I've been trying to reach my niece about just this very thing. Music has a duality to it. It is above all a performance art. Yet, time in a studio can realize a grander vision of a song. However, that is not a reason to invite comparison to a live performance. Learning to appreciate the performance is what music is all about. Always invest in a live performance and see where it takes you. And....be open to the nuance of a patiently constructed studio masterpiece. Either way you won't go wrong. Either way, in the end, it's about the performance.

Then Barbara Streisand’s mother told her she couldn’t sing either and would never get anywhere singing. Both True stories. Parents can do a lot of damage. James Deans father didn’t think he could act either. Ridiculous.

Idk why it took me so long to know her, but I'm glad I did it and now I praise her work as it should. What a singer!
