Now, also with the union strikes that are happening, it does make a difference to the companies who depend on the film/tv production to provide a service. 🙂
Some useful information was provided in this interview here. More confirmation that there is plenty of opportunity for talented, independent composers to make a living writing music.
Could a possible reason that composers move on, is that the library could not place any songs for a year or two? Did you guys discuss that possibility? It must be the composers just flaking out if they stop submitting music.
What audio file formats are preferred for submitting? 16 bit, 24 bit, 44.1khz, 48 kHz, 96khz? Mono, Stereo, 5.1, 7.1, 7.2 Surround? In other words, in your experience, what is necessary and what is preferred? Thanks!

Is it because the quality of the demos that they are getting are not up to standard and they have an in-house engineer to remix them to a better quality or is it because they need to create new music for briefs, or both? Every Library will have their own standards so you should ask. I've found that 24bit 48K WAVs are the norm for the Libraries I've worked with.

He's referring to a consideration fee. You would still be earning income from the music they accept from you.
