Ah the case of the missing vlogs...well, the truth is they were awful; I looked back over them and because they are so different to what I do now, that I made them 'Private'. I once had two Red Kites fighting over half a string of sausages in my back garden, their size was enormous and I could hear a huge noise from their wings as they thrashed about. That was about 10 years ago…..never seen them so close since, they have moved to a more promising area I suppose. We still have buzzards though and a sparrow hawk that sits on top of the bird feeder at sunrise waiting for breakfast to fly in. Lovely video, zephyr gets more and more impressive. She is much admired. Thanks again.

Believe me, the kite story is an unusual high spot. Most days it is a couple of blue tits and very little else. Oh maybe a pigeon or two.

Hi Vanessa. A pair of New Zealand Falcons have become resident in recent years at the golf course where I work. They have been fascinating to observe as I go about my daily tasks. Tho deadly at nesting times as members pass by inventing creative ways to protect themselves. They are a protected species here so we cannot be harming or deterring them in any detrimental way, shape or form!! ... Being a newbie to your Channel I have naturally migrated back to this, your earliest available video. The nights are closing in here now in NZ especially since the clocks went back last weekend. I am looking foward to some binge-watching sessions wrapped in the warmth of my humble abode while outside temperatures slowly plummet during the winter months ahead. ❄☃🔥
I have just looked up the New Zealand Falcon and it is a beautiful bird which looks quite peregrine-like in its face. You are so lucky to have them nesting where you work. @@themindfulnarrowboat NZ Falcon/Karearea (bush or sparrow hawk). Yes they are spectacular looking birds of prey. We are the second golf course in the region to be graced by their presence in recent years. The male swooped down and knocked my hat off on two occasions when I ventured too close to the nesting area!! He meant business alright!! 😆 Enjoying the vids immensely thanks! The beginning vids were such poor quality as I was practicing with the filming and editing. Mr M is my husband. Never seen them before
I had two red kites in my garden about 8 or 9 yrs ago. I was leaning on my kitchen stable door only about 10 feet away as they squabbled over raw sausages. They are huge and very beautiful with a massive wingspan. They no longer hunt in my neck of the woods though.

Before my left below knee amputation and when I still had my dog we used to go to Lowndes Park in Chesham, Bucks and see Red Kites and Crows arguing, fighting etc as nests were < 50 paces apart.

Hi Vanessa I saw one of your more recent vlogs today and said I would start from scratch so here I am..good job Im retired I have a few to catch up with ha ha...You can see why the Kite is so called and now looking at that final sketch you can see why humans are now imitating the design in their wing suits for jumping off cliffs (if you are crazy or brave enough). Thanks for a lovely bit of scenery watching...I dont do social media FB etc so this is all I have to go by...do you have a beginning story as to why you are on the narrow boat. Hello, Expat Expat and welcome to the Mindful Narrowboat Family! You ask a very good question about the vlog order which I will now explain. In the beginning, I was hopeless with audio and filming and my vlogs were released initially but I just wasn’t happy with them, so I made them Private until I have time to go back and do something with their quality. Red kites have done well since being reintroduced ...there are now several colonies all over...the biggest is at Gigrin Farm in Wales....

Red Kites hunting in their natural environment - as shown on this video.
Here in Berkshire where I live, Red Kites are now in abundance. The field behind our house has many visitors, especially through the summer months. They can be addictive to watch as they circle overhead and swoop down.
Being late to your channel I’ve decided to go back to the beginning. BUT episodes 1 to 5 don’t appear to exist anymore 😢
My early episodes are so poor in quality as I hadn't a clue what I was doing with a camera, microphone or editing equipment and so I just had to make several of them Private as they were that bad! Also, I was very shy about talking, but 2 years later, I've got over that. It must be absolutely wonderful to sit and watch the red kites where you are. Thank you so much for your comment. Thank you so much for your question; the answer is as I was practising filming and editing, I made the earlier videos private as they were just awful!🤭 Also, I was filming mainly the nature and less of the narrowboating as there were so many brilliant narrowboat vlogs that I felt that I just fell short of them all. I now feel more confident with filming and so my vlogs are in a format that I like. In terms of displaying coffee links, I just don't feel comfortable asking, so I put it in the description of the vlog and I am always so grateful to anyone who wants to buy me one. I am so sorry, John. When I started vlogging, I didn’t have a clue how to film or edit and I wasn’t sure about the direction to go in with my channel. Some of my earlier videos are very shaky, shall we say, so they became Private on RUclips. I have never done an introduction as to who I am, but in drips and drops along the way, my life can slowly be unravelled. I hope this explains it a bit. Thank you for your patience, take care🌻🦋
