Yes you have to make a decision if the money making part of it is sucking the soul out of you.
I had to stop playing in cover bands even though I was making decent money at it, one night on a gig I realized I never wanted to hear China Grove ever again, Mustang Sally or any of it. I could go the rest of my life without hearing classic rock ever again.
I had the same epiphany listening to Rick Beato do a 90’s nostalgia thing this past weekend.
I’m done with nostalgia, I don’t want to hear any of it, love it, listened to it, it’s in the past.
Bach, Mozart, Chopin that’s a different story.
Onward with making music I’m passionate about, clearing the decks for that.

Glad someone out there gets it. To be honest I think if I had to pick one thing that I would do it would just be to compose. I put it on all these places just because I can. And the fact that they make income is great. But I think I am about done making music that other people request. I guess you could say I don’t take requests lol.

I haven't been successful with non-exclusive libraries yet, but I also didn't put a lot of music on those; I guess 30 songs and upwards is a good start to even know if your stuff is good enough or within the ballpark. But yeah in this market more is really more, and it seems to be the way to go.
Love your videos, they are always very helpful and encouraging!

My OH doesn't want to make what others want. He makes what he's feeling. It just comes out of him. If it goes somewhere it does, if it doesn't it doesn't. It just needs to come out and captured, if that makes sense? This side of it all was my idea, telling him I could hear some of it in a movie, because it makes me feel a certain way. I pray that it would for him, because it would be a dream fulfilled. I mean, he made money playing out ten years total in front of people. Playing other peoples stuff and originals too. This is different it's all him.

@@MakeMusicIncome good video learning this business on our own, without having to spend money to learn the right way? That we feel is out there for free, being frugal doesn't allow us to spend money on stuff, that we should be able to figure out on our own. I know we've probably made a bunch of mistakes along the way, but we're learning. If nothing more, it'll be out there for anyone that knew him, to hear when he's gone. As he says I gave the world something to hear, and hopefully it'll touch them, and part of me will live on, after I am gone. He ain't made a lot but at least he's made something onward and upward right.
