is from the Wolverine Origin comic run from 2001-2002 just one year after the original X-men movie!

    • @TalkinSnikt
      @TalkinSnikt 3 месяца назад +7

      Awesome write-up. I love seeing MCP referenced. The concept of bone claws was first introduced in the comics back in 1993, during the Fatal Attractions crossover event. In Wolverine (vol. 2) 75, Magneto pulls the adamantium out of Wolvie’s body. Later in the issue Wolvie pops his claws, revealing the bone claws. Wasn’t until issue 145 of the same series in 1999 that the adamantium was restored to his claws!

    • @willknight685
      @willknight685 3 месяца назад

      @@TalkinSnikt no totally I specifically meant it in terms of timeline and in regards to the way the movies handled it becuase prior to Wolverine Origins (comic) people debated on weather or not his bone claws were always his, or if his body was attempting to “regenerate” the claws after magneto removed the adamantium. But wolverine origins definitively answers that question.

    I'm glad you mentioned that the snap, and the massive amount of cosmic radiation it generated, could be one of the explanations for the appearance of mutants in the MCU. When Rocket said those words in Endgame (that Earth was like the center of that radiation, don't remember the exact quote) my first thoughts were "that's gonna activate the mutant DNA". It would be an explanation that would make SENSE, without needing to rewrite anything.

    32:42, In this film’s defense, the X-Men are specifically a covert strike force, making their darker uniforms appropriate for missions requiring a degree of discretion. The more colorful and unique suits would have probably worked better later down the line when mutants were more public.

    One question that I never understood, why did the cop with the magneto bullet, keep his head still, allowing the bullet to slowly drill into his head? Was he doing it willingly, out of fear because he was terrified of moving? Or, did he have some kind of metal on his head that magneto was controlling? I’ve seen this a million times, and I never really understood that moment. Like, I get all of the cops standing, frozen in fear, as magneto held their guns, that makes sense, but wouldn’t the cop with the bullet pushing into his forehead instinctively move to remove the pressure of the bullet?

    • @PDX-Red

      Just fear. Freezing like that is a pretty common reaction to such a threat.
      Think how someone would react to a knife being held at their throat, or their face. Then imagine the knife is just hanging there, on its own.
      The average person will freeze solid, like a deer in headlights - they won't be thinking about how to get out of the situation 'cos their mind will be too full of "WTF? I'm scared! WTF?! WTF?! I'm scared!!"
