Something fun you might enjoy when making rocks. You may have already tried this idea, but I'll throw it out there...1. Put some light and dark colors down you want for your rocks.Keep it good and wet! 2. Crumple up some plastic saran wrap and lay it over the top of the wet paint. The more crumple the better. 3. Add another piece of paper over the top of the plastic saran wrap. Add a book or stone, something heavy over the very top. 4. Let dry and remove the plastic saran wrap off the painting. The texture turns out amazing! There are lots of fine crazy fun lines that show up. Thank you for sharing with all of us your amazing artwork!! Always a joy watching your creative spirit!! Great job!!
😊 I'm going to have to try that Art Rock trick. Here in Western North Carolina. Ppl put Rocky all over. For the taking😊 it's like finding shells at the Beach lol Just found one today is a matter of fact. Have a Beautiful day/night
The main reason I started following you is because of your enthusiasm and openness... keep doing you!!!! Putting family and your own artistic journey first is vital. If others can't roll with that, then let them make their own path. I celebrate your choices
Family time is especially important. Post when you can. I love watching your videos. The hauls are so great. You get so excited and make it fun for me at home.
Amy, please keep pushing and trying new styles. I love love love it. You have made me realize that I won't know what I like unless I try it all. This was a very fun video. I love finding new pens that are waterproof. I have found so many no name pens that are great. And they are super cheap. I have been taking a new watercolor class and knowing that perfection is not the name of the game has made me feel so much better about my art. Thank you again for making my world beautiful again. You are truly amazing.
What a sweet encouraging comment to see on a Saturday morning! Thank you so much for that! I really appreciate it! And I feel the exact same way! You don't know what you don't know, right? I am so glad you are enjoying my channel! Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment!
Carbon platinum is a great fp ink, just don't leave it in a super pricey pen forever. I also like platinum pigment inks in sepia and blue... mixed with the carbon you can get your perfect paynes gray or off black. DeAtrimentis document inks are also excellent. Rohrer & Klingner sketch inks are mixable and fab, especially for bright color and I've had no feathering with calligraphy brushes or dip pens as long as the paper is suitable. I have several Sailor fude de mannen bent-nib pens that don't dry out even after a couple months with these inks... though I do give them a thorough cleaning before reinking if I let them sit for ages. I like the angle of the green pen, and once I got through the learning curve I'm totally in love with them for sketching. So glad you're coming back into the joy zone with your work! Take care of yourself and family first. We'll be happy to see your vids when it's convenient for you to load them, and seriously, if any of your viewers require a more structured experience I bet they can find that on your patreon. 😉
You hit the nail on the knob! I have the same problem trying to make it realistic enough I always want it better I need to loosen up and enjoy. I am frozen because I don't think I am good enough and I am only starting out. I better get going before it's too late as I am 68. I can't thank you enough for all your help and hard work 👍 ❤️ blessings from Ontario 🇨🇦
You can do it! It didn't start with my art again until a few years ago! I was going to art school, got sick, had to leave, and never got to go back. I didn't pick up a paint brush for almost 20 years. It's never too late! Do what you love! And thank you for watching!
Ames... your heart spoke true throughout this sesh, we all feel the authenticity of yr delivery....you could paint doorknobs & we'd be all over it because it's less about the subject than the artist growing before our eyes & simultaneously giving all of us permission to keep growing too.... Yr healing is our own... ty for all of it... !!
Hullo Amy, SO glad your doing better and enjoying yourself a bit too! I do hope your Patreon is doing well and that you are getting enough support over there too! I have been using the Acurit technical pens or India-ink dip pens or platinum carbon ink in fountain pens for waterproof inks! I have been at this for quite some time and it was a chore getting myself to use pens other than dip and India-Ink! Nice video I am enjoying watching your videos. Thanks for posting such wonderful content!
Jeeze, sometimes we are our own worst enemies - it happens - BUT you caught yourself & are correcting that! Go girl! Do what feels good & it will show in your work. I love what you are doing - thank you for sharing. I use the Uniball micro - haven’t tried the other but hope to.
Since I’m retired and never know what day it is anyway, anytime that is best for your family would be fine by me. Sorry to hear or your hard month-yes, keep the faith, not all months are bad , not all years are good. I’ve had a bad 2024 also-I lost my mother, my husband died in my arms (thankfully he was revived by a quick rescue squad response), I have MS which gives me struggles daily. Keeping the faith is our lifeline. I love to see your sketching. You’re doing a great job-do the things you love and it will transfer your enjoyment to us!
I have been using Uniball Jetstream pens for over a decade for my ordinary work! Love them! A box of these pens is now much cheaper on amazon than they were a few years back. I had no idea of the art-related qualities. Thanks, Amy!!
🌬🎨Just put those pens in my Cart 😊 Thanks for sharing all your Goodies 😊 I love getting new art supplies like a kid in a Candy store lol But it also gets me in trouble lol Cc Wise. Hope you feel better soon. Seems like we have all Battling something these days 😢 Seeing healing Angels your way. Stronger Together 🙏😇🙏😇
Excited! I will have to try them. Give us an update how they perform after drawing over watercolor a few times. I've had my nibs clog up when drawing over dried watercolor with other brands. It's as if the ink reactivated the watercolor and it clogged them...
Holy moly! I’m excited about these pens now too!😂 It was fun watching your process. I must try! Thursday or Friday sounds good. I would want to spend Saturdays with my family too! Thanks for the video!❤
Hi Amy. Thanks for sharing your discovery of these pens. I understand your explanation of your art style evolving. You have to follow your heart and do what brings you joy. Funny how people immediately label styles or things as trends. Post whenever it works for you, I'll be watching. 😊 have a great week!
Your enthusiasm and joyfulness over ink pens is infectious and a pleasure to watch. I , myself, have a erm…”problem” when it comes to collecting art supplies so I totally get it! 😂 I have so many I’ve never even used! (But I plan to eventually)! I suffer from a hyper active desire to do it ALL, and very low impulse control. 😂 But even the art supplies I have yet to use just make me happy when I look at them, lol. I once read a little art meme that said “collecting art supplies and using art supplies are two totally different things.”. That made me smile because I knew there were kindred spirits out there. But I’m starting to ramble…. The point of this post was to let you know that I enjoy your presentation style. You come across so natural and real. Not to mention you produce lovely pieces of art! And as far as changing your posting times, I don’t personally think it matters and I think most of your viewers agree. Just keep doing what you love! 🥰 We’ll be there to watch whenever it comes out. 😊 Have a great day! ❤
I'm looking forward to your Artober challenge -- the prompts are great, especially because there's quite a few animals on the list. Thanks for the review -- I always love a good black pen!
This video makes me wanna go sketch and get my paints out right now! So real, and enthusiastic! I REALLY enjoy doing line and wash art and it’s nice to have more pens to add to my pen case! I’ve never used white gel pens with my paintings and have always been “afraid” of adding something other than watercolor to my art. But as you mentioned, there are no rules. I may have to start dabbling in mixed media and also get a white gel pen. I love the way it looked for that window trim. Great art as usual! Upload whenever you need, I watch when I can anyway with kids and everything so day and time doesn’t matter to me. Take care of yourself and family first, upload whenever you want! Great video Amy, thank you!
Hi ya! First, whatever day works for you to upload, works for me. I hop on RUclips almost every day and always watch your content as soon as I see it available. I am a RUclips junkie....sigh...is there a 12-step program for that? 🤣You had me actually lol-ing over your excitement of the pens. I totally get it! I've put those in my Amazon list and when I get through some these Microns, i will definitely give those a try. I actually have some of the Vision ones in a few different colors from years ago (I think I stole them from work...haha). They are still good whenever I use one, and I do love the way they lay down the ink. I just never really use any color other than black, brown, or grey when ink, especially when I am doing line and wash. Love the art, especially the houses on the water. Yeah, I can't imagine anything that can suck the joy out of creating art than doing it RUclips. I've always thought you were one brave woman - and good for you for finding what works for you. After doing hyper-realistic color pencil work for awhile, it dawned on me one day that so what if it looks like a photograph. Where is the creativity in that? Where is a piece of me to be found in that work? Well, here I am again, writing another novella.... I'll shut up now...🤣
Being retired, all seven days of the week are Saturdays/Sundays to me, so it makes little difference which days you upload. However, I do agree with what many others have said that health, family and your own art journey should be top of your priority list when allocating your time - and if that means uploading on a mid-week day, so be it. Those pens look promising in terms of line & wash and i hope they work really well for you. I'm currently using a mix of fountain pen (with Noodlers Bulletproof ink), Faber Castell Pitt liners & Sakura Pigma liners but at some stage I might try out one the drawing pens you featured in the video. Incidentally, I've already commented on your announcement on Instagram, but congratulations again on reaching 10,000 subscribers - it's a very well-deserved reward for all your hard work! Kind regards, Brian.
I'm still experimenting with my fountain pens and inks. I'm not totally satisfied with any of the inks I've tried so far. Hopefully I find one I love soon! And thank you for the congratulations! It was a huge milestone for me to hit yesterday! I still can't believe it! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave a comment!
Yes!! Those JetStream pens are my Favorite! They used to come in an orange box and so happy they rebranded and released them again. I’ve been buying them by the box for a long time they were getting hard to find. They’re the only pen I actually use til it runs out. The ink is so smooth and consistent and they allow you to write with little effort. ♥️
The Vision micro has been my favorite for years. Thanks for sharing about the Jetstream, I didn't know it's waterproof too, the line looks a bit thicker on that one. Any day you post works for me, enjoy your family time
You pick the day to post. I will still watch you! A suggestion: pen and water soluble graphite pencil demo please. Love watching you and the knowledge you impart 💜
My favorite drawing pen is the Uniball Air Micro. Its also waterproof AND it also gives a thicker line width with pressure on the tip. There is also a regular Uniball Air that is still good but the micro starts out with a thinner line.
Love the piece you did and I’m going to try the pens I’ve been searching for something that I can use with watercolours. What ever day works best for you, spend the time with your family 😊👩🏻🎨
Hi Amy, anytime you post is fine…family always comes first…our kids grow way too fast so cherish time with them and hubby first. I can’t wait to find these pens and try them. I have a fountain pen I love but these will be better to travel with so I don’t have to bring extra ink. Ps…I love the way the houses look like faces😁
Okay so here's a question, what's ypur favorite brand of ink for your fountain pen? I'm still trying to find one I love! Also, thanks for the feedback regarding posting time! I appreciate it! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave a comment!
For the fountain pen…have you tried Platinum Carbon Black or DeAtramentis Document ink? They have to dry but are waterproof. Also, do what’s best for you and your family 100%
Thank you for your video on the waterproof pens. I am just starting to work with pen and watercolor and needed this recommendation. I used your links and have ordered both. Thanks again!
Family time zips by so quickly. Enjoy and appreciate the stages as your family grows. Then the memories banked will add to 6our creativity. Your audience is probably in a variety of time zones and will watch when the videos fit into their time. My youngest grandchild is about to be 17. We had grand times but they pass so quickly. Enjoy and it will flow into your work..
I've been feeling that way myself lately. Thank you for reminding me! I know it will be over too soon! And thank ypu for watching and leaving a comment! I appreciate it!
First of all Saturday: you absolutely want to prioritise spending the time with your family -- that's like a weeks worth of stress relief and chilling all in one go. Everything you put out for you art is wonderful, inspiring and I love you videos. To help you really embrace the loose sketching that you've found you're needing at the moment: I recommend TobySketchLoose, you'll be able to chill watching his videos or more likely you'll be wanting to pull out a sketchbook. Take care of yourself and best wishes
Hi Amy! Any day you post is fine by me. The Baohong Academy paper is a little smoother than the regular Baohong paper, otherwise it's the same. I'm not sure which you were using. ❤
I've been using the Uniball vision Deluxe Micro and fine for over 20 years...they have red and blue too...and the DELUXE...version...was fancier looking , though the same as the regular...love to try your jet pen by uniball...what line thickness is it...or just comes in one? thanks ...love this paintings...very nice Amy...thank you for showing...Janis
I swear I thought they were new!!! Maybe they just reformulate them to be light fast and that's why I thought they were new?? Oh well, they are new to me! Lol! Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment!
Not to change the subject on your video but I was in the market for new printers, are yours you recommended last year still holding up? If not do you have a recommendation for another
I literally just did a video with the carbon black! Everyone tells me it's waterproof, but I struggle with it bleeding in my watercolors. You can check that video out to see what I mean if you want. But I haven't tried the DeAtramentis yet! I've been trying to get my hands on a bottle of the urban grey but it's currently out of stock! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@winterwoodsstudio I had to let the carbon black dry overnight for sure so I can see how it could be a pain to use. Goulet pens did a video testing black fountain pen inks and carbon black won. There’s one that’s supposed to be more permanent but it’s super expensive $60 per bottle 😲
Will you be selling prints of the cabins and the boats or perhaps a 2025 calendar of some of your sketch book works? I would be really keen to purchase, not sure about anyone else? Just a thought. Love your style! Carla
Yes! I love microns! All of black and white pen and ink drawings are done with either microns or dip pens and ink. I go through microns really fast, though, usually wearing out the nib long before I use up the ink. And it bothers me that you cant refill them, because they arent cheap. So then I thought, I'd like to find a fountain pen ink that was truly waterproof to replace the dip pen and ink (because i like to vary the line weight) because no matter how hard I try, I always seem to knock over my bottle of ink. And I wanted to use it plein air sketching in place of microns. I'm starting to think that will never happen though. So then, I just wanted a cheap waterproof lightfast pen to take with me sketching! I'm so glad I found these!
Pretty much every pen (ball point, roller ball, and gel pen) that I've tested is not truly waterproof. It will bleed some and muddy your watercolors. Some if them are very much not waterproof. but it's the lightfast part that's really exciting! Almost no ball point or roller ball pens are light fast. Even things like sharpies will fade or dissappear completely when exposed to sunlight. Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave a comment!
Love when you leave in the drawing part. I understand your reasoning for getting looser but please don't leave your realism fully. It does have so very much life and soul to them. Perhaps finding a way to remember what gave you happiness and joy in the beginning might help you see it more.
Also, if you bend who you are too much to satisfy RUclips, giving it your first fruits, so to speak, then you're authentic approach might change. And we're here because you're authentic. Enjoy your family, refill your bucket.
The problem is that toxic jerks ruin everything that online. I'm sorry it got to you! Us normal people are supportive and positive! The toxic jerks can leave now!
Yeah... honestly having a YouTub4 channel has been a lot harder emotionally then I thought it would be. I k ew there would be a few perks here and there but the amount of unkindness and hate I gave seen was kind of shocking. It's actually really sad. Anyway, good thing there are good people out there too! thank you for watching and commenting!
I’m curious why you feel the need to go over your pencil drawing with black ink. For me that kills some or all of the spontaneity from the get go which seems at odds with injecting more personality and life into your work. To me this is the difference between illustration and fine art (I make mixed media art so am not opposed to pen, that’s not the issue). I appreciate your desire to add yourself into your work which is part of what keeps art alive, this is just food for thought along those lines. Try leaving your pencil drawing as is, and omit the drawing altogether and dive right in, it doesn’t get any better than the joy of making art! 😊
Mostly because I like how it looks I think! I don't always do line and wash, but for line and wash pieces, I like the line! thank you for watching and commenting!
I enjoy your commentary, but I don’t enjoy the speed it up videos. I don’t watch any videos that are sped up or have music. I just want to hear the sounds of your studio and your voice teaching what you are on RUclips to do. I don’t understand speeding up videos if you’re trying to teach something.
I have non-sped up videos on patreon, which is really where I do my teaching. Turns out, there was a big change a year or so ago, and the youtube algorithm doesn't really like art tutorial videos much anymore. It's a big discussion among the artist community and a lot of us are not happy. If you search it, there are a lot of videos up about it. At the same time, a lot of us count RUclips as one of our major income streams, so that we can make a living doing what we love, so to some extent, we have to please the algorithm or risk losing our income. If you scroll back, I have quite a few real time tutorials up in my older videos, before the algorithm changed. Anyway, all we can do is go with the flow. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful little fishing village!! 🏘 Remember to care for yourself! 🤗 If a different kind of art is more therapeutic, by all means, go for it!! 👍 Your health is more important than RUclips!! 😍 One thing I have heard from other artists is that it is important to have multiple streams of income. RUclips is not as reliable as a steady stream. The algorithm is changed frequently and in their favor, not yours. I think you are working on some, so if RUclips is not behaving, lean into other avenues. Those pens look awesome! 👌 Reach out for sponsors. Sometimes, that works? Good luck with your health journey! 🙏 I hope you find answers that help. It is very stressful knowing something isn't right and running into doctors who sometimes don't listen or come in with preconceived ideas. Big hugs! 🫂

Oh man! I thought they were brand new! Well, they are new to me and I am loving them! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Oooh! Interesting idea! I'll have to play around and see what I can come up with! thank you for watching and commenting!
Thursday or Friday is ok with me. 😊 Those pens are really nice. Always fun to try new art styles. Do whatever makes you feel happy! ❤
My favorite drawing pen is the Uniball Air Micro. Its also waterproof AND it also gives a thicker line width with pressure on the tip. There is also a regular Uniball Air that is still good but the micro starts out with a thinner line.
Oooh! I have to check that one out! Thank ypu for the tip and for watching!
They turned out really well! I really like your pen and ink drawings! Any time you post is fine.
Thank you so much! And thank you for the feedback about the posting day! I appreciate it!
Great information and video, thanks! In regards to posting schedule, I think whatever is convenient for you is just fine.
Good to know! Thanks for the feedback! thank you for watching and commenting!
Love the piece you did and I’m going to try the pens I’ve been searching for something that I can use with watercolours.
What ever day works best for you, spend the time with your family 😊👩🏻🎨
You will have to let me know what you think about them! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and leave a comment!
Oh and I love this painting
Okay so here's a question, what's ypur favorite brand of ink for your fountain pen? I'm still trying to find one I love! Also, thanks for the feedback regarding posting time! I appreciate it! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave a comment!
For the fountain pen…have you tried Platinum Carbon Black or DeAtramentis Document ink? They have to dry but are waterproof. Also, do what’s best for you and your family 100%
Great video! Love your ink and wash paintings.
Thank you so much!
I only found you today!! 😃Family time first, every time!!
Thank you for your video on the waterproof pens. I am just starting to work with pen and watercolor and needed this recommendation. I used your links and have ordered both. Thanks again!

YES….UNI always have been my fav!
Put your family first - always!
Definitely spend time with your family on Saturday. Posting during the week is fine.
The time switch works for me. Family is ultra important and I think that is your priority.
Change the time. I often dont see you until later. Love these pens. All artists evolve so can you. Enjoy and do what you want.
Thank you for the helpful feedback! I really appreciate that you took the time to leave me a comment to help me out! Thank you for watching!
Whatever works best for you with the video is best for us. Thanks!
Thank you so much! I've been looking for good waterproof pens and these being reasonably priced is a double win!
They are awesome! I am really enjoying them! I hope you do too! And thanks for watching!
Thanks for the demo on these; the rollerball has been my standard writing pen for a while.
Really? I thought they just came out! Oh well! They are new to me and I am loving them! Thanks fir watching and commenting!

Thanks for the feedback, Teresa! I appreciate it! And thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tips! I will have to check him put! He sounds right up my alley! Thank you for watching!
I enjoy your freedom to express your own art work and your feelings about what you like... freedom to be... is more enjoyable to watch...
Ya can't go wrong with Mitsubishi Pencil Co. 😁
Been using vision pen for a very long time…..Uniball great pens🎉🎉🎉❤️
It's so good! I love them!
As far as posting goes, protect your family time!
Thank you, I will!
This was fun for me to watch..less stressful than doing a painting myself.
Beauty❤
Spending time with family is important so do it we will be fine with it
Hi Amy! Any day you post is fine by me.
The Baohong Academy paper is a little smoother than the regular Baohong paper, otherwise it's the same. I'm not sure which you were using. ❤
Thanks for the tips! It was the bahong academy. I still think it's a good budget option but I definitely still love my Arches! Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed the video. I vote Thursday posting.
I really like your channel!
This is excelent!!! I would really like to know what that white liner is!!!
I think you mean the white gel pen? That is a uniball signo and they are my favorite gel pen!
Any day works for me amy, you & your family come first always.
You're the best! Thanks for understanding and thank you for watching and commenting!
Uniball vision is my go to non fancy pen
Any day that works best for you, Amy!
Thanks Maureen! I appreciated the feedback!
Lots of other people I follow upload on Friday’s so I vote for Thursday :)
Please spend time with your family God bless ❤️
If not do you have a recommendation for another
For the fountain pen…have you tried Platinum Carbon Black or DeAtramentis Document ink? They have to dry but are waterproof
Ps you’re doing great…I love the line and wash. Never thought to try my other Uni pens but I use UniPin pens mostly
Will you be selling prints of the cabins and the boats or perhaps a 2025 calendar of some of your sketch book works? I would be really keen to purchase, not sure about anyone else? Just a thought. Love your style! Carla
Micron pens come in a pack of various widths. They dry in less than five minutes
You should post your videos whenever is best for you!
Family first!
Thank you!
Post videos whenever it works for you!
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it! 🧡
Lightfast and waterproof is a big deal. I switched to fountain pens because the ink was important with journaling and watercolor.
I don’t use a wide variety of ballpoint pens but every one I’ve used has been waterproof. Is that rare?
Any day you put it up ok
Thanks for the feedback, Eldrid! I appreciate it! And thanks for always watching!

❤️❤️❤️ those of us that care are here for ya! ❤️❤️❤️
Nice
You need to fix the lighting
If I have some extra money someday I would love to!
Big hugs! 🫂
