Sometimes imputing metadata into a Library for submission is a little challenging, However it works out if you could speak back and forth with the catalogue manger just to make sure its done the right way. ( Important ).
It seems that what we all need - but probably won't happen - is a one-stop music royalties company that handles it all. I'm still not quite clear though (got brain fog, LOL) - if we put our songs on libraries (for Sync) AND release them for people to listen to, eg on Spotify, etc, who do we register them with? Our PRO *and* Song Trust? Or is that where they get confused?
It depends on what the agreement is with that library. If it’s a situation where Songtrust can collect performance royalties for you, then you would register the works with Songtrust, then Songtrust would register that work with your PRO.
For places like Motion Array that are non-exclusive, you can register your tracks yourself with your PRO. Could I also register those NE ones with SongTrust?
What if you use CD babies sink service? They charge like $40 a song or something but then they put it in their library. Can you still submit that type of thing to other libraries or are you locked in with CD baby?
im registered with song trust but i never really seen them as a publisher. are they? i kinda seen then as like the middleman but i guess it makes sense now. so basically u cant joint any publishing deal with them??
Honestly, most music libraries use their own system to manage metadata. Spreadsheets, online portal, etc. and we just submit the WAV files and fill in the information in the places they provide and they handle the rest. Outside of that I believe AIFF does save metadata entered on iTunes.
@@clintmusic1Does a music supervisor/sync license company want to direct deal with independent artist@producer? Are they prefer in contact with the publisher?
Based on my research, it is not necessary to register any work with your PRO or Publisher that you plan to submit to sync opportunities, as libraries and other entities will typically handle that for you. What is your opinion on this matter?
If I make beats to send out to a music library, do I need to worry about it getting registered through my PRO first or would they ask me for my PRO # & handle that part when it comes time to get it placed on a TV show?
Music libraries will typically just ask you for your PRO info and handle the registration for you. As far as copyright, it’s up to you if you want to register before or after.
Damn, I never added the IPI number or PRO name, only composer name.. Btw, I use a program called Mp3Tag to all my tags, do you mean I should also make one for lyrics too? And paste them all there? Thank you sir

I agree!
I was asked to describe both the genre and then the "mood"..!
Nice!

Thank you so much for this enlightening video.
Ques: What is the best metadata/tag editor to use if I'm inputing metadata on my own?
Most important question here and gets ignored???
can we go deeper with collecting with other countries? My last instructor is with songtrust so I may need to lean into more
Since this video forgot to give us screenshot how the metadata , could i'm asking where I can see example about how metadata information look like?

Can you register with Ascap and songtrust at the same time in this situation?

What if it's an instrumental?
about money how much generally music supervisors pay a new artist for a song placement in a show? (And they often want it exclusive or non-exclusive?)

Also, if I’m registering cues with ascap, can I do it on Songtrust as well?
Great info AC!
Thanks Lamar!
How do you put metadata in your tracks? Do you use AIFF files or MP3 files or neither?

@@clintmusic1 - thank you Clint.
I have been seeing people using AIFF and then using Itunes to fill out the info. I think this may be the way to go but I am not the pro. Yet.
@@mumblz408 Yep, I’ve that before as well.
So I should have publishing and a PRO before sync licensing?
You don’t necessarily need to have your OWN publishing company before getting started in sync, but you definitely need to be registered with a PRO.
@@clintmusic1Does a music supervisor/sync license company want to direct deal with independent artist@producer? Are they prefer in contact with the publisher?
Can the songwriter and IPI be the stage name? I have IPI on ascap for my real name and also my stage name.

@@clintmusic1 Ok thank you!
This is a complete headache hahaha!
is there a free software for matadata
You can use the iTunes app to insert metadata for mp3s.

Depends based on company. Some just ask for lyrics on pdf.

Okay but do you use songtrust?
