My land burned to Ash last year...but this year, the elderberry trees have already grown to over 10 ft.The berries are more brilliant than they have ever been.Every medicine plant has come back 10 fold, and there are even some new plants that wearnt there before.
I'm a qualified herbalist and I thoroughly enjoy these! Love you guys!
The Romans used the branches, with the pith hollowed out, as pipes joined with clay.
They also did the same thing in the late primitive days😊 primitive man tried smoking everything they also used it to blow on the embers in the fire or wen they put embers on antlers etc to break them for tools😊
You remind me of the legend David Bellamy with your enthusiasm 💪😁
Totally agree
That's a great compliment!
Oh great spot yeah there is something there. Love Bellamy, total legend as you say.
...and also, the fork trick! amazingly helpful!
I have lived here for 19 years and now I know what the tree is in my garden.
I hope you keep hard copies of all your videos stored off line as the world will need them if facebook is wiped one day
We're currently halfway through a book with it all in 😁
I've made 3 batches so far, there's so much fruit about this year I can't stop! We get through the syrup quick like you guys. Tastes so good. I used cinnamon sticks, cloves, ginger and lemons in mine this year. Love your channel, you make me feel safe and cosy xx
What a lovely thing to say💞
What is the proportion of all the ingredients you make the syrup with
i seen on another channel...you can freeze on branch then shake in bag berries fall right off🤗
You both inspired me last year to go Elderberry foraging and I made this beautifull tonic that I drank each day for 3 months feeling boosted and amazing this is Amazing and infused with fresh root ginger for double protection
I can see the berries now changing colour to purple black where I am and will be making this goodness any day now
With sourcing local honey farms to purchase local Bees honey the best kind .
Love this new vid 🙏
Blessings

Thank you. I found some elderberries and am going to make this soon.
Your recipes are so good for natural resources
I love that I learn little things from you, how you said “look at the color, how could that not be good for you”. And it brings the knowledge all together!
😁
I LOVE ELDERBERRIES...
Elderflowers...everything Elderberry... 🤩😍
They are amazing!
You guys are awesome, love your life principles around health and well-being.
Such a simple addition to our medicinal arsenal! Thank you!
I'm not the only one who saves the fever tree bottles then haha
I have been saving elderberries in freezer for a while. The tree keeps flowering all summer, i harvested little by little. When i get enough i will make this. Amazing, thanks. 😊
Thank you for your fantastic knowledge sharing ….love your videos
Your welcome 🙂
I love how comprehensive your instructions are, it's so easy to follow, you don't miss covering any of the sensible questions that people might have to make it realistically. Thank you so much from nz.
✌️😁
cant wait to make it. almost ripe...ours are on bushes. looks wonderful...love your personalities
Do you reckon I could do this in a slow cooker or would it lose out on something necessary in the process by not reaching a boiling point?
I just spent the best part of an hour removing every tiny bit of stem, I wonder if it was really necessary. Oh well better safe than sorry. I've been told to freeze the berries next time as this should make them easier to deal with. Great vid as allways guys 🌞
I am making it right now, i have been saving elderberries little by little in freezer. I measured it is 3 cups, yeah, i got enough. Added 5 cups of water to make it thicker. 😊
Amazing work guys ! Thanks so much for sharing I will make some tomorrow!
You’re brilliant! Thank you!
Thanks so much, I'll be foraging this week💜
Thank you so much guys ❤️

Thankyou both 💖💖💖
Making mine this coming weekend :) thankyou so much for another beautifully presented tutorial!
Your welcome luci! 💚
Loving this idea, my elder is late this year, the berries are still rock hard, I keep giving them a squeeze!
Excellent as always I don't peel ginger though and if you want to use a teaspoon and scrape it comes of easy
Best recipe I found thank you 😍
Im going to make this wish me success thank you for sharing!
thank u 🙏🏻
nice job
double dipped aaaahhhhh!
Just made mine...added sweet cinnamon..omg it tastes like heaven...thanks once again guys ,sending love 😊
Heaven in a bottle should be it's name!
Hey dane apparently the mainstream medical industry has started promoting something natural and yes its elder😁(my nan told me it was on the news) I think I gonna make some of this😊 also will they make dye?🤔 I just made a vid about basic colours and one on making a pressure flaker with elder wood coz of that easy to remove pith and I wanna do more primitive technology with elder...its a very soft delicate tree but yet its a mighty tree one of my favourites 😊 comes close to yew...yew is my favourite tree🙃🙃
Every now & then somthing natural pops up in TV but never seems to catch on! I know that elder has been used for dye throughout history but we've never tried. Onion skin's works Suprisingly well as dye as it goes.
I'll check out your new videos dude!
I always put them in the freezer and then it’s so much easier to pull the berries off😊
Great video, I'm wondering if we can use the flowers to brew for tea??
Yes check it out I make it in this video ✌️😁

Hi there.apologies if you have already answered this question. Do I just gently heat the honey to melt so as not to destroy the goodness. Also. Does the cooking process not kill the goodness. On a side note...I made some before and didn't cook it enough a few years ago and it fermented in the bottled... was explosive!. So transferred to plastic but had to use quickly ! Thanks so much for your inspiration. Irish fan ☘🌟💫
Taking the berries off with a fork is so satisfying. I made elderberry capers with the green berries earlier this year, not sure about their health properties but a wonderful culinary delight. Off to forage now ❤
Enjoy 😁
Dane, can you please do a video on Lupine?
Lovely video thank you. I'd love to make some, I have my elderberries already (in the freezer), however I'm going on low carb diet shortly so I'm more interested in making a tincture. Do you have a video for that please?
We don't have a tincture video but they are simple to make have a Google 🙂
There are some elderberry near me, but hemlock is growing round it. Us it still safe to use?
Only just found your channel and absolutely loving it ♥and all of you. I want to but one of your books but as I'm a little short on money which would you suggest first? I'm very interested in things like this elderberry syrup and the cordials, fruit leather. I'm also Vegan but I gather from the comments, it's best to use maple syrup or sugar as the honey substitute but I was just wondering if any of the honey's you make would work or agave? TIA
STEMS!!!!!!
Hiya , great video and very helpful....would it be ok if i used ground ginger , thank you
Yes 🙂
Thank you so much...take care
But it says on google that the fruit off the elderberry is poisonous but the elderberry flowers is ok to eat raw or cook. But the berries has to be cooked.
Your vids are Very informative thank you.
Did you know that blackberries first came into existence in grave yards as the were used to keep out the grave robbers and also the blackberries when turned wild grew into brambles.
The fruit itself is not poisonous it is the seed and stems same thing with chokecherries the seed is poisonous
@@johnslife6669 So, the best thing is not to press it or mash it, just cook it straight, correct?
@@nebojsa1976 you can press them to get all the juice just don't mash and crush seeds chokecherries same thing
@@johnslife6669😂
Can you freeze elderberry?
Yes you can
I have an elderberry tree but I thought it was a poisonous type. Then you said the berries are poisonous till cooked. So my question is, can you use any elderberry berries as long as you cook it? I really want to make this!
Just did 14quarts of elderberry juice..
Your videos go silent…. I think I’d love to watch and hear you guys all at the same time!! I’ll go check out your other platforms. Just hope u know the sound is messed up.
Can you make fruit strips with the syrup?
Not sure its not very thick of you made it thicker maybe
@@homeiswhereourheartis thank you ….I’m going to crack on making the syrup today,, following your brilliant recipe
Have you got a writen recipe please?
We've all our recipes written in our book 🙂
do you think molasses would work instead of honey for a vegan?
Sorry we've not heard of molasses
You can use normal sugar or maple syrup instead 😁
If you freeze the berries they come of the stems easier
I want whatever he had. Plzzzz. Lol
Have you made sloe syrup?
We've not made it before 😁

Lovely vid. I make mine with Brandy too, been out this week foraging for berries, the Blackberries aren't ripe yet but when they are i will also mix them in with them for some jams. I always thank these lovely trees when I pick the Berries too. Last year a found a new one growing in the garden, it shot up this last year as well and picked some lovely berries from her a couple of days ago.
It would nearly be cheaper for me to buy the syrup as the price of that much honey would probably cost the guts of £20. Or if you guys know of anywhere cheaper
You should remove the stems and green berries.
very low volume
This is the definition of “how many dishes can I dirty with making one recipe”. Great video otherwise.
