    Great video. I had an album released by a publisher early last week, and on Friday, it was used on NBC's Dateline - for full 3,5 minutes! Longest placement I've ever had, basically for the first fifteen minutes it was just my music. From one track into another - both of them mine. Crazy stuff! Hang in there, new producers, nothing beats THAT feeling.

      @@NIKMMUSIC Thanks! Just keep at it, the more you write the better you become, and the better publishers you sign with. The better the publishers and their connections, the better / better paying the placements.

    Last year in 2020 I earned over $7k from BMI in international royalties from a song that I produced 30 years ago that my Publisher had registered with my PRO and that was just last year!!! I've been receiving consistent international royalties since 2013 from that same 30 y/o track. So I've been out of music for the last 10+ years but I'm geared up and ready to get back at it! And for all of you that believe it's not possible trust me it is! I know that you're saying that "you can't live on $7k a year" and you'd be correct. However, consider if I had 5, 10, or even 50 songs that were generating that amount of royalties every year????? I'm just saying........ Thanks Jessie for sharing your knowledge about this genre of music licensing! Before receiving these royalties I had NO IDEA!!!!

    To those who think that the production music from the past was cheezy and didn't generate any fans, one word......Spongebob.
    That entire soundtrack was cheezy as Hell, but is generating a lot of fans now since it's nostalgic and just sounds super fun, it always brings a smile on my face :)
    So even the cheezy tracks have a place in the collective mind, and I honestly think that the soundtrack of Spongebob will be better remembered then the next hit.
    But thats my honest opinion.

    I appreciate what you had to say. I signed with a library a few years ago with the same idea: I love to create and a library is a better place for my work than my hard drive. My tracks were not that well-produced but I discovered this week that one of those tracks was used in a reality TV show last year. Small fee but more than if the track never left my hard drive.

    This is 100% facts! This is the beauty about working with good libraries is that there are a lot more opportunities with multiple clients. We've had the one song placed on NBC, ESPN, CBS, DISNEY and countless others and after 5 years is still making money. While it may not be the 'Big' fee everyone's looking for, most of the time constant and consistent residuals for years to come override any one time payment. Sync licensing is all a patience game but well worth it if y'all are focused and devoted.

    Thanks Jesse ! No “digital dust” over here! 🙂 I love that term 🤣 My strategy is pretty much the same as yours. Occasionally I’ll send content to music supervisors but mainly submitting quality music to libraries consistently. About 3 years now. 💪🏾

    Hey Jesse, thanks for this and all your other videos on the channel. I'm just getting off the ground, with a few albums in two libraries since about a year ago. It sounds like it will still be a little while before I begin to see income trickle in, but I'm in it for the long game and want to make this my career. Your videos have been one of the most helpful resources in starting to see success, so thank you.
    I think I saw one video of yours on developing relationships with libraries (after that first album), but I haven't seen a lot out there. This is kinda where I am at right now, and if you feel inclined to address it further, that would be helpful. Thanks again.

    Thanks for this content Jesse,
    You make a lot of great points here.
    I've been doing toplines for EDM labels for the past few years and just released my own independent project this year, but library licensing is definitely something I've been exploring for the reasons you've outlined in this video.
    Unused tracks on a hard drive can translate into passive income if you build the right relationships, and can contribute to your industry footprint overall, leading to new opportunities.
    Thanks again for all the work you do on this channel.

    What i am afraid about is my music being accepted by a library but just sit in their catalogue forever. Is that possible or do they HAVE to get it placed? Because i see many boutique libraries that don't have that much fame and I'm afraid of being accepted by them just for this reason.

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  Год назад

      Nope that's a real risk - no one HAS to place your music. That's why its crucial you partner with the right library and try to secure a 2nd one to A/B compare the results.

    Great video thanks for sharing, also Jesse I’m with a music library an I’ve got 12 placements with them, also they communicate with me well let me know what songs they need, so my question is should I continue sending them tracks or don’t put all my eggs in same nest and take on another music library

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  2 года назад +2

      Sounds like you may want to continue working with them, but I would recommend you look into building another relationship with a 2nd company so you can compare results.

    • @SyncMyMusic

      It depends on the Library. Some of them are ok with that as long as your music is REALLY good.

      The libraries that fit you. The libraries that are placing alot of music that you are doing.

    And there’s no reason you can’t pitch the songs you have on exclusive libraries to music supervisors if you just HAVE to pitch for some opportunity. Then if they want it, they can just get it from the library you’re signed to and it’s super easy for them to license.

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  2 года назад +2

      To be safe you should be asking your exclusive Library partners if they're ok with that. The contract you signed may have stipulated that they have exclusive rights to represent your tracks to clients. Always better to be transparent.

    • @MakeMusicIncome
      @MakeMusicIncome 2 года назад

      Understood. Rule #1 right? Always check with your library about everything you do or question you may have once you sign.
