Your bird pins are absolutely beautiful amy. Catching up on replay from Australia 🇦🇺 as it was the middle of the night for us
Thank you so much for watching it when you can! I really appreciate it! And I am so glad you like my bird pins! :)
Remember to tap that like button everyone!
Your prelude video and music are so relaxing!
Thanks so much for the stream Amy! It was loads of fun! I hope you are able to get some rest! 🤗
Thanks Melissa, I hope so too! I have a feeling I'm going to fall asleep tonight before my kids do! 😂
Bummed I missed the live, but I am in Australia so it was very early in the morning. I think you’re doing a wonderful job and I absolutely adore the enamel pens you’ve created. I can’t wait so you have more I love botanicals and butterflies. But I love the birds to which surprised me. I think you’re gonna be pleasantly surprised when you open your store. You are much more admired and loved and I think you give yourself credit for. I hope you feel better Soon.
Your pins are gorgeous!
I’m excited to see the washi tape!
Hullo Amy, well of course I see the LIVE link on my subscriber tab and I missed the live stream. Well I hope you enjoyed the stream despite your health issues. Ok, off to the video, not stream but recording of the stream! Beautiful pins! Your birds are simply perfection!
I should have put up a notification sooner in the community tab or on my Instagram or something! Another thing I need to figure out! :)
Hi Mjpete!
I love the pins!!
Thank you, Autumn! I appreciate it!
I love the birds! So pretty. ❤
Enjoyed today. Nice to watch you swatch. I don't have Chrohns or kids. I am the person who catches what other people have. I have a few health issues. I absolutely just love your enamel pins. I love birds very much. No you didn't say anything embarrassing. Take a rest if you get the chance.
:) Oh good I'm glad I didn't embarrass myself! I love birds too! Being sick isn't fun. I am so sorry you struggle with that. Hopefully someday it gets better. Thank you for watching!
Can’t wait for your shop opening!🎉🎉🎉
I can’t wait for the videos coming up very excited. Try and take care of yourself and all your videos are great. I didn’t know how to make your paper rougher for pastels so that’s a great tip. Your doing so much work for us and I really appreciate all you do it’s hard when your tired and you know sometimes when your just talking I still learn things. Well done 😊👩🏻🎨
Thank you so much, Sher! I really do appreciate the support and encouragement! I've been feeling a little burnt out and it definitely helps! Sometimes, when I make these videos and put them out, I have some imposter syndrome going on, like, why would anyone want to watch your videos? So it's nice to know some people, somewhere, really do like to watch them!
Love the pins and can’t wait to see your washi tape.
Thank you! 🤗
Early access for Patrons! Yay!
Very pretty pins!
Thanks so much, Eleanor! I appreciate it!
Aww I didn't get notified 😢 but I'm catching the replay!😊
Someone told me that to get notified for livestreams you have to make sure to click "all notifications" bell. But I don't really know. I Need to figure it out! Thank you for watching the replay!
I do have it clicked but I think RUclips just does what they want lol
OMG these are super cute!!!
Thank you! :)
I ordered a tub of the pastel ground through one of your Amazon links in the description. Hopefully you get credit for that!
You can use clear gesso too, it has more grit in the the other gesso
I have a bottle of the Liquitex clear gesso, but I haven't tried it yet! That's on my list to try soon!
Hi Amy! Your pins look terrific! Well done! I am looking forward to seeing your solution to the curling UArt paper. I just bought some spray adhesive and was going to glue mine to foam board. Also, I was going to use foam brushes for gesso and pastel ground, but do you think the silicone spreader you mentioned would work better? Is it shaped like a paintbrush but made of silicone or is it like a wedge scraper shape? I've tried paintbrushes before and got the lines, which I want to avoid.
Art spectrum ( is an Australian company) colour fix is correct
The pins are beautiful!! Will you be selling copies of your bird drawings? I would love to own some of them!
Yes! I think will! I have an archival art printer so I'm going to do some prints. I've been trying to figure out which ones I should offer because I am not going to do all of them.
I’m not sure if you know I’m sure you do there’s actually a machine you can use to take the pin backings off the pins so you don’t have to do it manually with your hands and get sore. I often see Baylee Jae, Mira Byler They may be able to give you some good places to go as recommendations that they have used before. I think it’s wonderful how you’re learning as you go to use technology you’ve already achieved so much and you continue to grow. I am so terrified of computers, I can’t figure them out. I know how to google and watch something and that’s about it.
I have one! I tried it on the video with the goldfinch pin and the pins weren't lined up enough for it to work. But the blue jays work! so at least I don't have to use my fingers for that one. Next time, if there is a next time, I will make sure they are lined up together. And yeah, I was just saying I've learned more in these last 7 months since I started RUclips then I have in the last five months put together!
I don’t know why are you Mum’s are so worried about interruptions happening when you are filming we are well aware that your mum and that kind of comes first, I don’t know about anyone else here, is bothered either I’d be more than happy for you to be filming something and a kid comes in. That’s fine. If people can’t handle that, then stiff they can go elsewhere. I watch one artist who is Polish and she’s maremi SmallArt, many times her daughter come in and do art with her. She comes in quite often. and you know what she has over 300K subscribers so just remember we’re here for the kids and the animals too.
Yeah. I try not to worry about it too much, but it also is really hard to find blocks of uninterrupted time too, because they need things a lot and I want to spend time with them while they are home for summer and what not. so that's part of that as well. When they go back to school< that's one thing I'm looking forward too!
What are good brands of soft and oil pastels on a budget to learn with?
I think for soft pastels you're better off with a harder pastel to start with at the very beginning. They are still considered soft pastels, but they are slightly harder, and they don't fill up the tooth of that paper as fast. Mungyo soft pastels are super cheap, like $10 a set and on the harder end, so if you have never used soft pastels ever and you aren't sure if you want to get a more expensive set, they are good enough to start with. They aren't as vibrant as the more expensive ones and I'm sure they aren't lightfast, but that's what I started with before I moved on to more expensive pastels. This is the set I started with: amzn.to/45gZrao I have two tutorials up with that set: ruclips.net/video/eQSz5253J74/видео.html and here: ruclips.net/video/QLhUbnDnWnA/видео.html I haven't found a great inexpensive oil pastel set. I started with pentel but they are hard and crumbly and smell bad. I really like the Mungyo Gallery soft oil pastels for an intermediate set. This set is my favorite: amzn.to/45kO7dt I don't know how lightfast they are but they are creamy and blend beautifully!
