So glad that you have a nice big studio now. I paint in a part of my bedroom that also is my sewing space. I am a fiber artist as well as a painter and it is not easy to combine paint space with fabrics, bed and clothing. I tried having my sewing in the small “Great” room which is my everything room in my small house but I just make too much of a mess and that drives me nuts. Now I am having a part of my detached garage built into a 9’x13’ paint studio. I live in mountains that are gorgeous but gets very cold in the winter. Last week it was -20 F so it has to be very well insulated and heated. I will keep my paints and mediums in the house during the winter just in case it freezes and just take out there what I am using each day. It is taking months to get finished and I’m getting frustrated but it will be fantastic when it is done.
Wow, that does sound like a lot to fit in part of the bedroom! I'm glad to hear you are building a studio in your garage. Good luck finishing the setup, I hope you love it!
Nice studio, I love seeing how other artists make a space work for them. My studio is a spare bedroom and it really is too small. I record my podcast in there, paint, draw, frame, edit photos and video, etc - you get the idea.
Organizing your work space is a very big skill and very important. It turned out that I didn't have it. I like everything I need out there and at hand, but it interferes with my work. That's why I watch such films with interest. I'm glad you have your own space to create. I wish you great painting achievements. I'd love to sit there and watch you paint. Kind regards!
Beautiful studio, Christina! Congratulations and Happy New Year! I use a very tiny spare bedroom as my studio, but man-oh-man is it ever CRAMPED! I dream of the day I can get a space like this! It’s so exciting!
Congratulations on graduating from your cramped utilitarian studio to more of a dream professional space. It's probably a nice change having a separation between your work life and your home life.
I am glad to get to see thi.s It is a neat space with just enough space to have things organized and stored. Watching this changes sort of my idea of what a "perfect" studio has to be. Maybe my room will actually be able to work if i try. my "studio" is my room where my big bed is lol.
Very nice. I am lucky enough to have a loft are in my house which wasn't really being used I have now transformed it into my studio space and my home office.
Thank you! So in the past year I realized I made most of my income through large paintings, and I felt like focusing on larger work is the direction I want to go in for my career, however I was struggling to make and store them in my small space. Plus i wanted to be able to invite curators and collectors to my studio. I was already making enough money to cover the studio rent, and I knew the studio would enable me to earn more, so I knew it was time to make the switch.
I love seeing other people's spaces. Thanks for sharing yours.
Lovely studio! The natural light is a huge bonus.
Thank you! Yes, I love the natural light :)
I’m just preparing to have my first studio outside of my home here in Portugal. Great to get ideas on what’s handy to have!
Glad you found it helpful! Good luck setting up your studio :)

Wow, that is impressive! I used to paint in my bedroom as well, but none of the other stuff. I hope you can get more space soon!

Thank you! No, I buy stretched and primed canvases.
Hi ! Love it ! Can i ask how did you make a decision to move into a proper studio ? I mean at what point financially you thought it’s time ? x

Is the Vuillard book an exhibition catalog?
I think so, but I bought it secondhand
Beautiful work you do. San Francisco is so expensive now, hang on tight, most artists are obliged to leave the city because of the cost.
Thank you! Yes, the cost of living is definitely a challenge here. Thankfully I'm finding lots of opportunities as well, and I am hanging on!
I really love your studio🌸🌼 i am in process of buying studio and it's so stresfull as an starting artist to find m2 and price to match that you want😭
Thank you! Yes I know what you mean... it can take time. I hope you find a great studio soon!
america has so much more space than uk in general... houses and art studios, ugh
