How This Music Artist Makes Six Figures In 2023 | I Can't Believe It!
Question about putting up your best music when applying as a stock music artist. If I get rejected, can I work on new songs and try again?
Of course!
@MakeMusicIncome Thank you! Appreciated 👏
Would love to hear some examples of your work. Anywhere I can go for that? I scrolled a little bit through your content but quickly realized how much content you have. 🤣
Sure. Go to PositiveSpinSongs.com, PlayerAJazz.com, QuietSoulPiano.com, or EricCopelandMusic.com. That should keep you busy.
she was very good. For $100 it's worth it.
So true. I use ez-drummer when I write and I spend so much time making sure the drums sound realistic. I feel like taking the extra steps to dial it in makes me write better music for my ear. By the way, thanks for your interview with the rep from songtrust. It answered a few of my questions.
You are welcome!!
Hey, thanks for sharing. I also just started using it. I was just wondering how you drive traffic to your store? 😊
This channel?? 😂
@@MakeMusicIncome 🤣🤣🤣🙏
Is it legit? Are those briefs even for real projects? How do I know they’re not just made up? Has anyone had success with it?
Yes ppl have had success. But I didn’t.
Can anyone honestly say they know for a fact that a song they got forwarded by TAXI, actually showed up as a welcome sign in the receiving entities mailbox? That said receiver didn't just throw everything they got unsolicited in the trash? How about the "screeners?" Katy Perry used to be one. Look up her comments sometime. Randy Bachman - THE Randy Bachman - used their services for 1 year and got NOTHING placed! You mean they couldn't even help an old master like that get back into it even once??? Finally, their CEO runs around defending them all over message boards, comments sections, chatrooms etc. trying to shoot down criticism of the company. He's even callee out for it on Gearspace [formerly Gearslutz.] I think places like Reddit, Gearspace, etc are where you'll hear the unfettered truth about TAXI because they would overtime to gaslight legit criticism [they called Katy a "bad reviewer" lol] 😜 Bottom line, the industry is filled with far more people who never spent a dime to get heard, and companies like TAXI have very few successes to speak pf overall.
Oh are you saying how do we know it actually got forwarded? I do have many reports of people getting calls and contacted by libraries after a TAXI forward. But me forwards never produced such a contact. Even though I signed with many libraries during that time on my own.
thank you
well done! small remark if it may help - you may want to talk to your sheet music transcriber about the basso in the piano piece "Duetta" - it needs an extraterrestrial hand to play them (unless someone arpeggiates these and still...)
I'm sure they were meant to be arpeggiated. Usually with a pedal.
Jesus is God read the Bible
Amen bro!
@23:50, Mark who?? I couldn't understand what name either of you said. I only heard his first name.

@@MakeMusicIncome Thank you!
Hi Eric, have you seen Pond5’s new contributor agreement? It seems like artists are about to only receive 30% from now on
Yep. Not surprised. I just raised my prices.
@@MakeMusicIncomethat’s fair enough! I think they’ve also made a cut to our dataset earnings too but I don’t fully understand, all they’ve written is “Given their restricted use rights and narrow license scope, dataset earnings will now earn 20%”
@@Nathoster I don't pretend to understand it. But basically everywhere we put our music we have to deal with the rules of that place or site, or not do the gig. So...
Yeah, that was my experience with TAXI also. I only got one forward. Doing this on my own, and submitting my own works directly to libraries, including those works that the screeners rejected, I've done far better. The screeners at TAXI are sadly somewhat inconsistent and somewhat like a brick wall to get past.
Yep. Save money and get into libraries yourself. What a concept.
did you know that ASCAP uses SoundMouse to identify certain kinds of performances? Would be interested to see your thoughts on this. AND that publishers are expected to upload waves to soundmouse to monitor the tracks
Makes sense.
Very good video. Been studying this for several days.
Yeah, I wanted to get to the bottom of it.
@@MakeMusicIncome I'm signing with NRG. They had written that I have royalties in Czech Republic but I thought it was some kinda pitch. I'm a library composer who had to eject from California basically because of my publisher Mars's divorce. I never fully returned but have created about 400 works since I've been back in Florida. :) I was mainly with APM Music.
Has anyone gotten an actual payout yet?
Of course. Didn't you watch the video? Everyone talked about how much they made.
Yeah I missed that sorry. Thank you!
Reason why I asked it that earnings are not payments and there's lag. But if people actually got payments thats great!
Hey Eric is there a way to collab with you on some sync projects??
Email me at eric@makemusicincome@gmail.com
@ thanks
INSTANTLY: YOU CAN TELL THAT MARK IS A GENUINELY LOVELY MAN👍🙏
Thank you so much for your tips! I'm thinking of starting doing this too. But I have a question: Can I submit the same songs to all of those sites because they're non-exclusive or do I have to upload different songs to different sites? I'm quite new in the whole royalty thing.
Nope that's the beauty of it. All the same songs can be put on all the different nonexclusive libraries
@@MakeMusicIncome that is absolutely fantastic!!! Thanks for the fast reply! God bless 🙏🏼
Looks like Pond5's newest contributor agreement is cutting our dataset earnings (for music) down to 20%. It used to be 35%. It also looks like other content is being affected as well. This sucks. Was looking forward to another big payday.
Was it 35% or was that the percentage of sales?
@@MakeMusicIncome Check your email. Pond5 sent one out detailing the percentage cut. Apparently we're now going to start earning royalties, similar to ASCAP or BMI, when content is used commercially. We'll see how that goes. I'm not holding my breath lol. For music creators, any music sold from Datasets, we were paid out 35% from the total sale from the revenue our music library was sold for. Due to us now getting royalties from the music, regardless if it's datasets or otherwise, any music sold in datasets is now cut back to 20%. I'd usually call it a win, but you know Pond5, it's likely they'll be dipping their hands in our royalty earnings as well.
I should be crossing 200+ tracks in sync soon, still working on getting faster and better!
Excellent!
I engrave music on FINAL or DORICO. Lead sheets or Piano vocal. Affordable and quick turnaround
Look at some of the greatest artists they dont last 10 years in music.
It's so helpful. Thank you.
You are welcome! Good luck!
Made it 20 years so far, but having a hard to sticking with it lately.
It's not easy! But don't give up!
Message received!
Thanks! I am not concerned about monetizing but in protecting my music from being content ID'd fraudulently. I have heard of this happening. I understand my original music is protected legally and I can prove I registered my songs first with MLC, BMI etc., if someone claims my song as theirs first through content ID I could be in a tough situation. I also could be in a situation where I don't even know it's happening. I am trying to only release on RUclips and quit doing the CD Baby thing. What are your thoughts on this? I hope I am missing something.
I don't get releasing only on RUclips? Why not release to streaming?
@@MakeMusicIncome Because I can no longer communicate with CDBaby. After years of working with them with no issues, I now get no response. It has been going down hill for the past couple of years. I currently have an album uploaded but have a couple of unanswered questions now for well over 4 weeks. I don't like the idea of if a real issue came up what would happen not being able to get through. I also would rather just focus on one platform for now anyway. I guess to rephrase my question, how easy is it for another youtuber to content id my original music? I have heard of this happening and would like to know ways to prevent that without going through a distributor for now. Thanks.
@@MakeMusicIncome I just want to hold off on that for now. I guess my main questions is how easy would it be for someone to place content ID on my original music if I have not done it myself or through a distributor first. I have heard of it happening but not sure how real that is.
Hi Eric. I've tried Audimee and it's great. However, what do you think about stock / sync libraries allowing its use? I asked Motion Array and they said they don't allow any tracks with AI vocals. Great Video. Thanks
And yet they offer AI voiceover now. Hmmm. But no library should allow AI generated tracks. However they could have their own AI generation for clients.
Keep on playing brother in music, subbed
Great presentation Eric👍👍
Thank you, Tony
I’m surprised that people saying “i really want to be an artists/composer” etc and don’t know that they need to actually have music 😂I mean the making music bit is one of the best parts of being a musician. If a person is focused on making TikToks, marketing and trying to make money but don’t/cant make music then I think they are probably focused on the wrong things and not likely to be successful in the creative music space. Maybe they would be better of focusing on music marketing (which is definitely something worth pursuing) Maybe those sorts of people love the idea but are afraid to put themselves out there? Or are not willing to learn how to make music.
i decided to be an exclusive artist on audiosparx. got every track up. loving it.
seems to be cool
So I actually made a decent amount of money, selling beat leases and sound kits and sending out melody loops for major placement opportunities but what I found very quickly is that most scumbags will just pirate your stuff and not credit you. I am owed thousands in royalties LOL. I pretty much recommend people just don’t try to make music their main source of income
Beats is a whole Different business that I just have not been comfortable getting into.
#truth #noexcuses
Hey Eric, do you know if i can use Identifyy’s Content ID, while using Songtrust as my publishing administrator, if i have opted out of Songtrust’s Content ID? Will it cause conflicts or no?
If you have opted out of song trust content ID, then you can use identifyy all you want.
@@MakeMusicIncome Thank you for answering! Do you use Songtrust and if so, have you had any problems with using identifyy content id and not songtrust’s, ?
I have been stuck on Processing for months since March and still not processed what a waste of money
That stinks!
@@MakeMusicIncome it's more than stink it's wicked and evil to do people that
question about content ID -- with Identifyy, there seems to be a maximum of 10 minutes. what is the best avenue for content ID for songs longer than 10 minutes?
I don't really know about that sorry!
How do I know if my music is already copyrighted on identifyy? When uploading the music on identifyy it counts in the status as "delivered" but when uploading a video with my music on you tube the standard RUclips claim message doesn't appear. This is worrying me. Thank you in already.
That's not really what Content ID is for. It's for claiming when OTHER people use your song. Is your music uploaded to streaming services? It would need to be for a claim to happen.
@@MakeMusicIncome Here's the thing, I've seen my songs being used on RUclips on some channels, but I don't see the claim message! I have also tested a song licensed by me and uploaded it to my channel and still the claim message does not appear. I just wanted to know if this is normal? Or if there's a problem with that!
Hi, how can I see if my music is claming? Because I have some songs aproved in identifyy but I can not see the RUclips massage Copyright calming bellow the videos that use my music like I used to see if I upload my song in a music distributor? Do you know if its normal? Or if still going to claim? Because its been just a week that I upload my song! Thank for share your knowledge with us.
I don't think you can.
Awesome content as always Eric, I couldn't catch this live this time. Time management is a thing. Take care and have a great weekend! :)
Thanks Buddy!
because making music takes time and effort, and the time invested is valuable, it is money. If you give your music and receive little or nothing in return, you are giving away your time, your effort and your money.
That's why those of us who are seasoned professionals tell anybody with that kind of attitude in your comment, to just quit music.
LOL. Right.
Or if they CAN quit...they probably should.
Yes, but what if that valuable music is never heard by anyone. If a song sits in a hard drive, does it make a sound?
@@MakeMusicIncomeexactly
Inspirational! but question, for the rejected sample emails that you've share with us in the later part of the video, do you wait to be be approved/rejected per song submission? or do you submit a package of multiple songs for approval? My second question is, what governs honesty standards among these libraries, I mean what are the chances that you submit good piece of music but they reject it but still include it elsewhere or somewhere as their own work or as creative commons. How can you keep track of your music pieces and their use on the internet by other artists/user/platforms?
What governs honesty in any profession? At some point you are trusting the company knows what it's doing right?
