I have viewed a few of your videos Ashley over a period of time but never used to be able to find many. I love the strength of some of your videos & then there are the more delicate ones. The fine craftsmanship of your finial work is a joy to behold. I am not a woodturner but a disabled, retired Senior Master of Art teaching in South Australia so my viewing of the many woodturning videos that I watch, is from the 'Eye of the Artist'. Your work shows your considerable artistic talents & I will be watching your videos as I come across them. Lovely project here & lovely skills. Cheers, Don.
Ashley, you are truly a master of your craft. So inspiring. It's wonderful of you to share it with us. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous works of art with us all.
I am now officially a subscriber! Wahoo! Watching you work gives this old man great joy and comfort. My daughter is 23 and is now considering working with me in the wood shop. Thank you so much and keep up the good work.
I remember share lunch with you at the Florida Woodturner Symposium and enjoyed your demo that day. What amazes me is how far you have come in those short few years. You are truly a professional in all senses of the word. CONGRATULATIONS.
Wow! Seeing the huge turning of those Barolo tables, THEN the small turning of this finial inside the box was such a juxtaposition in my mind it was awesome.
Watching you is kinda like watching golf on TV. You really don’t know how difficult it is till you have tried it. You and Tiger are two of a kind. Gave up on golf now at 83 I’m trying turning.
I`m not into the wood turning but never the less I have watched all your videos. Today I finally subscribed, the reason is so simple to me, I have a feeling that you are a very nice person and that`s just enough for me no matter what and how you do what you do. Wish you all the best and greetings from Serbia.
That is a beautiful project. This is far beyond my skill level but I can still appreciate your artistic concept and lathe techniques. It's fun to watch a master work.
The last time I did any wood turning was in high school... back in the early ‘80! It scared the heck out of me! You make it look effortless! Great job! I really don’t understand how this video was recommended but I’m glad I watched the whole thing! Thanks!
Excellent demonstration. Well recovered. One of the older men at a Woodcraft society I was a member of called those "opportunities for creative expression".
I'm a noob an this is light years beyond my ability. I am blown away by your skill and creativity. Hello from Saskatchewan, Canada and you have yet another subscriber.
I have to say, coming to this video after seeing the table one is remarkable. I can't think of anyone else that would turn a behemoth like the table and something as delicate and subtle as this with seemingly equal facility. Truly amazing.
Yet another example of terrific planning to safely hide a hidden treasure inside of the sphere. When I started turning, I did not do plans. I kmow I had more failures than successes as a result. Now, I draw out complex turnings. I even have templates that I place on the bedway to use as a guide when turning. Thanks for showing us the way. Again, excellent camera work. I am guessing it is Kat?
I'm loving the fact a woman has made a big impact in a world that was typically for men. I saw the very large tables you turned and was jumping up and down for you. Love your work. I'm 62 yrs old and was one of two girls, to be the first to take carpentry classes. I would love to have been you in those days. Love your work.
There were quite a few ( better ) women wood turners before this ( I consider this T&A advert turning ) look at Hayley Mills, Betty Scarpino, Marilyn Campbell and quite a few others - they have been around for decades.....look up old AAW shows....I do give her props for showing how she screwed up tho....
The proportions are excellent and the lines all work together, crafty recovery from the miscalculation, l think some of those recoveries are what puts the "fun" in turning, (that is, when we can get away with them) Excellent work. Looking forward to seeing more, all the best.
A viewer knows the intent is achieved when we see your smile. I believe that is important with designing and creating a piece of art. Well made video too. Thanks.
As a craftsman my two favorite sayings are 1) It’s not that craftsman don’t make mistakes, it’s their ability to recover from the mistakes that make them craftsman. and 2) You’ve never made a mistake until you’ve done something you can’t get out of. 😊🙃 I absolutely love your work and your videos. You’re an inspiration to so many people. ♥️
I love that finial you made. Now I know what I might do with the antique ebony keys from an old piano I had from the 1890s. Glue a stack of ebony keys and make finials, Christmas ornaments, or chess pieces.
You are incredibly brave and so talented to stand in front of great hunks of wood to create great projects. I am just starting out turning and have learned a great deal from your passion. Thanks so much for this.
I very much liked what I saw....words fail me to even try to attempt to describe my feelings! So very beautiful!!! An actual work of art. Could not comprehend how on earth you could possibly create what you did from the piece you started with! Excellent work!!! If this is a sample of what you do, I am hooked...you have my subscription!
Well Sea urchins and stand have turned out well and added to my inventory so... maybe try this... Maybe!!!! Only trouble with watching an artist is it looks so easy.. LOL Beautiful work Ashley and thank you for all the instruction, confidence and inspiration you give..
Wow, cutting the sphere freehand is an art of its own, and with such a slender stem. The way the grain matched up was perfect. Well done Ashley, watching your work keeps the rest of us novice turners inspired. Happy New Year.
if i ever have the chance to learn your skills before...mmm let's say before it's too late, that is the peace i would like to make for when....mmm it will be too late...this piece, like so many you did, but this one is simply amazing and so close...lol, to real perfection. Thank you sooooo much
What an awesome project Ashley! I believe this is probably one of if not my favorite projects you have turned. I especially like the design modification. It just goes to show you are just like the rest of us and do occasionally make a "Happy accident".
I’ve been following you on RUclips for a while, and if I had to find a word to depict the way you master wood turning, I would say you’re “therapeutic” 😁 When I had to learn the basics, I saw tons of videos with experienced wood workers using several techniques and methods. But what I see in your working is something unique: you’re elegant (just look at the smooth way you handle your gouges, it seems they’re never over-pushed on the tool rest...). The living proof that a good and well studied design can always get to a less “muscular” realisation. And your explanations are always very clear, even for me that English is not my native language...😊 What’s more? I regret to be so far from your school 😁😁😁 Seriously, chapeau and keep up your great work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That spherical box is awesome! Walnut oil? Interesting! I've used brazilian rosewood oil on a cool project - finishing a 5 by 8 ft table built from 2x12 redwood salvaged from the floor of a bull barn from a dairy farm that was started in the 1920s. So may oils, finishes, stains - interesting and fun stuff to work with! Again - fun to watch your videos - especially with that super cute smile and talented hands! Great stuff!
I am glad to see you plan out your work before you start the project. How many times I see a wood turner start to turn a piece while saying he has no idea what it is going to end up looking like. Good for you.
1. That helmet is way cool. 2. Her nails and hands look to be in such nice delicate care considering what she's doing. 3. She's very lovely with a soothing voice.
Just a wonderful and fun project to do and beautiful craftsmanship Ashley. Been following you for sometime on and off from the beginning. Your vids are well done and your a breath of fresh air and your explanation of things are awesome. Great job as usual.👍👍👍 John Miller Custom Woodturnings
Semplicemente, MERAVIGLIOSE !!! Le tue creazioni e tu, Ashley. Anche io lavoro il legno e creo oggettistica (anche a tornio). Diciamolo : è un materiale che ti entra dentro al Cuore. Buona Vita

These projects, are where you bring artistry and engineering together.

Super cool design. Reminds me of Fabergé eggs but much more humble and practical.
That is a beautiful project. This is far beyond my skill level but I can still appreciate your artistic concept and lathe techniques. It's fun to watch a master work.
Thank you very much!
Wonderful art. Mesmerizing video. Thank you for showing us this beautiful peaces
My pleasure 😊
Fantastic to see a woman doing woodturning on RUclips! I'm also on RUclips, but I'm making wooden toys 😊.
That's a beautiful special box!
The last time I did any wood turning was in high school... back in the early ‘80! It scared the heck out of me! You make it look effortless! Great job! I really don’t understand how this video was recommended but I’m glad I watched the whole thing! Thanks!
Probably the most beautiful box I have seen in a lifetime. Very nice!
I'm in Love - With your woodworking. Beautiful work
Thank you for a great video. I was sitting in my chair with my 7 year old daughter. And she thought it was amazing what you did.

Definitely a world class piece of art. Very nice fit between the top and bottom; near seamless.
I have to say, coming to this video after seeing the table one is remarkable. I can't think of anyone else that would turn a behemoth like the table and something as delicate and subtle as this with seemingly equal facility. Truly amazing.
Ashley, thank you for elaborating on your design process. It was nice to see you exercise sound spindle tooling technique. Excellent results as usual.
Thanks. It's fun to watch another turner at their craft. Every oops is an opportunity to add artistic embellishment. Please keep posting videos.

Truly beautiful workmanship. Very elegant.
Thank you very much!
Lady, thats' a fantastic creation.
Pure genius, terrifyingly inspiring, a gift for all who work on a lathe.
Very nice, my 10 yr old daughter wants to make one now, might be a good Dad and Daughter project.
Absolutely fantastic job.
You really do make it look easy Ashley. Beautiful box, and the double finial is a nice touch. Thanks for letting us watch you work.
Mark
Simply exquisite! Your attitude and the light touch produce amazing results.
Wow crazy awesome finial
The proportions are excellent and the lines all work together, crafty recovery from the miscalculation, l think some of those recoveries are what puts the "fun" in turning, (that is, when we can get away with them) Excellent work. Looking forward to seeing more, all the best.
You are skilled at recruiting and shaping wood with great skill .. I hope to acquire some of your artistic products, wooden puzzles, or a chessboard.
Such an awesome talent with brilliant skills. The box looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing your craft.
Awesome project, beautiful craftsmanship, and there ain't no one who can do finials as good as you!
Well Cindy Drozda is at least neck and neck in the running. LOL Sorry Ashley I had to throw that in.
@@glencrandall7051 Good point. Drozda does some fine finials too.

You have a talent for wood, beyond your years. Well done 👍 to watch you turn wood is both enjoyable and incredibly informative. Well done, Atta Girl 😳
Nicely done! I like that short wide scraper that you used.
You have gotten me interested in lathe work!
Your production value is constantly getting better, not that it was bad. Very well done.
Outstanding piece of work.
lovely work Ashley!
I am glad to see you plan out your work before you start the project. How many times I see a wood turner start to turn a piece while saying he has no idea what it is going to end up looking like. Good for you.

Showing how mistakes can be turned into something creative is really helpful.
