Thanks for sharing this info. I belong to a couple of ML with over 325 tracks uploaded. But I have one track (two versions, :30 and :15 alt) that is used in the radio commercials of a major US retailer for over a year. For these tracks I am compensated $1,750 a month from the retailer. I have yet to upload the tracks to any music library. If I upload to say, Scorekeepers, how does that affect the retailer? Thanks for any opinion!
Just subbed and I have got into sync licensing two years ago and it’s something I am so glad I have libraries I am a part of. This was a good video and Jessie is awesome and have been a part of SyncEdge. Thanks for the video!
Certainly appreciate the amount of info for sync licensing, you're providing. I need to expand my library, but unfortunately I'm unable to get the new songs copyrighted. What do you suggest is the best option? Thanks for your time.
Well, copyright is not something that should keep you from expanding. In the US songs are copyrighted when you put them into a fixed form. And if a library publishes them, or you register them with a PRO that also adds a latter of protection.
I wasn't aware of that PROs could help protect songs, just didn't want the hassle of trying to prove the rights. I'll look into this a bit further. Thanks for the insight.
Thank you so much for your videos 💯 I for one would greatly appreciate a composition channel because I’ve recently taken down my instrumentals to peruse licensing instead. Along with film scoring. Your channel is a great help, God Bless
I'd be interested in a composition channel. My main focus is orchestral music but I don't doubt there will be a lot of transferable information regardless of style. I'd especially be interested to hear what make music more suitable for sync vs stock.
I know Jesse and Clint both have books they sell that are exactly what you are looking for. I don’t think that is something I will make as I cover all income streams.
Actually I am mistaken it was the video right before this one. You will find it at 5:19. Hold onto your butts. ruclips.net/video/cz346a5C8rM/видео.html
Thanks so much for your videos. Any idea where I can find a list of non exclusive music libraries? I would pay for the list. Again thanks for being awesome.
Questions in this video you said not to send it out to too many libraries, and keep it to like 4 at a time..I assumed this is for people who are trying to get into Exclusive libraries....does it apply if I'm targeting non exclusive libraries?
thanks for all this! question, if I own the composition 100% but the producer who was part of the song with owns 15% of the masters and i own the other 85%, what do I do to become a one-stop shop, do i need to own 100% to be able to use it in sync?
Well, the producer would be part of the deal since he owns 15% of the master. Sync royalties go to the master owner(s) and PRO royalties go to the writer/publishers. In this case you could still be “one stop” you’d just have to have the producer on board with you making decisions on the song. One stop means they don’t have to check with anyone else and can trust YOU ONLY to make the decisions without having to check with anyone else.
I'm puzzled. You draw a distinction between artists who write and composers. Well, geez, I don't know where I fit in. I write music, but I also compose music. I'm not sure if I know what the difference is. A clarification would help.
Well I think many of us are both right, but I know some songwriters who would never think of themselves as a composer say of film music, or orchestral scores. And I know composers who think writing music for “songs” with lyrics is totally a foreign experience for them (unless it’s opera, and even then they often bring in a librettist.) But ARTISTS who write are a completely different breed and may think of themselves as a songwriter, but again most likely not a composer in the classical sense, or even someone who would make cues for advertising or instrumentals for licensing.
Question. Is there a service that I can put my music on where I can post a link to my music on (not sound cloud). If you were a Sync Library - I want one link I can send to you and you hear my music only.
Hi Great channel..I’m looking to get into sync as a songwriter.. do you have to copyright every song or just upload to ascap? And do you mix and master in your home studio..thanks
@@MakeMusicIncome Perfect.. thanks one more question. Let's say you wrote the song..Melody arrangement everything. etc..But hired pro players to spice it up with better chords...Who would be classified as the producer of the song? Would it be yourself?..And just have listed Keyboardist.."Blah blah"..Bass Player by "Blah Blah"
@@MakeMusicIncome I get it ..Just like how Quincy Jones was credited for Michael Jackson’s Thriller even though there were numerous other musicians that played on the album..Great info you have just gained a subscriber sir
Well, Quincy was the genius producer of Thriller, so not just a “credit” LOL. He was responsible for hiring and directing those amazing musicians on the album!
I mean it’s pretty simple. A short to the point email with a link to SoundCloud or a DISCO link. You don’t need to talk about your music in life experiences or anything like that. Just a line about how you found the library, that you think you might be a good fit, and you’d love it if they would take a listen to your music at this link. And then leave the link to SoundCloud or DISCO.
I took another look and to be honest I don’t think AI will immediately affect music supervisors, sync agents, or music libraries right now. All three of those STILL and more than ever are looking for talented and authentic music by humans. Sure there may be calls for AI music, but they don’t want user generated stuff anymore than I do from students when they turn in ChatGPT text. If you produce only MIDI pack and Loop-Based music, then yeah you may be at risk to be replaced by AI. But not session players and human vocalists who have style.
What an amazing video, thank you so much for taking the time to make this and thank you for going so in depth! I had a question about sync agents - how is best to find one? I understand you said you don’t have much experience with this but later in the video when you were talking about how they love artists who write, I wondered if you’d heard any names pop up that would be good to reach out to? Thanks I’m advance 🤍

Afternoon Eric. Great video!!! I am.looking for the video where you show the example of your cover letter. Can you please post a link to that video.

No you can absolutely send as much as you are allowed to non-exclusive libraries.
Thank you
You're welcome!

I need information on how to deliver my music/content for sync licensing.
I’m working on a video called “How to Find Music Libraries!” Coming soon!
I'm interested in composition chanel. Does it apply to music based on songwriting?
Yes it talks about all composing. Check out HelloComposers.com
What do you need to do before sync?
See this video where I talk about focused plan to get ready for sync. ruclips.net/video/cz346a5C8rM/видео.html

Disco is like a more secure SoundCloud, but it is $10/mo. SoundCloud also has a private option, but you may get advertisements on a free plan.
Thank you so much!
Hi
Great channel..I’m looking to get into sync as a songwriter.. do you have to copyright every song or just upload to ascap? And do you mix and master in your home studio..thanks
I would not copyright or register songs you plan to send to sync. That info may change when stuff gets signed.
@@MakeMusicIncome ok great.. thx for answering
No problem!
@@MakeMusicIncome what would you do with the song if no one picks it up for syncing? Then would you move forward with copyrights and registration?
Great video ..Do you hire demo singers before sending out your songs ?
Usually for sync
I hire pro players, singers, and engineers.
@@MakeMusicIncome Perfect.. thanks one more question. No they are work for hire, meaning after they are paid they are re not owed anything. You stay the producer and owner of the song.

Does this video apply to obtaining a sync license to post youtube music covers?
Not really. If I’m understanding your question. Whoever owns the song usually has “sync” or Content ID rights on the song.
I'm curious what the advent of AI generated music in the past few months has on the ideas introduced here.
I took another look and to be honest I don’t think AI will immediately affect music supervisors, sync agents, or music libraries right now. great songs? I'd say great SOUNDING songs are more important these days as music is so subjective
Don't create new chennal.. post everything here. Its all are related stuff
