    One of the most effective, simple things I changed to my productions was running a high-pass filter on the master buss around 30-50 Hz. It cleans up the sound and gives more headroom to compress and limit.

    •  4 года назад +1

      50 hz is too high my man maybe 40

      As long as it's below the lowest note the bass plays. Or below the bass drum if that's lower. I.e., if your bass plays down to an E1, that's ~41 Hz, so as long as the fundamental of your bass drum is higher than that, you could high pass at 40 Hz or lower. I'd recommend going down a few extra, so I'd go no higher than 38 Hz.

    Personally, I would NEVER give up any of my writer's share. I understand why you did and why some do but me personally, I would never do that. When I started in the sync world many deals were where the Library got 50-100% of the Publishing (now it's always 100%) and sync fees were split 70/30 in favor of the writer...now those are at best 50/50 and some don't even split the sync fee..the only thing you DO get IS the writer's share. It is the only aspect that you can continue to own and profit from. As soon as you start giving that away soon you will have nothing. If you give that up they will take it, keep asking for more and soon that becomes the standard.

    HFA does not issue licenses for users on RUclips, or any other online video service. However, RUclips has entered into a license agreement with many music publishers for when RUclips users upload videos that contain those music publisher’s songs.
    This license enables RUclips users to legally include musical compositions in their user-generated content, as long as the user complies with the monetization process.
    For more information on RUclips's content ID system, please click here.
    For information on whether a particular publisher has a license agreement with RUclips, please contact the publisher directly. You can locate publisher contact information by using the public search function at the following websites:

    This is great! I have a question, I was charged hundreds of dollars to get a placement. After two months of sparse communication, I inquired about the lack thereof and was basically threatened to be black balled for being impatient. Its was pretty expensive so I thought I could at least inquire but I mistaken. Is this how the licensing world works? Is that legal? Should I be worried about that threat? You seem to have a lot of experience, I’m just curious and a bit confused about that ordeal. If anyone could help I’d be grateful.

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  5 лет назад +4

      That's def NOT how the licensing business works. What company did you go through?

    • @randomuser4514
      @randomuser4514 5 лет назад

      Sync My Music Thank you. He never represented himself as being affiliated with an actual company he just claimed to have “connections” with music supervisors that accepted up front payments. According to him, if you paid, you could get placed simply put because he would co-produce to ensure it would get placed. No contract negotiations, split sheets or submission formats (wav, mp3, 44.1, 48k, stereo format, stems, or metadata whatsoever, just pay to play! The guy advertises similar services on RUclips. I’ll just say this, had I not found you I would be really lost. Based on your response of acknowledging that the licensing business does NOT work that way, he will do it to someone with way more money and influence than me. That would eventually bring about his demise. It just takes time. Thank you again. You’ve answered my question!!! They’re in the same niche but somehow your videos popped up instead of theirs. Things seemingly are already working out. Great marketing! Feeling good about joining up. Thanks Jesse.

    I just looked into my first library and in their terms of agreement, they are saying that if I submit my music to them I am no longer deemed the author of that work...I am a singer/songwriter and to sign my authorship away is taking my recognition...if I had a deal with guaranteed deal to write and compose music for them exclusively I still want the recognition for any awards not just money...does this make sense and are all libraries like this?

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  3 года назад +1

      I'm not sure about not being deemed the author of your work anymore (do you mean they require a copyright ownership transfer?).

    • @AnthonyCarrier
      @AnthonyCarrier 3 года назад

      @@SyncMyMusic I basically just signed up with Pond 5 and started to read the user agreement...and I may be mistaken through the "Legal Terms" but it stated that they could use samples or the whole song and place it wherever they wanted (With this I am O.K.) then it went on to say something that seemed like I no longer have authorship rights. It sounded bad so I did not upload at this time...If I can find my way back to their "Terms of contract" "I'll copy it and paste here...(Legal issue to copyright" is a big issue for me...Thanks for your video tutorials...Anthony Carrier

    Once you establish direct relationships with music supervisors, can bypassing the music libraries mean that you can have more of your publishing rights? or do you still just keep your writer shere for the most part?

      Great question!!!

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  5 лет назад +4

      Each situation is different, but generally yes you could potentially keep more/all of your publisher's share by directly partnering with a Supervisor. The problem is, most supervisors don't accept submissions directly from composers because they like to have the quantity of choices a Music Library can provide for them.

    Thank you for a good channel and for Sync Academy. One question: how can music libraries promise and guarantee placement upfront before having anything to match it with? What if they find other tracks that fit better, wouldn’t it be pure stupidity to guarantee a placement? Can you help me get a grip on this?

    • @SyncMyMusic

      No Library can promise placements upfront since it's really up to their clients which tracks will be selected for placements.
